Gaslamp Ball Welcome to the Hall!

As we quickly approach the enshrinement of Andre Dawson into the Baseball Hall of Fame, I was quickly reminded of all the great players who may never get there for whatever reason. I remember hearing a radio personality refer to a "hall of the very good" where a lot these players should reside. This got me to thinking about some of the players who you believe belong in the hall of the very good but aren't quite great enough for the real Hall. I don't want to give my list away to see if anyone has the same thought pattern but suffice to say there are plenty who belong.

Gaslamp Ball Mock World Series

I know this is far to early to seriously contemplate, but for the sake of argument let's say the Padres make it to the World Series. Of all the AL teams, who do you believe would

A) make for the best World Series

B) create the best match up for our style of play

these are probably one in the same team but wanted to see who you guys thought. I posed this question to Scan and he and I both agree that the Rays would be the perfect match up for varous reasons including the speed and defense similarities, similar rotations and undervalued aspect. Besides, FOX would go crazy at the fact that the Yankees, Dodgers, Red Sox and Cardinals aren't participating.

Thoughts?

Gaslamp Ball All-time non-Padres

Let me try and make some sense of this. I am asking your help to create a list of the all-time non Padres roster. These are players who either began their career as Padres (drafted by the Pads, spent time in the farm system or who began their careers in the pros here and spent less than 5 years here). These are the players who we sent off and went on to have good or great careers elsewhere. I only have a few thus my request to get this list completed.

1B - Derrek Lee

2B - Roberto Alomar

SS - Ozzie Smith

OF - Shane Victorino

OF - Jason Bay

P - Joakim Soria

P - Oliver Perez
