Possible Future Affiliation with Texas
Hey guy, Texas fan here. I'm sure you're all aware of the Aggies SECeding. With that, rumors and inside sources being relayed from the Texas front have been speaking of how UT and ND are in talks about making the series an annual event, possibly replacing A&M on Thanksgiving with ND (some are going as far as saying that ND is interested in joining the Big 12-3). I understand that you play USC every other year during Thanksgiving week; perhaps on the other years you play Texas instead that week. I'm very sure that this will be an out of conference affair since ND is adamant about their Independent status. That said, I'm curious to see if there have been similar rumors on your end and if they have any veracity.
Regardless, I'm excited for the coming matchups the next few years. I'm really looking forward to two traditional powers going at it again. I really do hope it does become a more regular event.
VY To Eagles
Link here.
Interesting to see him go to the Philadelphia Eagles. I was hoping for him to find a starting job somewhere, especially with a player like Michael Vick who has similar game already the incumbent, but the deal is reported to be only a year for $5.5 million. Hopefully he can use this year to get himself back on his feet and prove he can still be a starting quarterback in the near future.
Titans letting VY go
Article here.
The Titans released a statement Wednesday night in which Adams said Young won't be on the team's roster next season, but he's still evaluating the coaching staff, including head coach Jeff Fisher. Adams says he wishes things had worked out better, but he thinks it's best for the franchise to move on without Young.
After dealing with so much turmoil in Tennessee, VY is going to be looking for a new job. I think it's best for both parties especially with the lack of support he seemed to be getting from Fisher. VY has some maturing to do, but he has the tools to still be a solid, if not great, quarterback. I hope he lands somewhere where he will be more appreciated and his talents better utilized. Hook 'em Vince!
Randy Shannon hired as DC AND supposedly named HCIW?!
Supposedly Randy Shannon was hired as DC as well as named HCIW.
According to former rapper and Miami Central linebackers coach Luther "Uncle Luke" Campbell, recently fired Miami Hurricanes head coach Randy Shannon has accepted the defensive coordinator job at the University of Texas.
Here's a link Campbell's relation to Miami. Recruitocosm has posted this on their Twitter page too.

FWAA to possibly award Auburn '04 national title
The already controversial 2004 college football season could have one final act. The Football Writers Association of America is considering stripping USC of the national championship and awarding the trophy to Auburn, according to Evan Woodberry of the Mobile Press-Register.
"This is unprecedented, but it's an unprecedented situation," FWAA executive director Steve Richardson told the Press-Register.
Granted that it's not the AP or BCS national championship, I find it interesting that at least one major national championship selector is choosing to buck the trend. With the AP choosing not to revote and the BCS merely vacating the win if USC loses the appeal, I think it's fair to select another team that had a great year be rewarded.
Now, that could open a can of worms with whether it should be Auburn. Utah also went undefeated. OU's only loss came to USC in the BCS title game, but the beat down they received was just too great for me to think they deserve it even if it "never happened". Not to mention the things I would do to see Stoops one up Mack in national titles, especially retroactively. Stoops, however, has made it public he doesn't want it.
This is would be the first of its kind in the modern era. Do you guys think the FWAA will actually seriously consider this? Thoughts?
Texas A&M to the SEC a done deal?
According to Orangebloods, it seems that Texas A&M has voted to join the SEC. There's already been enough talk about why they would do that and whether it is a smart move. If this news is true, the two questions that come to me right away is who will replace them in this Pac 16 conference and what will happen to the UT/ATM rivalry?
....sources say UT officials have vowed that if A&M turns down its invitation to the Pac-10, breaks away from UT and goes to the SEC, Texas won't schedule the Aggies in anything anytime soon.
It also appears that Rick Perry won't be pushing for the two schools to remain in the same conference. I would hate to see UT not try to schedule ATM every year. As one sided as the rivalry has been, this is has been a huge game in the state of Texas. There's no reason we should end it. It does seem that ATM may finally get its wish of getting itself out of UT's shadow. Thoughts?
