Lookout Landing Sabres vs. Sens

Wow this is going to be a great series. I'm obviously very upset that my Rangers didn't make it to the Eastern Conference Finals, but this will be a fun series to watch. These teams hate each other. Check out this video if you don't remember their fight from earlier in the year

I guess this is an open thread on the series.

Lookout Landing Week 2

USSM used to do a summary post of the week every Monday and I thought it was a great idea. I haven't seen it yet so I thought I would bang one out and if it's popular, do it every week.

Lookout Landing Attention Hockey Fans

This is pretty OT but I know there's a lot of hockey fans on this blog. As many of you know, tonight is a win or go home game (basically) between the Habs and the Leafs. I imagine this game is going to be pretty crazy. For us American hockey fans, there would usually be no way to watch it. But NHL Center Ice is offering a free preview this weekend. I'm pretty excited to get to see this amazing Hockey Night in Canada matchup.

Lookout Landing Extra Innings Off Cable!

Sometimes, MLB just really pisses me off. The New York Times is reporting that MLB and DirectTV are about to enter an exclusive partnership for showing MLB Extra Innings. Now, a lot of people have been using MLB.tv and I agree, it's good, but MLB should not be restricting the number of people that can see games.

Lookout Landing May Numbers

Just thought I would post how everyone's May was. In the order of the old/standard lineup.

Ichiro! .371/.418/.444 - 9SB, 0CS. - The Ichiro we all know and love.
Lopez - .289/.322/.474 - 4HR, 4BB, 11K
Ibanez -  .237/.318/.421 - 5HR, 14BB, 16K
Big Sexy - .198/.252/.358 - OMG Ouch. 4HR 36!!K's
Dinoman - .291/.336/.388 - 3HR, 6BB, 18K
Beltre - .264/.302/.355 - 1HR, 4BB - I knew Beltre was still struggling but a .302OBP? That's only 18 points higher than April.
Kenji - .280/.320/.409 - 3HR, 5BB, 8K
Reed - .273/.286/.491 - 56AB
Mr. Hustle - .288/.362/.327 - As much as I rip on Bloomie, that's the best OBP for the month besides Ichiro. Not making outs is important, even though the SLG needs to be much higher.
Beta - .289/.303/.392 - 4SB, 2CS

Moyer - 5.06ERA, 1.47WHIP
Washburn - 4.23ERA, 1.23WHIP
Pineiro - 5.26ERA, 1.46WHIP
Meche - 4.93ERA, 1.33WHIP
Prince Felix - 6.31ERA, 1.49WHIP

So we always talk about the hitting needs work and it does, but look at the month of May for our starters. That is pathetic.

Lookout Landing Going To Both Games of M's Series in Chicago

Next week, got tickets to both games of the series. Night game, 2nd row out in right field (I can say hi to Ichiro :)) Day game, 4th row out in left (yay for seeing Ibanez make bad plays.) Only bad part is I'll be about 1/2 hour late to the day game, but I got a great deal. I'm posting this to see if anyone else is in Chicago and will be hitting up one or two games of this series. Go M's!

Lookout Landing Felix Coming to Majors

From the Guys At The U.S.S. Mariner: The News Tribune also is the only paper that made it public that Felix Hernandez is going to start for the Rainiers on Saturday, after working out of the bullpen in scheduled relief appearances since his return from his bout with "bursitis". Saturday is Bobby Livingston's turn in the rotation, but he was assigned to Everett's roster to make room for Jorge Campillo, who made his return to Tacoma yesterday.

Now, it may be a bit confusing as to why Livingston got sent to Everett, but its an on-paper move only, a way to clear a roster spot for a few days. A roster spot will reopen for Livingston this weekend when Felix Hernandez is recalled from Tacoma and joins the Mariner bulllpen. Saturday's start is Felix's last with Tacoma. He'll go back to pitching scheduled relief appearances for the M's during August, and then make several starts in September.

Lookout Landing Looks Like Ichiro Might be Selected for Derby

Major League Baseball is doing an international home run derby this year, to generate publicity for next year's World Cup. 6 players from 6 different countries have confirmed, with only the U.S. and Japan not having players yet. (D. Lee declined for the U.S. because of his injury) Japan needs someone, maybe we can finally see Ichiro? Full ESPN.com story below the fold.
