Black Heart Gold Pants Help our oldest, most bitter rival, Purdon't with 2011 schedule opening!

(Ed. Note: Remember, don't just copy and paste entire articles here.  Post a link and an excerpt.)

As reported by Adam Rittenberg over on ESPN (below), our good friends most hated/ ancient rival, Purdue was dumped by Kent State for their 2011 football opener 09/03/2011 for a more challenging (Read: bigger payout) opponent down in Tuscaloosa.

I think, as friends of the Pants, that it is our duty to help the Purdue AD (insert name) with his scheduling headache.

As of now, I"m advocating trying to pay off South Alabama for the now, Open date on the Boiler schedule.

2011 South Alabama schedule

I will submit a list of all qualified candidates to the Purdue athletic office via Fax on or before 11/05/2010. Thanks again for helping Boiler Pete.

Vote after the jump....

Kent State voided its contract to face Purdue on Sept. 3, 2011. Instead, the Golden Flashes will travel to Alabama that day.

Kent State paid Purdue its guarantee of $425,000 to get out of the contract.

It will be interesting to see who's available for Purdue, which has nonconference games at Rice (Sept. 10), at home against Southeast Missouri State (Sept. 17) and at home against Notre Dame (Oct. 1). The Boilers ideally want a seventh home game, but their options could be limited.

Black Heart Gold Pants Help J Leman, jNW and the Flyin' Illini with their new traveling trophy

Apparently our good friends down in Champaign & up in jEvanston need help w/ their new traveling trophy since the Sweet Sioux Tomahawk was retired last year.

"The University of Illinois and Northwestern University are collaborating to establish a new trophy for the winner of the football game between the two institutions.

The Sweet Sioux Tomahawk Trophy, which went to the winner of the Illinois-Northwestern football game from 1945-2008, was retired following the 2008 contest and both schools have agreed to play for a new trophy beginning in 2009.

Both institutions are asking their fans for feedback on the new trophy by participating in an online poll on each of the school's athletics web sites.

Four possible ideas, along with the opportunity to offer an alternative, will be provided until April 15. The schools expect to announce the new trophy around each of their spring football games on April 25."

Please select your favorite idea, or submit your own.

see all the goodness here

a) The Land of Lincoln Trophy - A replica of Lincoln's stove pipe hat mounted on a piece of White Oak (Illinois' state tree).

b) President's Trophy - Recognizing the four presidents associated with the state of Illinois - Lincoln, Grant, Reagan and Obama.

c)  The Popcorn Bowl - Named after the Illinois state snack.

d) Graham-Grange Fire Bell - The original series trophy started in 1941 was a fire bell named after two of the greatest players at each school - Otto Graham of Northwestern and Red Grange of Illinois.

e) Suggest a name for the trophy (write in campaign)...me thinks jLeman will vote for the most Patriotic (that being the Land of Lincoln Trophy).

I'm voting for the Popcorn Bowl. I hope it looks like an 2008 MTV music award.....

Vote Now. Help JLeman, Help America!

Black Heart Gold Pants (Name redacted ) won the 2008 Mountain West Coach of the year Award.

I’m not sure how to feel about this:

a) are you FUCKING kidding me?

Or

b) thanks for nothing.....

i'm thinking of sending a FedEx with dog droppings....too harsh??

i mean, he did win us a few Big 11 tourney titles, something Davis didn't do. (Name redacted ) did make it to the tourney TWICE. then the loss to Cincinnati and the EPIC fail vs. Northwestern State on St. Pat's day...

he left this program in the dumps, then leaves before he gets FIRED. i'm sure someone has an opinion here...

discuss now....
