Minor League Ball Crazy Dynasty Trade - Heyward/Lawrie/Alvarez

This is a Dynasty league where we keep players for as long as we want. The rosters are massive so most useful MLB players are owned and we also have MiLB rosters. Note that slugging is important in this league since TB and OPS are categories. Starting pitching a bit less important with QS and HDs. This is a complete video game trade but apparently the guy who has Heyward is in to that kind of thing. I have a shot at a championship this season but most of the guys I would give up are injured anyway so it doesn't hurt me too much.

I get:

Jason Heyward
Brett Lawrie
Dee Gordon
Chris Sale

I give:

Logan Morrison
Pedro Alvarez
Jose Tabata
Grady Sizemore
Clay Buccholz
Brett Anderson

The guy offered me some other trades, like one without Tabata from my side but with Harden instead of Lawrie. I think I might try and offer up one with Gordon out and try and keep some of my guys, but we'll see. I have Hardy at SS right now so Gordon might be nice at some point but as I said above, slugging is way more important than steals in this league.

Thanks for the help!

Minor League Ball Futures Game Pitch F/X at Hardball Times

Some of you guys might find this Hardball Times post interesting:

http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/2011-futures-game-pitchf-x/

Harry Pavlidis has been compiling some Pitch F/X data for prospects for the past couple years, grabbing from the few places where they've pitched that tracks it, and after the Futures Game he had an update with data from 14 new pitchers and updates for some others.

Sure, the sample size is minuscule for most of these guys, but its still actual data on how all these pitchers' stuff and not just secondhand scouting reports. One thing to note in the samples is that not all the pitchers had to face both handed batters or faced mostly from one side, so its quite possible they never had to throw every pitch in their arsenal.

Minor League Ball Dynasty Trade Advice

I just received a blockbuster offer and since you guys are the most knowledgeable group I know, I figured I'd ask. I'd get to keep all the guys in the deal, and the league's categories are pretty slanted towards slugging.

Send Billy Butler, KC 1B
Send Jay Bruce, Cin OF
Send Matt Wieters, Bal C
Send Pedro Alvarez, Pit 3B
Receive Prince Fielder, Mil 1B
Receive Denard Span, Min OF
Receive Austin Jackson, Det OF
Receive Jesus Montero, NYY C

If I asked most traditional fantasy places, I'd get people calling me crazy for not accepting right away, and maybe I am? Fielder is far and away the best player in the deal right now, and it's not like he's some aging vet. I'm pretty much in love with Jay Bruce and Matt Wieters, though, so it's pretty hard to give them away :p

I'm not sold at all on Austin Jackson despite his hot start due to the K problems, and I've never been much of a fan of him as a prospect. Span is nice, and in an OPS league he's one of the few light slugging leadoff types with a decent OPS, but his lack of power is kind of eh in a league like this. Neither of them have close to the potential of the other guys in the deal, even if they are good players.

So what do you guys think? The Alvarez/Montero part of it seems a bit of a wash, and I already have Joe Mauer, so losing Wieters and Montero's position isn't a big concern for me as his bat.

So, whats the verdict?

And, thanks for the help.

Minor League Ball Dynasty Trade Advice

I'm not too comfortable posting this kind of thing on this site since it's not really a fantasy site, but eh, you guys would give the best advice regarding my query, so I hope no one minds.

I'm looking for a more neutral opinion as I'm having trouble making a decision on a deal offered to me. In this league there isn't much of a penalty for keeping players so assume I could keep these guys for as long as I wished. I also should be one of the top teams competing this season, so 2010 contributions are fairly important to me which probably slants the trade a bit towards the first option.

The league uses standard 5x5 categories plus TB, OPS, QS, and HS, so obviously hitters are more important and power is king.

Carlos Gonzalez, Chad Billingsley, Phil Hughes, Jesus Montero

for

Matt Wieters, Neftali Feliz, Pedro Alvarez, Justin Smoak

I have the first side and I'm leaning towards taking it, but I worry that it'll cripple my chances of winnings this season. Do you guys see Smoak and Alvarez contributing this year, and what do you see from Feliz? I really feel like Phil Hughes is set to have a pretty good year as a starter so I hate to move him now when his value is probably low compared to what it may become. Can't deny the talent on the other side, though...

Thanks for the help.
