Just looking to see if there is potential for either a DTN Tailgate soiree or if an offsite gamewatching fiesta is a possibility. It is the Saturday after Thanksgiving, but it also may be what we have in lieu of a bowl game (sigh). Jerry World opens at 2PM for tailgating....even though I won't be attending the game, this is an option to see most. If an offsite place is determined best, is mid cities, Plano-ish or Addison a possiblity for you? We will see if anything comes of this....gracias.

How about a check on who is near the Collin County area and might be interested in cold beer and watching the Red Raiders for the games you are not attending.  Two Brothers is at Preston and 121 and has Tech owners..I believe.

-It is second nature to go 'guns up' at every photo opp..including your wedding portrait, and your grandmothers funeral reception (can't help it).

- Your ropers have permanent indentations on each side....meaning you always had 4 flasks.

 -You would have to have a dermatologist look at your rash if Burnt orange ever touched your skin

-You have taught your kids to watch out for any car with an ATM sticker, because the probably don't know what the hell they're doing

-Even 20 years later, it seems weird to not have to drive 25 minutes to pick up beer

-Before taking grief from any UT fan, you ask when they went to school there (weeding through the 90% of Wal Mart fans).

-You've told friends, I wouldn't mind moving back to Lubbock....

-You are amazed at how kind West Texans are.....they don't laugh at people asking for directions in a town that is alphabetically and numerically arranged

-You think that anyone who considers a 5 hour road trip is too long is a wussy

-2 PM on Friday gets you Jonesing for beers and BS with friends

He was healthy enough to come and play in relief, but wasn't the choice to start?  For me, this is as big of a conspiracy theory as anything with baby James.  My eyes don't lie to me, he is the better QB.  Was there anyone that didn't think he would take us down for a score?  Sticks would have made that Baylor game watchable...Potts really stunk up the place that game. 

So my question is, why was Sticks relegated to being the backup?

This all stems from Hance and gang from being pissed off at Mike.

This short list of my 5 favorite 'bars' during college is to break the negativity of Leach's status, our lack of a basketball team, X games on TV where we had football, and the way our season ended in the CB. I was at Tech in the 80's, I would be interested in hearing about different eras and what you thought I missed in the 80's.  Of course, I take away all events at the fraternity house....so establishments only.

#5- Fat Dawg's- This place shut down sometime during my first or second senior year.  Utlimate force (and other bands) were a blast to watch here....great place to admire the female student also.

#4-Oyster Bar- Either location, you were going to have a good time and tip a few back.  Ever tried a 'dirty Larrry' at either place?  Just say no.

#3-The Spoon- Just tell your UT friends to meet you for Everclear margaritas and it made this place cool.  The place was always packed and had a pretty good history of some fights.

#2- Jazz- Who doesn't like cheap pitchers of warm beer?  I don't know why, but this place was just fun....why couldn't they get the beer cold enough?

#1- Depot/Beer Garden- No place better for sure from April-September.  Really never spent much time inside, but the beer garden was a home away from home.

 

Mac Brown had UT ranked 2nd and OU 3rd in the coaches poll.  I assume his logic was that they beat UT, so they should be ranked ahead of them.  How about the only team to beat his sorry behind?  He placed Tech 8th.....

Mac is sorry, very sorry.  He is such a weasel that he should be a politician.  I  can't cheer for a team that he coaches (which I usually do when a Big 12 team plays another conference).  Go Ohio State.....

OK, I just wanted to work in a Pirate reference when looking back over this past season.  I have been a Red Raider for 25 years (a bit over 40 now), and wanted to elaborate on some of my thoughts.

 1) I am (and always have been) proud to be a Red Raider....we genuinely enjoy engaging other Red Raiders.

2) Mike Leach is a perfect fit for Tech, I think we are perfect combination for each other....and we need to 1)Build a pirate ship in the end zone like Tampa has  2)Get at least 70,000 capacity in the stadium  3) Lock Leach up for 10 years.  I am very proud of  how spirited the current students are at Tech games.

3) Don't kid yourself, there is something special about being a Red Raider.  We don't create contrived traditions nor do we take anything for granted.  We are used to working for everything that we EARN, and we don't bitch about having to work so hard for it. 

4) Its a bit heartbreaking to go 11-1 and not have greater rewards, but just think about how many burnt orange (the color of ear wax) fans see Crabs break for that touchdown in their nightmares.  I hear in UT's BCS debate that Tech won at the last minute and they cry over Gideon's drop of a sure INT.  Hey Entitled Geniuses, we outgained you by 200 yards.....dominated the TOP and were ahead for all but 2 minutes of the game.  We were going to win the game REGARDLESS.

Thank you Seth and Double T nation, I have the feeds going to my blackberry and it has been entertaining the whole season to stay in touch with fellow Red Raiders.  Any Double T Nation Cotton Bowl shirts possible?  I'm in.

What a great road trip to KU.  I don't want to get caught up in last week's conversations about how friendly (or not) the aggies were......who cares, they're aggies.  Having said that, KU is my new 2nd favorite Big 12 team.  All good people (and bars).  We met Dwayne Price, and he is a good guy that deserves all of our patronage. 

I have been down on Graham this year, it was clear (in person) he did two things that took him from good to great: 1)He looked who he was throwing to better than I have seen any QB in person 2)He had a feel for the rush like I've never seen him have....he sucked them in on those screens perfectly. 

About UT, I find the posts to DTN funny on the fans dissing us.  We are not talking smack about UT, they are a good team and Tech will have to play one hell of a game to beat them.....but UT is going to have to be sharp to beat us as well. 

Lastly, the way the team came out in the 2nd half (up 21) was incredible.  Brandon Carter was so fired up it was scary, Batch and Williams were also getting their teammates fired up.  We may lose from here on out (not)....but I like the character on this team.  Enjoy this really good team fellow Red Raiders and lets get the wallet out for Leach. .....stay hard.
