GEOFF PETRIE LIVE ON KINGS.com (TODAY) (TUESDAY) AT 1:00pm
"Kings play-by-play announcer Grant Napear will interview Geoff Petrie live tomorrow at 1:00pm PST on Kings.com. Grant will primarily talk to Geoff about the upcoming NBA Draft as well as other Kings basketball topics."
Potentially Good News for Jordan Fans
"PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- The Philadelphia 76ers will interview Boston Celtics assistant coach Tom Thibodeau for their vacant head coaching position."
GO RENO! GO ROD! GO KINGS?!
"We were seven games below .500 and nine games out of the playoffs. After 15 games here in Reno, we are now finally a .500 team and only one game out with two games to go. We have two very winnable games remaining to achieve the seemingly impossible. At that point, if we did get in, nobody would want to play us, since we are the hottest team in the D-League. My summer vacation plans in Vegas might have to go on hold for the chance at a title. We’ll just have to see what happens this weekend." -Bighorn player, Rod Benson from his spot on BDL.
Also via BDL, Ron Artest freestyling. If your masochistic its a must watch.
Linked in the comments: Some satire about a variety of teams rumored to move,
"Disney would most likely take over the entire franchise, trade for Joakim Noah and cast him in the live-action adaptation of Goofy’s autobiography."
And anyone with knowledge, how do you link in a fanpost/shot?

Pictures of shot mechanics for funky shooters, with some video to accompany it, including one wreaking of Kings nostalgia. And video of Barkley's golf swing, its a must see. Via Truehoop.
Petrie, Drafter Extraodinaire
From a Magic blog, thepunsarestartingtoboreme.blogspot.com Theres a little bit more about the kings and then the spurs, bucks, suns, and sonics. Its not the most in depth analysis but at least he's complimentary.
"First up: The Kings.
From Anthony Johnson, to Spencer Hawes, and everyone in between, what has Sac Town done to deserve our highest honor? First of all, in this span, they have only 15 selections overall. A smaller group is more easily impacted by one or two good draft choices. Their three "best" selections overall? Would you believe that Kevin Martin, and Gerald Wallace, both taken late in the first round (26, and 25 in their respective drafts) come in as only the second and third best selections in this ten year span? Number one? Jerome James."
Thorpe with a low blow to the Kings,
"If the Euroleague sent their two best teams this year to play Sacramento and Washington, I'd think the Euros would win. No matter what the rules were."
Thats like saying the best two MLS teams could take on the worst two Premier League teams.
He goes onto say, "The game could potentially energize depressed fan bases in Sacramento and Washington who haven't seen their teams play meaningful basketball in months."
Depressed my ass, who hasnt been taking their Xanax? Perhaps happily medicated but not depressed, not any more at least. But i shouldnt get defensive, lord knows the kings dont.
Context- Ideas to improve All Star Weekend- instead of the Rookie v Soph game have 3 games, Rookies v. Dleague All Stars and then the two worst NBA teams play the best two Euro teams. At least our whole team goes to the All star weekend in this hypothetical but we LOSE... no matter what the rules are and we'd be playing a home game in another city, scary thought.
Drafting Prowess, Kings Top the List
In terms of the cookie rating system we are Fresh Out of the Oven Warm Gooey Cookie. This is just the intro to his analysis which will be upcoming in future posts.
Sacto's home team
PG DeMarcus Nelson (Sacramento, CA)
SG Chuck Hayes (Modesto, CA)
SF Matt Barnes (Sacramento, CA)
PF Robin Lopez (Fresno, CA)*
C Brook Lopez (Fresno, CA)*/Ryan Hollins (El Dorado Hills, CA)
"BG Analysis: This team will have problems with such young players (2 rooks) but they have talent. They just don't have any playmakers that can create and nobody except for maybe b. Lopez can create their own shot. So this is a relatively weak squad with no real guards or swingmen.
My Take: Probably worth seeing the Lopez twins out there together, I'd love to see them play two-on-two with the Collins twins. This team is garbage, though."
Finally a team the Kings could beat, the link does this for all the bball cities.
Slightly Inebriated...stop reading at the word "defense"
"After they put up monstrous lines against the Kings, the league's 3rd best defense was able to hold LBJ and Mo to a combined 14-42 from the field..."
Here's to the joy of misreading.
Really? We're last in attendance? Last?
John Lombardo via truehoop, "The Sacramento Kings are last in the NBA in average attendance with 12,277 fans per game. The Kings also have the largest attendance decrease in the NBA with an 11.6 percent drop at the gate."

The first link is a trade idea the second link is source of its inspiration(BTW TZ, you're always the source of my inspiration).
Kings Get- Monta Ellis; Give up- Beno Udrih and Shelden Williams
Warriors Get- Baron Davis; Give up Monta, B Wright, and M. Williams
Clippers- Get Beno, Shelden, B Wright, and M. Williams; Give up B. Davis
Reasons-
Kings Get rid of Beno and get an interesting prospect at point guard, Shelden can play in LA with Candace.
Warriors get rid of B.Wright who is in Nellys doghouse and TZ's article says Monta might force a trade when he returns to good health. They get back Baron Davis, a guy who has proven he can run Nellys offense and he fits in the locker room.
Clippers- Davis and Dunleavy are not a match and hes been downright horrible for them. Dunleavy had interest in Beno over the offseason and was probably his second strongest suiter. Brandan Wright is a quality prospect who could push Al Thornton for minutes. Williams and Williams are just there to make the salaries match up and both expire this summer.
I can see why each team does this trade, the main thing I see holding it up is Monta and what he decides to do. And would three teams in the same division make a trade with each other? They are the celler dwellers so its not like fear of playoff positioning should enter the equation. Anyway, I think its time for you guys to let me have it.

Optimistic season preview by FanHouse
"Now, as we look to the Sacramento Kings, things start to get a bit more interesting. Sac-to has a budding star in Kevin Martin, a veteran, versatile big in Brad Miller, and a couple more quality starters in Beno Udrih and Francisco Garcia. Mikki Moore, the fifth starter, is definitely serviceable. This team won 38 games in the West a season ago, and with the distractions named Mike Bibby and Ron Artest compeltely out of the picture, could the Kings make a run at the eight seed? I think they can, but a lot would have to go right for them."

And with the first pick, the Reno Bighorns take...
Damone Brown. A forward who averaged 18 and 8 last year and has been called up twice. Once with the Wizards and once with Toronto but not since the 04-05 season.
link gives the rest of our selections with a sentence or two describing each player.
We got the first pick in the draft!
The Reno Big Horns will be selecting first in the d-league draft. I doubt that the player chosen will make it to The Association but its still exciting nonetheless.
