+

Looks like Beltran's in jury is making room for Whitley to be added to the roster for tonight's start.

Huff called up, Betances sent down, Phelps to the 60-man DL

Because 0.2 innings from Betances was enough to write him off for the rest of the season, apparently...

Devils Sign Jaromir Jagr

1

Jaromir Jagr agrees with Devils Updated: July 22, 2013, 11:37 AM ET By Mike Mazzeo | Special to ESPNNewYork.com The New Jersey Devils have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with right wing Jaromir Jagr, a source told ESPN.com. Jagr, 41, will help New Jersey attempt to fill the massive void created when Ilya Kovalchuk stunningly elected to retire from the NHL and play in his native Russia's Kontinental Hockey League. Jagr had 16 goals and 19 assists in 45 games for the Boston Bruins and Dallas Stars this past season. He recorded 10 assists in 22 playoff games with Boston.

Yanks Acquire Steve Pearce; Brandon Laird DFA'd

2

The Yankees just acquired corner-infielder/outfielder Steve Pearce from the Astros for cash. Brandon Laird has been DFA'd to make room for him on the 40-man roster. In case you didn't know (as I didn't), Pearce was part of the AAA Empire State Yankees at the beginning of the year, hitting .318/.419/.568. The Yankees traded him to the Orioles for cash earlier this year. He was later claimed by the Astros when he was DFA'd by the Orioles. He played 49 games this year with the Orioles and Astros hitting .254/.347/.349. It looks like the Yankees are just trying to acquire additional depth at the corner infield & outfield spots, and I expect him to wind up back in AAA. This is certainly a bad sign for Brandon Laird.

Scounting the AA Trenton Thunder

OK, I'm no scout, so it's not really "scouting," but I did see the Thunder play the New Britain Rock Cats (Twins AA affiliate) tonight. I've gone to handful of Thunder games for the past couple...

Pictures of Andy Pettitte's Start for the Trenton Thunder 4/25/12

+

If anyone's interested, I took a ton of pictures during the game that Andy Pettitte started for the Thunder on Wednesday. For some reason, Facebook screwed up the order of the pictures, and I can't find a way to move a bunch of pictures from the front to the end all at once. Now, the album starts where Pettitte came out of the game. It should start with the big white lineup board that's about halfway down the first page, then there's a bunch of pictures of Pettitte after that. Also, for some reason, it takes you to the second page when you click the link. Click show previous at the top to see the rest.
