Bloody Elbow Perfect timing for Fedor to enter the UFC

Randy vs Fedor?

Brock vs Fedor?

Cain vs Fedor?

Needless to say the aura of invincibility lasts only so long in MMA

If there was ever a time for fedor to come back from the werdum loss it should be NOW! Once JDS and Cain fight there may be no to HWs left with unbeaten records. The Cashcow championship matches that could have made an even bigger fortune for Dana white are dissappearing fight after fight.

Bloody Elbow Second weigh in just for fan info

I think a second weigh in the day of the fight should be done just for statistics sake (no penalty if they are over). This would only take just a minute in the locker.  mma fans now will have an idea at what their favorite fighters truly are fighting at. In some cases some fighters are weighing in at rumored 20lbs or more, but these are just rumors.

At best public discourse will help persuade certain fighters to fight fighters of their own size come fight time. For example Yoshida  fighting Koshcheck exemplified a large size discrepancy. I, as a fan would like to know exactly what that difference was, not just rumored numbers but cold hard facts. At worst its good statistics for fan discussion instead of endless speculation at what a true fighters weight is.

Bloody Elbow MMA Today = NBA pre 24second shot clock

The relative youth of MMA as a sport allows one to believe that there are still rules that can be implemented to increase the entertainment value of a fight without taking away the strategic plannings of a fighter.

I'm positive there were some exciting games in the NBA preshotclock era but there was something missing to bring out the potential of the sport. Did fans complain when the 24s shot clock was implemented and when the "awesome" strategies of keep away become useless? im sure there were protests, but the sport was improved for the fans and the game regardless.

Rules need to be created so that its not up to a subjective refs discretion when to separate a stalled clinch or stand up ineffective ground and pound. The timer itself as a bonus can also be used to build some tension in a fight as well. Instead of the fans waiting and wondering when the stalled position will be separated or stood up, they will have something to monitor the progress of that position.

I suggest stands up in full guard after 30 seconds no matter what. In any other position ie half guard, full mount there will be no timer necessary. If the fighter transitions from half guard to full guard clock is reset. This will promote dynamic transitions rather than smothering tactics even if its just a fighter switching from half guard to full guard over and over. Plus this will give the bottom fighter a chance to do something during transitions. I also think a fighter can only pin a fighters back to a fence for 30 seconds before being separated.

Not having this in MMA is like having NBA refs decide when the other team was stalling when they were ahead preshot clock era. Think about it

Fans will argue this will put wrestlers at a disadvantage but i would argue that a good wrestler can put a striker on his back over and over again and well be able to see this every 30 seconds if they dont transition. Fans saying that the fighter being held down just needs to get better at standing up when pinned is like hearing someone say just develop better stealing skills preshotclock era, i dont see that as a real game changer.

Afterall this is MMA not glorified kickboxing or NCAA wrestling. Im watching for the TD, the TD defense, the transitions, the sub attempts, and the occasional punches to the face.  I think some of these rules with some tweaks could help the fans see alot more of all of these which makes for a fun and strategic fight.
