I, amongst many other of the core contributors at Stampede Blue, are officially boycotting the site due to the deplorable "leadership" of head blogger BigBlueShoe (Brad Wells). We ask, but do not expect, support, from you, our fellow fans, regardless of your team affiliation. The ideals of fairness and respect that are the foundation of this great sport that we all love should not stop at the chalk on the boundaries of the gridiron, but should continue through to the fans and beyond. To show your support you may email dhalprin123@gmail.com at SBNation and respectfully ask for the removal of Brad Wells as head blogger of Stampede Blue. Thank You.

Battle Red Blog AFC South Eternal Thread #245: Welcome Back, Shake. So Long, NSN.

Hello, NFL fans!

A concept we'll be continuing ad infinitum is the 24-hour open thread for fans of all football, located in the FanPosts section of Battle Red Blog(a special thanks to Tim for allowing such nonsense for the low, low price of 2 Coors Lights). A place where football fans can get together and chat about a variety of topics ranging from football to foot fetishes. Just think of it as your favorite bar/hang-out spot where you can get to know your fellow NFL fans on a more relaxed and personal basis. The point of this thread will be to bring us, the fans of the NFL, together for some friendly conversation and camaraderie. These threads started out as a place for AFC South fans to gather, but it has grown to include fans from various NFL teams with Seahawks, Saints, Patriots, Dolphins, 49ers, Eagles, Jets and Packers fans in residence. Don't ask how that works, just be happy it does.

UPDATE:

We've also been honored to inspire other teams and divisions to form their own 24-hour open threads. We welcome them all as part of our growing network of sister-threads, so stop by and check them out. Just be sure to be respectful of their differing rules and traditions. In short, don't be abrasive until they get to know you a little better.

Jack-A-Thread (JAT) Off-Topic Activities (OTA) at Pats Pulpit: A place for mostly Pats fans, but they welcome all visitors that are not Jets fans or actually from Boston.

APC Open Threads at Acme Packing Company: Real friendly folks who welcome everyone. Headed up by OBrienSchofieldismyHero, a crazy Pack/Pats-loving writer of science fiction and lame jokes. Aaron Rodgers "belt dance" required for admission.

NFC East Eternal Threads (bEAST) at Bleeding Green Nation: They've been around for a while now, but sometimes their threads are a bit more spur of the moment and usually filled with pics and gifs of bouncing boobs. It's a place mostly for NFC East fans and guys with a lot of testosterone, but they'll take anyone with the guts to walk in the door.

Official Community Thread at Niners Nation: They've got topics ranging football to Justin Bieber. Right now, it's mostly 49er fans, but you can help change that! Just watch your language as they have a "no cursing" policy. NOW DEFUNCT

CSC Lagniappe Perpetually Open Thread (POT) at Canal Street Chronicles: If you enjoy discussing time of possession, horror movies, desperate women and no cursing this is your place! Saints fans o' plenty and a few others mixed in as well. Give 'em a hand getting their brand new threads going and stop by for some conversation about Drew Brees' hairline running a 50-yard fade route. NOW DEFUNCT

Daytime Random Live Thread/Cool Kids Club (CKC) at The Phinsider: This is a daytime/nighttime kind of thing. The daytime thread is a little more PG and has a new thread every day. The nighttime thread is more clandestine and only occurs at random intervals and at random locations after hours and disappears by morning. Kind of like the interweb Fight Club for nerdy Dolphins fans. You just keep your fingers crossed and hope you get lucky. CKC was The First, the progenitor, like the Dracula or Blimpies of all off-topic, open threads everywhere (Google it). Bow down and show your respect.

(NEW!) GGN's Thread About Nothing at Gang Green Nation: Newest to the club and in need of a little help getting their threads started, this is a mostly all Jets fan thread started by rexthejet, but they are super-friendly and will accept pretty much anyone with a pulse. So, if you are looking for some Seinfeld gifs and the highest concentration of single Jewish guys on the interwebz stop by and give them a shout.

Rules of the house:

  • Nothing will be considered off-topic other than the usual religion/politics. [EXCEPTION!: SEE BELOW!!!!] NO POLITICS IS NOW A SITE-MANDATED RULE
  • Check your hostilities at the door. All previous problems you have had with other NFL fans will be considered forgotten when you enter the thread. You may encounter others who seem to be ragging on each other. Please don't jump into the argument like you own the place. Things aren't what they always appear to be. It's probably people who know each other extremely well participating in some inside-joking or friendly ribbing.
  • This is not a Game Thread! There are threads already dedicated to this, and for good reason. It's the same reason why I don't watch Pats/Colts games with my Pats-loving brother-in-law anymore. Things get crazy real quick. The Colts game threads will be hosted at The Colts Authority. Feel free to join the fun there.
  • No trolling, please. If the only thing you have to say is, "Colts/Texans/Jaguars/Titans SUUUUUUUCK!!!1!!1" you're not going to make very many friends.
  • If you are having problems with someone in the thread, please email me and we can work together to resolve the issue in-house. Our hope is that this thread will be self-regulated by the fans themselves and won't need any outside intervention. If you don't like what you see, treat it as any other unpalatable link you have clicked on in the past. Apply eye-bleach and move along.
  • Have fun! We're all fans and fellow pathetic computer nerds. We have more in common with each other than we have with most everyone else in the real world. Try to remember that.
  • Try to keep the thread "safe for work" since a lot of the threaders may be viewing from the job site. In other words, TDM loves her boss's boobs, but it would be inappropriate for her to show pics of them on this thread. NOTE: THIS IS NOW A SITE-MANDATED RULE!
  • There’s a lot of joking that goes on around here and it’s usually taken with a grain of salt, but some people are more sensitive to it than others. The line is kind of vague, but I like to think that if it is bothering someone that they should just point it out to the offending party to insure that they know where that line is to avoid future offense.
  • If you were one of the people who rec'd the previous open thread to move it to the Recommended FanPosts section, please go back to that previous thread now and un-rec it. That way, the previous thread will move out of that section, and we won't be cluttering BRB as much. Also, feel free to rec this thread to get it up to the 5 required to move it to the Rec'd FanPosts section, but please don't go above that as it makes it harder to un-rec it later.
  • Read THIS! It is link directing you to a topic that can never be discussed on this site. If you break this rule it may result in warning or banning. So if I were you, I'd read it before commenting on this site, and more importantly, this thread, as it is closely monitored to prevent it's mentioning.

Myself (peytonsurdaddy) and TexansDC from BRB will be hosting the threads. As time goes on we'd like to add a representative from both the Titans and Jaguars fans as well. You may lobby for the position by killing a pedestrian at random being a Titans or Jags fan and just showing up for more than 5 minutes and basically having nothing better to do with your life.

Thanks,

peytonsurdaddy

Feel free to join either one.

Thanks,

Battle Red Blog AFC South Eternal Thread #231: Spin That Meat!

DEFUNCT

DEFUNCT

Pats Pulpit OTA - Off-Topic Activities #19: Some French Crap That I Don't Get

Welcome one and all to the OTA - Off-Topic Activities or Open To Anything or Oughtta Talk Alot or Open Thread All!. The best place to not discuss football at Pats Pulpit.

This is a thread for anyone who would like to enjoy some pleasant conversation that may or may not be football related. This is a place where some of us can get to know each other a little bit better, and on a slightly different level than other places on the site. A thread that may contain at times humorous dialogue, quotes, pictures, or anything else that might entertain. Remember to have a good time! But also please remember to keep it somewhat clean. We'd prefer innuendo over gory details.

Rules

All the rules are based on this: Have fun, but don't keep other people from having fun.

a) Don't troll each other, or attack other members. You learned this in kindergarten.

b) If a picture is NSFW (Not Safe For Work), do not post it as a picture. Instead post it as a link.

c) Be kind to newbies, and help them fit in. Remember to share your crayons.

d) If someone asks you nicely to steer clear of a topic, find something else to talk about.

e) Any and all other SBN and PatsPulpit rules apply. In other words, this ain't Vegas.

Rec this thread, so it stays atop the most rec'd fanposts. Unrec it when another thread is made.

Star-divide

Below is a guide to certain slang, lingo, nicknames, or any kind of term that we use here at the Pulpit.

Format: Term – Definition/ Explanation [Creator of term/First to use]

Citgo – a place where irrelevant people especially in sports will be/ are working.
examples:
What is HC Mangini/a doing now? Working at the Citgo
What is Adiaulus Thomas doing right now? Working at the Citgo.

DDR- Moniker for Lawrence Maroney which describes his tendency to "dance" at the line of scrimmage, in comparison to the style in which players dance of the arcade game "Dance Dance Revolution" (AtomicDawg)
Fredo/Mangina - Nicknames for ex-Pats assistant coach Eric Mangini (creator/first to use term unknown)
Toy Story/Woody/Buzz – Nicknames for RB Danny Woodhead (Richard Hill)
The Executioner- Nickname for Devin McCourty (Comedic.Sans)
Steal This Thread/Jack A Thread – (SlotMachinePlayer/NinjaZX6R) A predecessor of this thread.
Hoodie & BB– Nicknames for HC Bill Belichick; derived from the many hooded sweatshirts he wears in public
GRONK – Usually typed in capital letters, nickname in short for TE Rob Gronkowski

Da Gronk - Dan Gronkowski
Herndo/A-Hern/H-Bomb – Nicknames for TE Aaron Hernandez
Law Firm/Benny– Nickname for RB BenJarvis Green-Ellis; derived for the many combined names he has, which is similar to any law firm made up of 3 or more people
Seabass – Nickname for RT Sebastian Vollmer
Space Emperor of Space – Nickname for P Zoltan Mesko
Smurfs — Nickname for the Patriots’ collection of undersized position players (primarily Branch, Woodhead, and Welker, but may also include Faulk and Edelman) (Created by Comedic.Sans)
Mini Missile/ Ka-Chung!!!!!!- Nickname for our Strong Safety Patrick Chung.
BoB / BooB-Bill O' Brien - Pats offensive Coordinator- Bob; When He is on fire; BooB when he just sucks.
Todd Light- Matt Light- CBS's Jim Nantz calls him that. lol

RaID - Ras-I Dowling - Raiding a receiver near you.

Boomerang/Boomer - Ross Ventrone - A player that's gotten thrown off the active roster repeatedly yet keeps returning to the practice squad, then active roster, then practice squad....

Many thanks to all that have made these threads possible and popular in the past.

Battle Red Blog BRB's 2012 NFL Combine Open Thread, Episode 2: Attack of the Cones

On this final day of the 2012 NFL Combine we find ourselves not only drunk and completely disinterested, but also wondering why we ever thought that watching a bunch of guys running, jumping and doing battle with some traffic cones would somehow fill the hole left in our lives by the absence of actual football.

The really sad part, though, is that by this time next week we will be looking back on these combine memories with a pathetic, wistful longing as the heroin withdrawal-like wait until the draft settles upon us with all the comfort of a whiskey-soaked funeral shroud. So cling to these last moments of cornerbacks and safeties strutting their stuff for they and 23,872,873,587,825 mock drafts to come will be all that sustains you for the next two months!

The combine can be seen close to live at NFL.com.

Battle Red Blog BRB's 2012 NFL Combine Open Thread

Use this thread to discuss 2012 draft prospects as they show off their superhuman powers at the 2012 NFL Combine. Today (Sunday) will see the QB's, WR's and RB's strut around and talk to various low-rent reporters for ESPN. They might run and throw and catch as well. We're not sure yet.

The combine can be seen close to live at NFL.com.

Canal Street Chronicles CSC Lagniappe #5: I Plead the Fif

Welcome to the CSC Perpetually Open Thread!

What's a Perpetually Open Thread? I'll tell you! This is a thread dedicated to all off topic conversations. If there's something that you want to talk about that isn't really relevant to Saints football, can be discussed here. Think about this as a bar/hangout place for people who just want to have some fun with other Saints/football fans.

The whole reason for this thread is to help bring people together and help them get to know other fans on a more personal basis. If this turns out to be a popular activity, we hope to continue this concept as long as possible. However, there are some rules/constraints we have to put on some conversations in order to make sure everyone has an enjoyable experience.

  • The other SBN and CSC rules still apply. No racist, sexist, or personal attacks on anyone. It's vulgar in other venues, it's still vulgar here.
  • As well, no politics or religion talk. Nothing good can come from it.
  • If you think something is Not Safe For Work, don't post it, link it instead.
  • Just because this is an Off-Topic thread, does not mean football talk is off limits! Just remember, keep arguments rational, and don't get personal. If you feel things are getting too heated, step away and take a breath.
  • No trolling. We don't want it, no need for it.
  • On that same vein as the previous rule, you may see some inside jokes. Don't assume you know what's what, make sure to find out what's going on before getting upset.
  • Please rec this thread to make sure this thread stays up until we are ready to dispose of it.
  • No swearing

If you have any troubles with anything going on with this thread, feel free to email me with any concerns about these threads. So long as you come with a mentality of having a good time, and plan on being friendly, we can have all have fun and not have to have mods come in and clean up.

Have fun!

Battle Red Blog Monday Night Football Open Thread

Come one! Come all! The beat-down of the century is about to begin! Tonight the Baltimore Ravens travel to Jacksonville to take on the crap-tastic Jaguars and ply their trade for a packed house of extremely weathered tarps and hobos! This is to be your open thread for discussing the first quarter of the game, then lapsing into fond memories of the Texans going all Chuck Norris on the BESF's yesterday and the Colts sitting comfortably at home on their couches during their bye week (denial fantasy).

So get the popcorn ready and prepare to be either asleep or watching the World Series by halftime!

Battle Red Blog Troll-A-Colts Fan Thread 2011 Edition: Protect Ya' Neck!

Hello, my misguided worshipers of Durga, it's time for our 2011 installment of the Troll-A-Colts Fan smack talking extravaganza! I am peytonsurdaddy, but you may refer to me as PUD seeing that we're such close friends now that I've been sleeping in your basement and peeing on your toilet seat, and I will be your Colts Troll for the week!

I am establishing this thread as a sister-thread to the Ask-A-Colts Fan thread already posted on your front page. Whereas in that thread there are civilized people asking civilized questions about position concerns, statistics and other boring crap, this thread will be dedicated solely to the time-honored tradition of Smack Talk!

Now as much as I'd like this to be a true display of anarchy, we have to establish a couple of ground rules  first.

  1. This is all in good fun. Have fun. Laugh. If you are the kind of person who gets angry when someone says something insulting about your team READ NO FURTHER! Please, click here and visit the other thread and enjoy some real football talk. These comments are only going to anger you.
  2. People are going to respond to your insults with their own insults. If you are one of those people who can dish it out, but you can't take it, this thread isn't for you.
  3. Your site rules and community guidelines are NOT suspended for this thread! I suspect that all the homers here are familiar with what you can and can't say on this site. These rules still apply for the duration of this thread. Please help visiting Colts fans, who are less familiar with the rules, by pointing out the errors of their ways.
  4. NO PERSONAL ATTACKS! Feel free to insult teams, players, coaches, home towns, but please refrain from attacking individual posters. Example of an acceptable insult: So, I heard that Peyton Manning is now a headless corpse covered in unicorn's blood.  Example of an UNacceptable insult: So, I heard your mother likes to cover herself in unicorn blood in an attempt to lure Mario Williams into her bed to impregnate her.
  5. I would like for one of your community, whether it be a mod, writer, or merely a level-headed regular to act as a referee that will let other Texans fans know when they are breaking the rules. I will fill that role for the Colts fans. Volunteers?
  6. Don't ruin this for everybody else by forcing the site moderators to step in and close this thread down.
  7. You can email me if you have a concern that you don't want addressed publicly. My address is listed on my profile.
  8. HOUSTON SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, kick back with your favorite bottle of Clorox and watch your favorite group of underachieving cellar-dwellers get roasted alive by a bunch of homeless Texans fans!

Thanks For Participating,

PUD

Battle Red Blog 2011 NFL Combine Open Thread

Alright, it's time to take a look at some of the possible draft prospects for the 2011 NFL season. I know it's not as exciting as watching your favorite team's opening game of the season or anything, but for the real football junkies out there and in here this taste of the game, no matter how diluted, could mean the difference between shaky equilibrium and full-blown vomiting-on-the-carpet withdrawals. For those of us that have been living through the past several weeks since the Super Bowl in a football-deprived hell, watching fat linemen run the 40 shirtless or catching a glimpse of your team's GM taking some notes on a soiled Taco Bell napkin could be the difference between life and watching NBA basketball death.
Lucky for us and the loved ones who have had to deal with our sulky asses over the past several weeks NFL.com is showing LIVE! coverage of the combine Saturday through Tuesday. Today's coverage begins in just a few minutes at 8 a.m. Central Time. Schedule's after the jump.

Battle Red Blog Who Will You Be Rooting For?

Hello, fellow denizens of the Battle Red Blog! I am peytonsurdaddy (PUD) and as you may well know, I and several dozen of my Colts brethren have been living in your basement (AFC South Eternal Threads) for the majority of this season.I would like to take this moment to thank you on behalf of myself and all the other refugees for being not only such good hosts, but good friends as well. The staff here have been absolutely awesome and I would especially like to thank Tim for being the most awesomest overlord a boy could ever hope for!

From the title of this post you may have deduced that there is a question which I've been wanting to ask. It's a question I hate asking other fans because it's always predicated by that fact that your team has failed to make it to the playoffs.

And that is not happy fun-time for anyone.

At this point all you can do is pick another pony and try to live vicariously through the successes of other more fortunate teams and their happy fist-pumping fans while secretly hating them behind their backs. And since picking a default team to win the Supper Bowel is not included in the golden rule of "Though Shalt Pick One Team To Root For, And One Team Only Shalt Though Pick" I'm going to give you the option of picking a team from both the AFC and the NFC to root for. Well, apparently the software at SB Nation will only allow for one poll per fanpost. Call it Divine Football Gods Intervention if you want. So we'll only be allowing you to choose ONE pony this season. Sorry, but the gods have spoken.

Please use the comments section to further discuss your predictions and/or reasons for your pick.

Have Fun, and Good Luck With Your Fake Team,

PUD

Gang Green Nation Ask-A-Colts Fan: Wildcard Edition

Welcome to the Wild Card Edition of our weekly Q&A thread. I, a Colts fan, am providing this thread as a place where you can get to know your enemy a little better. The strengths, weaknesses, team health and all-around insight into the Colts that only a pack of football-obsessed nerds like us may be able to provide.

The previous versions of these posts went rather well this season. In fact, so far this season, the Troll-A-Colts Fan and the Ask-A-Colts Fan posts we've had may be the high parts of my football season. In the hopes of that being the case again, here's a few guidelines:

  1. I will be establishing a second thread this season entitled Troll-A-Colts Fan to work as a sister-thread to this one. It will be a place where you can go and bash Peighton Menning and his big-headed mama to your heart's content.
  2. Please try to keep the questions and answers football related. Example of a football question: How do you think the loss of Austin Collie will affect your offense Saturday? Example of not a football question: Heard you guys lost Austin Collie for the season. You gonna' cry, baby? GO ON! CRY BABY! CRY!
  3. No attacks please. Let's try to keep this thread civil. Please don't personally attack posters, teams or players. There's a whole other thread for that. If you feel yourself starting to grow angry enough that you feel you have to vent, go to the other thread and scream, "F#$@K THE COLTS DIEDIEDIEDIEDIE!@!!!!!!!!!!!@!11!" all you want. I encourage it and will probably have more posts on that thread than anyone else.
  4. I have no power here. I can't shut down this thread or delete comments, and if I did have that power I wouldn't care to use it. It's not my place to take people to task on this site, for that I look to the other members of this community. It's your job to let others know when they cross the line.

I hope all of your questions get answered to your satisfaction, and may the best team win.

Thank You For Your Hospitality,

peytonsurdaddy

Music City Miracles Ask-A-Colts Fan II

Hello, Titans Faithful! It's time for the second of two Titans/Colts match-ups for the season. Sunday afternoon our teams will square off in a game that means playoffs for the Colts and bragging rights for the Titans!

I, a Colts fan, am providing this thread as a place where you can get to know your enemy a little better. The strengths, weaknesses, team health and all-around insight into the Colts that only a pack of football-obsessed nerds like us may be able to provide.

Example of not a football question: Heard you guys lost Jerraud Powers for the season. You gonna' cry, baby? GO ON! CRY BABY! CRY!
  3. No attacks please. Let's try to keep this thread civil. Please don't personally attack posters, teams or players. There's a whole other thread for that.
