I've been following this website for almost a year and I really enjoy the insight it gives to fans. One thing I want to say that was touched on earlier in the year goes hand in hand with the post about quarterbacks, and that's coaching. I think Cam Cameron really got a bum rap in Miami. First off he was expected to take a team that was already on a downward spiral and turn them around in one year. The NFL is a coaching merry go round, again dictated more by money and politics rather than commitment. It's all about the now. Don't get me wrong I love the Dolphins but I really don't support some of the business decisions that are made. And in retrospect I think the right choice was made. But do I think that Cam Cameron could have made this team a winning, playoff contending team, you bet I do. I really think he could've, and I think somewhere down the road he will become a head coach and prove a lot skeptics wrong.

We need to contain Favre. One thing I have always noticed about the Dolphins is missed tackles. We're quick to the ball but we have problems finishing plays. Roth (And I think Matty has mentioned this before. ) has to step up, he looked good this preseason so lets hope that carries over through the year. And two things I think will be the difference in winning and losing will be turnovers and PENALTIES !!! Delay of game penalties are pointless, and we had a few, and we seemed to be heavy on penalties in general. Basically I think both clubs are on a learning curve so I don't think this games as much about talent then it is about fundamentals. The most proficient team will win, it's the second game that these two play that will be more talent based in my opinion. I look for a sloppy game by both teams but the Dolphins prevail.

I am tired of reading bad crap that he writes about Miami, he dogged Ricky Williams for only playing for money, why does Timmy boy write, just because he enjoys it. I am sick of his mouth he needs to find another team to pick on.
Expectations on young quarterbacks in the NFL i.e. John Beck.

We've seen it a hundred times. Rookie superstar quarterbacks coming out of college getting big money going to sub par teams and being expected to be the team's savior. Well that's too bad, because to me that is a formula for disaster. It seems that all these management groups in the league that run sub par teams (not excluding the Dolphins sadly to say) continue to keep the same track year in and year out. I almost think anyone with some business sense could do a better job. A lot of these teams only care about filling seats. Take the Detroit Lions for example. I have two words for you "Barry Sanders".

They never tried to build anything around him. Joey Harrington could've been an elite quarterback in this league, but he was thrown to the wolves, and from a business prospective when you pay millions for a prodigy you expect him to jump right in and compete. David Carr, Ryan Leaf (I hate to say that one) Matt Leinart, in my opinon, is headed onto that list, along with Alex Smith. Now to some examples of sucess stories: Aaron Rodgers so far seems to look like he will have some sucess, Jay Cutler is on the verge of becoming a star. Tony Romo, who I personally think is slightly overated has had sucess. Each of theses guys were backups, the key to their sucess was having a quality football team around them. Good defense, offense, coaching, management, FANS!!! etc. This brings me to John Beck. I like the guy, he is a class act, but he is just one more example of a good quarterback that has been thrown to the WOLVES! He doesn't have the mental psyche at this point to play the toughtest position on the field for that very reason.

And I bet that Chad Henne won't be put in the same situation this year, although, in my opinion, they are equally talented. Put bad memories in someone's mind and they don't forget, it's no different for him. A coach that never really had a chance to turn things around (Cam Cameron), out of desperation and much influenece from management, the media, and the FANS!!! forced him into making a decision he should have never made, Cleo Lemon should've completed that season, and John Beck should've never left the clip board, and head set. If it transpired that way whether Cam was back this year or not ( That's a whole different can of worms.) John wouldn't be so out of place. I think he is a very, very, good quarterback as far as potential is concerned, but we need to take it slow and let him get his feet under him, gain some confidence- let him know he's gonna be around for a while.

In closing, these kids are paid entirely too much money sight unseen. There is no track record and it places a lot of stress on these athletes. Lower salaries and recognize to rebuild you have to do it from the ground up. Quit trying to replace the Marinos, Montanas, Elways,Kellys and so on. You can't EVER! Just try building an identity with new guys like Beck.

What it means to be a Miami Dolphins fan.

I have been a loyal Dolphins fan since I was 11 years old, I am now 36. It has been one of the best experiences of my life growing up watching guys like Marino, Clayton, Duper, Stevenson, Webb, and a lot of the older guys too. I think you get my point with all the talent that has come through Miami. Need I mention some of the greatest games ever played involved the Dolphins, remember the 1981 playoff game against the Chargers WOW!! The flea flicker was truly amazing. Kellen Winslow being carried off the field. The Monday night game against the Bears in 1985 who will ever forget that one! Then there was the first game Marino ever played in against the Raiders, we lost but we found a quarterback. The 1984 Super Bowl ? I thought we would see Dan in many more of those but it just wasn't to be.

I watched without fail and every year we were so close but we could never crest the mountain, players came and went but no ring. The Bills killed us! And you would think Buffalo with four Super Bowls, they could bring ONE home. We have the best rivalries in football, the Jets, and the BIlls, there is no question about that hands down .

But Miami started to really fall apart toward the end of Don Shula's career. Jimmie Johnson wasn't the answer and Wannstadt basically made Marino retire because he didn't want him. We had Taylor and Thomas the new stars, we had an outstanding defense. But we never seemed to have both during the Marino era until the end, and there was never a running game . And now here we are 2008, and still no ring. But I wouldn't trade these guys for anything. Another great game was last year when we won our only game of the year it was like what I think winning the Super Bowl would be like. I will continue to support the Dolphins even when the chips are down and I honestly I think they can go all the way every year inspite of the odds, hence the saying "Any given Sunday". And not "IF" but "WHEN" it does happen, man it's gonna be SWEET!! And thats what it means to be a true Dolphin fan.

Justin Peelle is gone along with Lex Hilliard check out the link. I completely agree with letting Peelle go, but getting rid of a draft pick was a little strange to me. I was also shocked to here Reagan Mauia is no longer with the team, any thoughts on this? For the record I liked Justin but he just didn't get it done this pre-season and right now the Dolphins are about change. http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afceast/0-2-170/Dolphins--Cutdown-analysis.html

My Prediction for Miami's season

With all the critics out there saying that the Dolphins record will between 3-10 and 7-9, I am going to shock everyone with this. The Dolphins lost numerous games last year by tiny margins. They are obviously better this year. We lost six games by three points, and two by 10 points which I think are winnable games. Our defense is young and aggressive and will keep us in games. If Chad Pennington stays healthy and our backs do what I know they are capable of, we are easily going to be 8-8, and I personally believe that if we beat the Jets in our home opener, and beat Arizona, splitting the first four, we end the season 10-6 with a possible wild card birth.
