SF staffing

82 games had Roy at SF about 4 minutes a game. Was that real? Looks like he did fine there. What would you think if he played 10+ of his minutes there this season? I know you might say no room but I am thinking cut back on Webster some and give the other 3 guards as many minutes as you might want to (70+ combined) while getting Roy close to his 40.

Pending how Webster (and Outlaw and Batum) do in first half of season I might explore a Webster trade near the deadline for a more vet SF (on modest years / salary contract) if he doesn't show improvement. Assuming Jones isn't back.

Had a few thoughts about the Blazers to toss out. Looking for feedback from the careful team watchers.

1. In the long run the team's "big three" is Oden-Aldridge (in whichever order) then Roy. Agree or disagree?

2.Aldridge / Rodriguez looks pretty good as a player pair in the stats. How did it look in real life? Any special chemistry there or just a mildly interesting stat bounce that could come and go?

Impacts on winning for last season's Blazers

I have a statistical model that estimates in a rough way how teams compare to a 41 expected win average team (based on point differential). Last season's Blazers "lost" about 4 games for season compared to that standard because of weakness on offense and about 8 games because of weakness on defense. Shot defense accounted for 4 of those losses, a below average rate of forcing turnovers another 3 and allowing opponents to get to free throw more often than normal another 1. On offense below average shooting cost about 4 wins, own turnovers cost 1 win but better than average rate going to the line gained 1 win to offset.

I thought I'd mention these results, in case it might be of interest.
