At age 34, Kansas City linebacker Mike Vrabel does not know how much longer he'll play in the NFL. It was suggested by Cleveland Browns coach Eric Mangini that Vrabel may have a career in coaching.

''I would love to go back to Ohio State in any capacity,'' Vrabel said. ''I've got a lot of friends who coach there, gotten to know some of the players by working out there in the offseason. I would say that would be the only place I would probably coach. If I could get into coaching, I would probably look there first.''

Chiefs History on "Mr. Irrelevant"

In the entire Kansas City Chiefs history, they have only had to pick two (2) "Mr. Irrelevant" in the draft.

The name arose in 1976, when former USC Trojans and NFL receiver Paul Salata founded "Irrelevant Week" in Newport Beach, California. There is however a rich history of the final picks in the draft dating back to 1936. The name of "Mr. Irrelevant" has only recently stuck with people.

It started for the Chiefs in 1970 when they picked Rayford Jenkins a DB from Alcorn A&M. He was the Round 17, number 26th pick in that draft. Jenkins was 6'1", weighed 212 and ran a 40 in 4.5 seconds. Jenkins also happened to be the cousin of none other than the Chiefs RB Robert Holmes. This was also the year that one each Terry Bradshaw was asking for the ungodly amount of $150,000. Jenkins apparently didn't make the cut and was released that year.

The second one ever picked by the Chiefs is one we all know of. Ryan Succop. Doing an outstanding job as a Rookie kicker in the NFL.

Although we didn't pick him in 1978, there is one that we did end up with and he is the only one to ever have been invited to a Pro Bowl. That would be the QB Bill Kenney. Kenney was given the "honor" of being named Mr. Irrelevant in 1978 when he was drafted by the Miami Dolphins. The award traditionally is given to the last selection of the draft and Kenney earned the award as the second-to-last selection when Lee Washburn the last player taken suffered a back injury and failed to report to camp. He was cut from the Dolphins at the end of training camp and picked up by the Chiefs in 1980. After his career with the Chiefs he became a Missouri State Senator for 8 years.

By comparison the Raiders have had to pick seven (7) since 1970.

Arrowhead Pride, Say Thanks to our Troops for Christmas!

It's easy to forget about the troops while we here at Arrowhead Pride sit in our comfortable homes and watch our team at Arrowhead or on Television. We can get on here and discuss, complain and just generally chat with one another, these people can't. They are busy taking care of something vastly more important in areas of the world that most people would be terrified at the prospect of entering.

If you go to this website Lets Say Thanks you can pick out a thank you card designed by children and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving our country overseas. This is FREE, you can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to a member of the armed services.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these? Whether you are for or against the war, our soldiers over there need to know we are behind them.

This takes just 10 seconds and it's a wonderful way to say thank you. Take the time to do this and please take the time to pass it on for others to do. We can never say enough thank you's.

Come on Arrowhead Pride, we have members of AP fighting for us right now. Lets show the troops just how proud we are of them!

Chiefs cornerback Brandon Carr has bigger things on his mind this week, like how to defend a couple of Buffalo Bills wide receivers named Terrell Owens and Lee Evans.

But Carr will hit the pause button on his DVD of the Buffalo passing game for a couple of hours on Saturday night and watch the NCAA Division II championship game between Northwest Missouri and his alma mater, Grand Valley State.

3,500 tickets still need to be sold for the Kansas City Chiefs home game this weekend against the Buffalo Bills on December 13th to avoid a local television blackout. It could represent the first Chiefs home game to be blacked out since December 16, 1990.
