Vince Edwards told GBI he will decide between Michigan and Purdue prior to his senior year . He also said he talks often with coach Shrew and Painter . His father told GBI that he hopes Vince chooses Painter because Painter has out worked all others and that he would hate to see him loose .Interesting that Vince doesn't start for his AAU team . Ray and Bryson also watched parts of his game .
Tyler Ulis picked up an offer from MSU . Jordan Ash was a hot topic with some crazy dunks as he and Watson played late into the night to get a double OT win . Caleb Swanigan has Alabama and LSU showing football Interest . Sean McDermott a 2014 SG from Pendleton Heights is blowing up on the AAU circut . He is the nephew of former Boiler Linc Darner kid hit 7 of 8 three's in one game . Michigan and Illini showing interest . Bluiett was stellar as Bryson cheared on his former team .

I am sure many of you know they are playing in Ft. Wayne this weekend . Dakota Mathias wooed Ray D. and Bryson as the Boilermakers watched him put on a passing clinic . Mathias showed his complete game many scouts called him the best player of the night . He told GBI that he may visit Butler and Stanford . But he is pretty much down to Purdue and BC . Which means he has eleminated W.V , Dayton , X and afew others . He restated that he will decide prior to July . Ray went to the games just to watch Dakota . I like our chances with him . If you watch the complete game I believe you will want Mathias more than any other recruit we have offered . He scores 24 on his way to a triple double . And this game isn't even one of his best as he was double teamed thru out . Side note he is on an offical visit to Boston College today . I have watched many of his games online he is simply unstoppable . If you don't have the time to watch all of this watch the second half . He scores 18 even with the entire team guarding him . Boiler Up !

Since I had my doubters when I called Mathias our # 1 target . Maybe this will help boost my comment . Wish we could get Monteroso to play both football and BB . Either way glad he is a boiler . Not sure if Ohio has twenty something players better than Vince Edwards clueless as to why he is just special mention .

Well now just a few days ago he Questioned my post as he has done relentlessly since I started posting . He takes any positive someone post on here and drags it down not completely but just enough that we no longer feel good about the post . Now bare with me this is not your usual bash the I U guy remember I said I could prove it . He pushed me to far and I responded badly for that I do feel remorse . I guess his being the top dog on here really means a lot to him , So much so that one day after he assumed he had pushed me off of here he became the authority on our recruiting . More power to you AJ . However you just got busted on your first attempt . You must do better next time . Where did he get this ground breaking news story from ? Would it shock anyone to know he got it from me ! I swear it is all I can do to contain myself . Here is how the whole Darryl Baker story got started . I was told by a very reliable source in the athletic dept . That the coaching staff was going to use the 11 days in between games to try and add a shooter to the 2013 class .

Then I tweeted this info out saying that Purdue was going to recruit a scorer for 2013 . Then Our very own boilergal tweeted me and asked if I knew who . I replied no but I was going to beat the bushes to try and find out . Later the bush beating began I tweeted can Darryl Baker help us in 2013 just to see if something popped up . Then one of my followers posted that it was reported that we were recruiting Darryl Baker on GBI . Yes that was and is his entire source . Gets even better because GBI later reported some truth using the same headline Purdue looking for a shooter . Then your new source for the truth posted the story on here even Quoting ESPN as though he is in direct contact with them which made his evaluation seem more credible . Given the fact that I had just told you that I am not your ESPN he decided he would be .

Now please don't just take my word for this remember I said I could prove it . Go to my twitter page @oldboiler52 and click on tweets follow them back a few days and you will see for yourself . When I started getting text saying he had posted this story and the whole ESPN thing I thought I would shit myself because by this time we knew Baker wasn't on our radar .

However I implore you not to let the haters take over a great site that Travis has built . Many poster on here know what they are talking about but Just AJ isn't one of them he comments on players and yet he has never seen them play . Many on here have seen them play . And Travis is extremely creditable I enjoy reading his take on all things Purdue . I will continue to follow this site because of fine job he does . Basil Smotherman Wins Again

My grandfather used to say things have a way of working themselves out . In the case of Purdue and Basil that would appear to apply . Recruited and Verbaled as a 6'3 Point Guard he was projected to play the two or three for us at the time . Then his father was fired he changed schools and proceeded to grow 4 inches in a year . His ranking fell from grace of a top 40 recruit to unranked . Some Questioned if he belonged in a Purdue Uniform . In his first year at Lawrence North his Box scores were less than Impressive to say the least . Anytime I put up his numbers most comments were negative . [ Props to Hank and Jackson ] Only a few stuck with him and defended him from an onslaught of Naysayers . Now at or near 6'8 he is not the player we thought we were getting . To put the growth in focus view pic # 5 of him and Francis as Francis is listed at 6'4 . After painter has searched high and low for the next Robbie Hummel 4 . One has grown up for him . I listened to the game last night and watched him play last week . The kid is a high flyer . Long and lean he needs to add about 25 pounds for B1G play that will be no problem . I saw a tweet where his father said he was still growing . At this point another inch or two would just be a bonus . Lately I have been getting some hate on here for being positive and one poster even blamed me for KBD going to OSU . I have considered stopping my post as I never want to hurt Purdue . Kendall Stephens was sick and didn't start . He scored a team high 15 and added 3 blocks . Also he was 4 of 5 from the floor .

Basil Smotherman continued to impress scoring 12 while playing less than half the game . As Lawrence North joined Northrop at 4-0 .

Purdue continued its watch of the new Robbie Hummel as Micheal Finke scored 20 in a rout .

James Blackmon jr. Backed up his 38 point outing in fine fashion as hes dropped in 44 . This IU recruit is clearly the best player in Indiana . Trevon Bluiett had his usual night scoring 31 .

After Just two weeks the 2013 recruits are 13 -1 only Kendalls OT loss stops them from being perfect . I expect all three to challenge for playing time next year .

Then comes the other side enter the Mitchell brothers 3 deep . All start and play for Ft.Wayne Wayne Hs . They are undefeated at 3-0 with Justin the clear star of the team . Their father a youth worker in Ft. Wayne was murdered in June by someone who broke into their home and shot him . No arrest have been made . The boys now live with an Aunt and Uncle . All of them are Purdue fans . All are in the 2014 class Justin and Jescus are twins the third is Levi less than a year older . Justin is currently averaging 25 points and 12 rebounds per . He is drawing colleges into watch him play including Butler and X . I have no idea if we are in on him . But it is safe to say no one in the region will be over looked by us . Add the fact that all are great students and citzens to their profiles . And it would seem as though Justin is the clear choice . But considering the enviroment for Pryor is he ?

Which one would you choose ? Never heard of either one . I'll add links below for stories on both . Marquise Pryor was being recruited by many to name a few OSU , Kansas St, and Xavier . Then in April he was arrested for carring a concealed weapon . Funny thing is all or near all of the schools kept recruiting him . Then on 9-10-2012 he was arrested yet again for the possesion of a hand gun . He hadn't even went to trial on the first charge . Currently he is serving time in Cook Co. boot camp . However I have talked to many who know him and he is said to be a fun loving big kid and good teamate . His statement was simply one of immaturity as he stated . Sam Logwood III 2014 recruit Blowing UP !

Well now following in the late bloomer path of Gary Harris and Glen Robinson III . Logwood left the complete team rotation of LN . He landed in Laporte yes Lalumiere . Logwood is this years Ray Davis at Lalu . Coach Allen Huss couldn't be happier . At 6'6 he is a dunking machine . His quick first step gets his shoulders in front of his defender . Then with a explosive jump that even Jacob Lawson would envy he slams it down . He also drains the three with ease runs the court and defends . I watched him play a few AAU games for EG10 this past summer and thought this could happen . Well it has in a tourney in Illinois this past weekend he showed up big time . He won the MVP averaging 20 per . This was no cupcake tourney top ranked teams for accross the US were in it . At the UNC Wilmington Game Purdue fans were all a buzz as to who the team was that filed in minutes into the game . Enter Lalumiere 20 plus deep one giant player after another . They looked like a high major team as they found their seats . One of those giants at 6'11 is Jonathan Wilkins another Purdue Recruit . He is a JJ clone having played with Bryson Scott over the summer . His game has also exploded . He shoots well rebounds and blocks shots . Although his game has not elevated as much as Logwoods . He will be a great get for any high major . IMO if we were able to sign these two in 2014 we would have yet another good recruiting class . I will post the link below but for those who don't have three hours to watch these games only the first few minutes of the Missouri game and the last 5 you'll see why I am now singing the praises of Logwood he scores 25 including the first 10 of the game .While Wilkins show how well he slashes to the basket and blocks shots .

Kendall Stephens drops 31 on highly ranked St. Joesph

St.Charles East improved to 3-0 . Kendall score 31 while facing a constant double team . What makes that even more impressive is who was doing the double teaming . If you have been following the Purdue recruiting you will recoginze the names as all three have Purdue offers . Pual Turner , Glen Watson and Jordan Ash . Kendall and company routed St, Joe by the final score of 71 to 53 . Yes all of you who have been bashing our recruits should rethink it . Every starter on St. Joe has a Div one offer all three of the above mentioned are listed as 4 star players . While Kendall and Dom Aduci are the only St. Charles East players with any kind of offers . Clearly St. Joe knew they had to stop Stephens . If 3 four star recruits and the winningest coach in Ill. Can only hold you down to 31 points maybe you should be entitled to a little respect from the fan base you have chosen to represent . I could careless how ESPN or any other service ranks him . 31 points against 3 elite guards and a defense designed to stop him works well for me . We came out balling Stephens said . He also lead his team in rebounds , steals and blocked shots . Screw the rankings show me where anyone ranked above him had a better game . Through 3 games he is averaging only 21 per . Pual Turner scored 22 to lead St. Joe and Watson added 7. Stephens , Scott and Smotherman along with the 5 freshmen will be more than enough to lead us . Once again I challenge any and all of you fair weather fans to post any recruit who has had a better game against this type of competition . And maybe this is the post where you express how Painter can't recruit .

Newberry South Carolina comes to Mackey

The Newberry Wolves a Div two team coached by Dave Davis whom Painter was an ast. coach for brings his second team into face Painter . This is by far the biggest game for Newberry in their history . Their players have been tweeting none stop about the trip and the Penn State game . With only one player 6'7 size will be an Issue . Expect them to press and trap us like an old Tom Davis team . They run and gun none stop . With several international players this team may give us a go . Ronnie will be tested as will LIL AJ . I am looking foward to seeing how they handle the trap . Fun fact their news paper called us the most PRESTIGIOUS program they have ever faced I like that . PRESTIGIOUS !

Doesn't sound like he is going to redshirt him . Also of note when he talks about Ray all positive his body and the fact that he scores . I think at the end he is refrencing Jacob Lawson . Funny he never mentions Travis Carrol . I am up in the air about Jay one day sounds like redshirt next a possible starter . I am against the redshirt we need bodies IMO .

Painter says we will be really good

He just isn't sure when . He went on to say this should be a suprisingly positive campain if we can get through the non confrence portion without to much damage . On the players Donnie Hale has won the 4 spot . That leaves only the five open . He said Terone was the best defender . little AJ will spell Ronnie at the point although he has a slight foot injury now . Big AJ will be a great center the Question is when . Jay has lost 8 pounds needs to lose 10 more he maybe our most talented player . IMO Painter will redshirt him as I read between the lines . Ray Davis Just puts the ball in the basket . Ronnie see's one frame ahead . DJ will play on the wing . Were going to be a more traditional team with two bigs down low .

Over all Painter was very positive about this team . I expect another 20 win season and at least a few wins in the Tourney . We have more talent and depth on this team of any I have seen since 1980 . We just need to get all the pieces together . And the Italy trip should help with that . Finally figured this new site out Norton kept saying it was a virus . Had to take Ipad to Geeksquad . A few things to up date . First Matty P was back in Normal Il. Monday to watch KBD . Going after him hard . Also Vince Edwards and Alec Brennan get extra visits . Grayson Allen rounds out the top 4 recruits of 2014 IMO . Getting a Quality win should be easy with three teams ranked in top 5 and 5 in the top 25 . Ernie Duncan decommited to Evansville not sure we are a player but he could be a fall back plan . Hearing good things about KBD and Purdue but nothing solid enough to post . Saw where Cody Zeller was preseason player of the year . Will have to see how he does now that most B1G teams have true centers for him to compete against . I am positive we will be better than 6'8 Hummel . Iowa and Michigan also have added size to name just 2 .

In home visits these although not highly published are usually a great measuring stick . The recruits covet them more than any other contact . For a young teen to show all his peers that a big time college coach has gone out of his way to see him practice WOW . I am sure I have missed some but here are few that stand out . 2013 all three recruits have or will have Painter and at least one Ast. coach in . 2014 Vince Edwards , Painter and Shrew , KBD Painter and two Assistants . Jabari Craig , Painter and Shrew . Trevon Bluitt all coaches . Trey Lyles all coaches . 2015 Jordan Ash , Prentiss Nixon , and Glynn Watson Painter and two Ast. Jalen Coleman Painter has seen him twice . Hyron Edwards , Painter . 2016 Eron Gordon , Painter and Owens , Michael Benkert , Painter . At the game vs EMU 2016 recruits Caleb Swanigan , Reggie Tharpe , Reggie Jones , Glynn Watson , Prentiss Nixon and 2015 KJ Walton . A few thoughts that jump out at me are Painter really is recruiting the Illinois Wolves and Vince Edwards is our # 1 Target for 2014 . Sorry but I am really struggling with the focus to write this . We have been on him for afew months NBA.COM Adam Zagoria says we offered over the weekend . I confirmed we did offer . He has several offers including Harvard,Northwestern,Georgetown,Stanford and the whole Ivy league . My research says we have a great shot at him his coach says Purdue and Iowa st . Are at the top as of now . Watch out for Duke however .

2016 Recruit Caleb Swanigan tweeted " Purdue needs to stop bullshitting me I'll Prolly commit " A top 25 recruit he is listed at 6'7 and 260 lbs . The Fort Wayne prospect also plays football an OT . I'm am pretty sure the tweet was to Painter not Hope . I saw him play in Fishers this past summer as I was following Jack Owens . He was really impressive in the one game I saw . He has great hands and runs the floor like a kid half his weight . The younger brother of Corey and Carl . Carl was a top recruit in 2004 he was listed by Old Miss at 6'9 and 355 . He failed to Qualify and went to Juco in Richmond . Both brothers have had problems with the law . As for Caleb several scouting services have him listed in their top 25 - 50 area . This is the only video I could find and it's a year old .

Of all the recruits we are pursuing I like Jordan the best . This guy comes from a great family and is a true team player . He also was the best player at the Elite camp hands down . If we sign him everyone becomes better he is that kind of player .

Bare with me if I don't have the Qoutes exact . Ronnie established himself as the starting point guard no doubt . Little AJ and Dru as back ups . Donnie Hale was draining shots from 15 - 18 feet played real well . Hale is a 4 not a Hummel type but a strong 4 . Ray Davis is a player his plus minus was the best on the team you have to pay attention to that . The level of comp. was that of a low level mid major in three games . He was glad they lost one game wouldn't want them to think they are better than they are . He loves the size of his team first time ever he has had this much size . We will be short on #'s this year esp. at guard spot . Jay Simpson will play the 4 and 5 spot this year . DJ will play the 3 not the 4 . We will run our offense at the rim . We will struggle at times to score the basketball with certain rotations . He likes his team and it will just take adjustments on his part to bring out the best in them . But he likes his team . We suck at free throws and he doen't know why . " We were hoping to have a better level of competition and we did not " where we looked the best was up front Chooch , Big AJ and Carrol . TJ'S game was off do to the way the games were officiated they allowed alot of contact .

Davis scored a team high 18 and 9 boards . TJ and DJ each had 16 while Ronnie dished out 10 Assist . lawson had a big 3rd quarter scoring 8 with 3 boards . Chooch lead them in rebounding with 12 . This game was over at the half with Purdue up a commanding 63 to 34 . Byrd had ten at the half followed by Davis with 9 and chooch with 7 he also had 8 boards in the first half . Just some thing off of twitter .
