Less than a year after the Giants won their first World Series in 56 years (first in California), Bill Neukom has been forced out as the managing general partner. He has held the job for 3 years.
The team made the announcement today rather than at the end of the season, because the San Jose Mercury News leaked the story earlier Wednesday.

Goodyear Development or Lack Thereof
The linked article provides some insight into how the stadium deal was put together. The foreclosure on the surrounding economy and the economy are likely to keep the land around the complex barren for quite a while longer.
The city bought the land from the Wood family at a "discount"
which helps explain the distance between the stadium and development complex. Just be thankful that the Indians got there first. The Reds complex will be twice as far away.

Ravens get week off unexpectedly
The Ravens were supposed to play in Houston Sunday and then Monday.
Because Ike damaged the Reliant Stadium, the game has been postponed to November 9 and the Ravens will be well rested for the Browns next week.
To reschedule the game, they had to adjust Cincinnati's schedule too because they had been scheduled to play Houston November 9 and will now play them October 26. This week becomes Houston's and Baltimore's bye week and November 9 will be Cincinnati's bye week.

Stevens could face new challenge in Olympics
As USA Olympic team reliever and closer, Stevens could be impacted by the new international baseball rule which starts innings beginning with the 11th with runners on 1st and 2nd and no out.
The US team was processed in San Jose earlier this week and has flown back to North Carolina for a 4-game series against Canada this weekend before leaving for Beijing.
Beards and Johnsons
The Dodgers lost to the Giants 7-6 on Monday night. In the bottom of the 8th, Blake argued a 3rd strike call on a checked swing and both he and Torre were tossed from the game. Blake in 4-10 so far for the Dodgers.
In other Dodger news, Jason Johnson has given up 2 runs in 2 games and 7 innings, so Tuesday night he gets this first start with the Dodgers. I did not realize that he had an 11-5 record with Las Vegas with a 3.82 ERA and was named to the PCL All-Star team.
