You thought the regular season was over? You were wrong.

From Yahoo:

The Chicago White Sox finally came up with a win when they needed one on Sunday to stay alive in the race for the AL Central title.

If they want to actually win the division, they’ll need another on Monday. And one more on Tuesday.

Freddy Garcia takes on Gavin Floyd, and here are the lineups:

Detroit:
Granderson, CF
Sheffield, DH
Ordonez, RF
Cabrera, 1B
Thames, LF
Raburn, 2B
Inge, 3B
Ryan, C
Santiago, SS

Chicago:
Cabrera, SS
Wise, LF
Dye, RF
Thome, DH
Konerko, 1B
Griffey, Jr., CF
Ramirez, 2B
Pierzynski, C
Uribe, 3B

Right now we're in a rain delay, so sit tight, kiddos.

I can't sleep. Not sure why. I should be doing something productive, like cleaning or returning emails, but I'm not. I'm jumping into the fray and lovingly creating for you my first DLD.

The A's didn't play any baseball yesterday, and that was sad for me.

First things first: Jon Carroll writes about LOLcats today (and introduces me to another cat-centric site, Gato Island - which is, to put it quite simply, adorable):

I decided to check in at icanhascheezburger.com, which is ... I dunno what it is. It's about cats and strange syntax and, perhaps, people from an alternate universe. Page down through it; it's either hilarious or it isn't.

Jon. SRSLY. It's hilarious.

MVN interviews Tyson Ross, who is set to debut for Kane County in the next few days.

THT finishes up their look at The Virtual 1980 Oakland Athletics. (Part 1 is here).

SuSlu pens an ode to Dale (his glove and his splits). Yeow.

Don't forget! Food Bank Wednesday this week vs. the Phillies. Bring your cans and/or donations and get a free ticket to an upcoming A's game!

What better group could there be to pass this information on to other than the fan-faithful AN?

The Alameda County Community Food Bank and the A's Community Fund have partnered to do food and fund drives at every Wednesday home game this summer.

On the days listed below, donate 2 cans of food or $5 and receive a Plaza-level ticket to a future A's game! (4 tickets maximum...of course, no maximum on the number of cans of food or money you can donate!).

We will be stationed at Gates C, D and Bart Plaza two hours before game time through the end of the second inning.

It's an easy way to support the Food Bank - and you get a great gift in return!

Upcoming Food Bank Wednesdays Schedule (when to donate)

Wednesday, June 11 vs. New York Yankees (7:05 pm)

Wednesday, June 25 vs. Philadelphia Phillies (7:05 pm)

Wednesday, July 9 vs. Seattle Mariners (7:05 pm)

Wednesday, July 30 vs. Kansas City Royals (12:35 pm)

Wednesday, August 13 vs. Tampa Bay Rays (7:05 pm)

Wednesday, September 17 vs. Los Angeles Angels (7:05 pm)

Games to Choose from (when to use your free ticket - select one game per voucher)

Monday, July 7 vs. Seattle Mariners (7:05 pm)

Tuesday, July 8 vs. Seattle Mariners (7:05 pm)

Monday, July 28 vs. Kansas City Royals (7:05 pm)

Tuesday, July 29 vs. Kansas City Royals (7:05 pm)

Tuesday, August 12 vs. Tampa Bay Rays (7:05 pm)

Friday, August 15 vs. Chicago White Sox (7:05 pm)

Thursday, August 28 vs. Minnesota Twins (7:05 pm)

Thursday, September 11 vs. Texas Rangers (7:05 pm)

Tuesday, September 16 cs. Seattle Mariners (7:05 pm)

(Toward the end of the season you will receive a voucher which includes the option for a mutually agreeable game for the 2009 season)

Due to rising food and fuel prices, the Food Bank is experiencing unprecedented need. The summer months are often the hardest on low-income families because children are out of school - where they may have access to free or reduced-price school meals. In addition, child-care and back to school costs are hard on budgets and utility bills skyrocket. Food drive food is often the highest quality food we receive so go into your pantries and pockets and help your neighbors in need!

(and come say hi to me!)
