Blazer's Edge A Couple of Trades

I took a look at the ESPN NBA Trade Machine for a couple of simple, low cost, low impact trades that could still provide some help at the 5.  What do you think?

Watch CBS News Videos Online

This is a clip from Tim Donaghy's "60 Minutes" interview. Starting at around 5 minutes they start to talk about favoritism, or a lack thereof, towards certain players for various reasons. Whether to believe him or not is one thing, but it certainly is interesting to hear what he says and then think about Brandon Roy's annoying yelps whenever he goes to the rim.

Blazer's Edge Impressive Early Season Blazers Stats

The Blazers have an impressive resume building so far this year.  I'll give the good and a little of the bad too.

Point Differential:  Portland - 95.36  Opponent - 87.9 for a +8.27 differential.  Best in the West.  2nd to Boston (+10.18)

They have a 44.1 to 41.0 FG% differential.  Good for second best in the West behind the Lakers.

19.45 to 15.45 Assists per game differential for Best in the West.  2nd to Boston (+5.63)

+6.90 Rebounds per game differential (44.36 to 37.49)  First in the West.  2nd overall to the Bucks

6.36 - 4.00 Blocks differential.  2nd place Dallas'  6.66 to 4.11.  4th overall (IND, DAL, ATL)

And, unfortunately 11th in Steals differential in the West (20th overall) (PDX - 6.27 [better than only UT PHO]  OPP - 6.90)  -0.63 differential.

It couldnt find an actual overall differential for FG%  But it looks to be near the top from a quick glance down the lines.

It'll be interesting to see how these stats hold up as the season progresses,  but for now,  I'm thoroughly impressed!

Blazer's Edge Kelly Dwyer Gets It, Why Doesn't Nate?

"Steve Blake hit a three-pointer to seal this game, and he scored an efficient 17 points overall (with two assists to three turnovers), but I just can't help but revert back to 2007 and tell you that this guy should be a bit player. 15 minutes a game or so, mainly because Blake just can't guard anyone.

Point guard defense is possibly the most important aspect of today's game, with no hand checking and cleared lanes, and Blake sometimes single-handedly lets Trail Blazer opponents back into the game. Andre Miller isn't that much better, I admit, but Blake is absolutely terrible on that end these days. And don't look at the stats of the opposing point guard to back me up or take me down - it's all about penetration, and the dominos that fall after that."

Hello?  Nate?
