eventhough i was at the game i just have to see it from the 'on the couch position'. does anyone know what time and channel the game will be replayed at? its one thing to be at the game and watch it and then seeing again on the tv gives me another perspective.

it was a great feeling watching the raiders give the eagles, the haters, and all the media douchbags a big middle finger and win! lets hope they build on what they got done on sunday. my hope is yes they will.

i am coming up on my first anniversary on visiting this blog. i've posted a few fanposts here and there, but always a must daily read for me. i've had alot of fun during the good times and bad. unfortunately theres been more bad than good. hopefully that will all change this year with the team we have and the coach we have. but to get to the point, eversince last years training camp when all the kiffin drama started it seems the media, especially the east coast, has nothing good to say at all, ever. even when the raiders finished strong at the end of the season and even knocked the bucs out of the playoffs. then there was the draft beat down followed up by the espn cris carter, tom jackson dissing DHB infront of his family. now, training camp has started and yet again not much good to say, even some of the local media had not alot of good things to say about cable's first four days of camp. eventhough it wasn't a beat down, there wasn't a whole lotta good press. there was even a quote from the lame new 'sportsnation' show from espn about how the raiders are nothing more than fuel for a dumpster fire. so having said all that, it was good to see a blog from bucky brooks from all places, nfl.com. i'll leave the link below. for all of you who are looking for something positive, its a nice change.

once again, espn takes a shot at the oakland raiders. i was watching the afternoon showing of NFL LIVE on espn today and trey wingo took his shot. not as bad as 'no class' carter or 'jackass' jackson, but still a shot that show espn's continued bias against the raiders. trey was in a doing a report on the willams brothers in minnasota, about their possible suspensions. trey was pointing out the first four games that they would miss, one of which was the detroit lions. trey went on to comment, 'you can't judge a team's success from one season to another on how well they will do, unless of course, your the raiders or the lions.'

now i know the raiders have done nothing to help this in the last six years, but you don't see espn taking shots at lets say, KC, who's record ain't much better and made a stretch on their first round pick. no bagging on KC there. i'm sure there are more example that other bloggers can point out. this is just another example of espn's bias and bullshit that comes out of eastcoast reporting. ESPN, you suck! my hope is that the raiders pound the competion and force all the haters to suck it. my word to the raider nation is when espn comes to oaktown for any reason, bag on them.

i know that the link below is off another blog site, but please forgive me, it came off the raidernew.com site. give it a read because alot of it made sense. after the light bulb went on in my head things became clearer. if you look at the attitude of nfl players, not just with the raiders but with the whole league, you can see the me first and i got my money attitude perpetuating the nfl. players showing up late to meetings, taking plays off during games, and not caring. why, because they got their 15 million to 30 million guaranteed money, so why should the care. players like that feel its their right to be in the nfl, that they belong there, instead of it being a privledge. perfect example....plaxico burgess. i'm sure there are alot more example just like him over the last three to five years.

i like what cable has done with the re-signings, the draft, and the udfa's. i don't how much was him convincing al this is the way to go or how much of it was mutal or if it was all al. i don't care. i truely believe that you put a bunch of guys that have athleticism who will play for each other, who will play for the team, the coach, the organization, the raider nation will find a way to win and never give up.

enjoy the read:

I apologize in advance if someone has alread posted something similar to this. i'm a bit behind since coming back from a family reunion in Tahoe. I've posted two links below, both having to do with espn and their bias, lack of class, and just plain unobjective reporting when it comes to the raiders. please view them inorder it will make more sense. also, be sure to watch the video link on the first one. the video itself just made me sick.

this all stems from our first round pick, DHB. i was watching the draft from a sports bar in reno. my reatction was not of that of most of raider nation and the critics. i had heard about this kid way back in january. yes, maybe alittle high for a no.7, but who really knows what happened during the draft with trying to trade down. anyway, that being said, there is no way that this kid ,DHB, deserved the treatment and being made fun of by tom (jackass) jackson, trent dilfer, and cris carter, especially infront of his family. and for what it is worth, i hope DHB makes the pro bowl his rookie year and makes cris(where my crack torch)carter neal down and apologize to him.

I'm sick and tired of espn and all the east coast reporting done on the raiders. its time something needs to be done about it, a boycott, e-mail campagin, whatever. i'm all for anyone having there own opinion, BUT DON'T CALL YOURSELF A REPORTER/INSIDER AND A WORLD WIDE LEADER IN SPORTS WHILE DOING IT! a reporter is objective and unbias, espn clearly is not. here are the links.

this could be to much to ask for. could al be really doing things right this year. chekc out the link:

http://raiderbeat.com/?p=684

if this article is on the level things could be looking even better. first, shane is signed to a 4 year deal so we don't need to tag him. second, chris j. is signed to secure one corner position. now, if asamugha signs as the article indicates, the other corner position is clamped down and asamugha is here to stay for a couple of years. no tag needed and more cap room depending how they structure his contract. its hard for me to believe that this could really happen. its hard to believe that things could be happening in a positive way for the raiders. if this goes through, half our secondary is set. with gabriel at safety, we just need to find another, and then you've got the best punter in the nfl to keep the ball pinned back in the enemies territory. check it out and tell me what you think.

here's an article you should check out. make sure you read it all the way to the end. the writer poses some good questions.

http://www.ibabuzz.com/raidersblog/2009/01/14/espn-mort-said-he-was-sorry/

in my view, mortenson should have done this on air prime time news conference style. i haven't had a whole lotta love the espn the past few years or for any east coast news team for that fact.

in addition, just like in football, everyone should be held accountable. in my opinion mortenson falls way short

The Rooney Rule

i had read some comments in some of the past post about the Rooney Rule. i just wanted to blog down some thoughts. having come from a corporate work place (happily out of it now) i can understand this rule and why it IS needed in the nfl. Let me first say that it is concerning that there aren't more minority head coaches at the pro and college levels. also, al davis was the pioneer when it came to hiring the likes of art shell, tom flores, etc.

in my view, there is such a surplus of qualified canidates for head coaches in this industry that just getting an interview is a major deal. alot of the time, its not what you know, its who you know, just to get in the door. some say that its a waste of time for qualified minority canidates to be interviewed. they choke, stumble, and so on. but that is the point. going through the process is what its all about. a minority canidate may have all the football knowledge of the gods, but may lack the interview skills or front office mojo needed to convey schemes, critical points of interest, or overall winning football philosphy. this is mostly because they were never exposed to that atmosphere to learn and gain experience. hence the rule. this gives good coaches a chance that they might never get, even to just get interviewed. and, if they are any good, they will learn and grow from the process reguardless of the outcome of the interview.
