Another UCONN football player arrested
Saw this in the NY Post today, not sure if anyone else spotted it. Looks like UCONN is at it again:
Lyle McCombs, a running back, was arrested sunday by campus police after being charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. McCombs says he plans to stay in school, meanwhile Paul Pasqualoni has suspended him indefinitely.
Looks like Pasqualoni broke his cherry! Welcome to the wild world of UCONN sports Coach P!
Syracuse Street Musician ELI releases 2nd CD
Saw this article on Syracuse's Post Standard about Eli Harris, the Syracuse street musician who is pretty much a legend on marshall street. I thought I'd throw up a fanpost incase anyone missed it. Its his 2nd album after "eli's alleyway" came out in 2006 (which I purchased). His newest album is all christmas songs. you can get all the details here.
if you can spare the money this holiday season, pick up the holiday album.

delone carter's run through the history books
This Saturday Delone Carter ran for 172 yards and 4 touchdowns. Carter now has 2,290 yards in his Syracuse career which is good enough for 11th on the all-time rushing list. Next up on the list is the legend himself, Ernie Davis who has 2,386 career rushing yards.
The all-time leading rusher in Syracuse history is Joe Morris who ran for 4,299 yards between 1978 and 1981. Carter would have to rush for an average of 251 yards per game the rest of the way in order to tie his mark.

The Cuse Connection
Brand new syracuse sports blog up and running. Written by yours truly. I'd appreciate it if you all would click on over to it and leave some feedback. There's a preview of the Syracuse-Maine game up from this morning. I think its worth a read!
entry for rarest item
I am pretty confident that this is a one of a kind hat. Signed by syracuse basketball stars from 3 different eras (the word stars being used very loosely in some cases). From top to bottom: the illustrious eric williams, damone [d] brown, former star and assistant louis orr, ryan blackwell, billy celuck and who i think on the right side of the brim is mike hopkins. if someone can correct me on that feel free i'm pretty confident its hop though. with such a random grouping of autographs i'm gonna say that this is one of the rarest hats in circulation today.
I'm not sure where a book like this fits in this kind of contest but its pretty interesting and a funny read. Its a book of sports sketches from the 80s-90s and has plenty of boeheim, coach mac, some coach P, syracuse lacrosse, su hoops and football sketches. also has sketches from boxing, OJ simpson, the yankees and the mets and a few other sports. here's a sample of one of the sketches:
All sketches are by Joe Glisson who worked for the post standard and the syracuse new times. to quote the inside page, "no part of this book may be used for anything other than trying to make someone laugh without the expressed written consent of Major League Badminton." Last sketch in the book is in reference to syracuse's 2nd place finish in 1996.
contest entry
i have a lot of items i dont wanna flood the entries but i have a few more after this i can do too. gives us cuse fans something to look at during the long summer months.
first this is a jason cipolla jersey i got shortly after the 1996 finals appearance, with the matching shorts. future limo driver to the stars! am i alone in saying after this game i was always working on the corner jumper? only 2010 drawback of this is that its sized for a 12 year old.
i believe this is the first run of Ernie Davis: The Elmira Express. my dad gave this to me when i was a kid, says published in 1983. lots of great pictures inside and of course the story that daryl gross will one day adapt for the screen.
much like the jersey submitted before this jersey was signed during the early part of the basketball season in 02/03 maybe january. very similar jersey only mine is missing billy edelin's signature. otherwise its a gem. the first pic is carmelo on teh 1, then hak josh pace and jeremy mcneil. the back has gerry uptop, QUETH and craig forth. if anyone knows billy's whereabouts i'd love to add him to the jersey. signed on both sides being the only draw back shouldn't have let that happen. one day maybe i'll get it cut in half and framed.
uconn basketball being investigated by ncaa
the two best words in the english language when put together: uconn and violation. espn just reported their mens bball team is going to have an investigation as to some violations to the ncaa's policy, although the details have not yet surfaced.
"The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that the NCAA has told UConn that an investigation into the men's basketball program uncovered rules violations and a report will soon be released."
tickets to buffalo
how are you readers going about getting tickets to the games in buffalo? I'm not in the group that gives $5,000 to chancy nancy and DOCTOR daryl gross, so how does a regular guy get tickets to this? is stubhub the only way? do any of you have extra tickets? tickets for the vermont game start at like 140 on stubhub, is it like the big east tournament where the tickets are listed for astronomical prices on the internet and then at HSBC they will be a fraction of that?
any info would help.
the brainchild doug gottlieb flexing his knowledge
discussion gottlieb just had in between the 12 and 2pm games at the garden today
host 1: do you think the big east is overrated?
gottlieb: "in the middle.. yes"
gottlieb then went on to say the big 12 is a better conference than the big east and THEN stated that the top of the acc (the ACC!!!) is as good as the top of the big east!
after this the other 2 hosts started ganging up on lil dougie and one asks him "would you be shocked to see syracuse, villanova, and wvu in the final 4?" gottlieb said no. then the host asks him "would you be shocked if any other ACC team other than duke got to the final 4" gottlieb said yes. so then both hosts jump on him saying you JUST said the acc was as good as the big east!! and gottlieb starts the backpeddling that sounds so much like someone accused of stealing credit cards would use, and they had to cut out to a different topic, convenienetly..
jimmy b's 1000th win at cuse
from syracuse.com :
Earlier this season, Boeheim earned his 800th career coaching victory. On Monday, he experienced his 1,000th win at Syracuse University.
Monday’s win over Colgate was Boeheim’s 806th as the head coach. He was part of 55 wins as a player at Syracuse from 1963 to 1966 and 139 as an assistant.
didn't want this to go overlooked.

su bball on sny yesteday
did any one else catch the SU v. CAL U of LA game on sny yesterday afternoon? sutherland looked REAL solid going 5 for 5 from 3, onuaku airballed his first foulshot attempt by a good 18" and then front rimmed his second shot. wes johnson threw down 2 huge dunks, i think he had 2 blocks as well. triche looked comfortable but still some ways to go. scoop was definitely the more "poised" pg, altho i hate to use that word. rick jackson still looks fresh.
Another reason to make fun of notre dame fans
courtesy of busted coverage..

mainly a paulus article.. as usual.
Doug Marrone shows up on taxicabs in NYC.. (far left) Jimmy B also present.
national championship time..
syracuse is back in a familiar position (thats what she said).. going for the ELEVENTH national title today. i'm frankly a little surprised there isn't more chatter on here for the game, but be that as it may LETS GO ORANGE
syracuse may be wearing the worst uniforms in the history of the school (including the green and pink ones the football team wore in the 1800s), and now they're called the orange instead of the orangemen, but LETS GO CUSE! dont let it bring you down (neil reference)
donte greene hazing story
