Renteria Signs For The Reds
Well, my dream has finally come true. It´s the St. Louis Cardinals minus TLR, but it comes in disguise as the Cincinnati Reds. I am actually considering rooting for the team based completely out of spite.
Another Bold Yet Dire Cardinals Prediction
Edgar Renteria returns to the St. Louis to shore up the Cardinals infield. This is subsequent to Rasmus Rasmus being traded for an inferior outfielder and Shumaker is once relegated to utility status. Wailing and gnashing of teeth ensues. Cardinals continue to languish in 2nd place status behind Cincinnatti for the remainder of TLR's tenure.
The Prophecy Has Been Fulfilled...
and the Giants are World Series champions, as was revealed to me by the baseball gods a month ago (see the 10/2 fanpost suckas).
Behold!
The 2010 World Series Champions Will Be...
The San Francisco Giants. After a contentious series with old-time rivals Yanks.
Jack Clark Says Cards Have Poopy Pants
Well said. Thank goodness that there's SOMEONE affiliated with the ballclub who's not afraid of calling a spade a spade. Brought to you by the one guy affiliated with the ball club who actually has the cojones to call out LaRussa and McGwire.
Not that Jack is exactly the ballclub's moral compass, but he speaks the truth nonetheless.
The Next Cardinal Manager
After watching the Cards get beat down in person last weekend in DC (and after the Tony LaRussa debacle at the Glenn Beck love-in), I had a funny feeling that I was finally watching the beginning of the end of the Tony LaRussa era. Maybe it was the overpriced beer or the extreme heat, but I experienced... a vision. A vision of the next Cardinal manager. And he was Tony Pena.
That's right, Tony Pena. Any why not? He was my idol while catching for the mid-to-lat 80's Cardinals teams. A very smart catcher and great personality. Won AL manager of the year several years back with the Royals and is currently a coach with the Yankees.
Other upsides: he's Dominican, which should appeal to Pujols. He's a minority, which would appeal to the commisioner (not like I really would care). Furthermore, he was Whitey Herzog's unoffical on-field leader during the 80's heyday. The Anti-Larussa. The answer to our prayers.
