I'm not sure if this has been talked about, and if it has feel free to delete this.  I see Orlando Hudson is still a free agent.  I dont know how much he will cost but this close to spring training I would guess he might be getting cheaper.  He seems like a good fit for 2nd to me.  I honestly dont know a lot about it however he seems to have good range and have some pop in his bat.  Would it be worth exploring or should we see what happens with the Peavy deal.  I see a lot of chatter on many sites and shows about the sale of the cubs and them signing Peavy.  Then I also here the GM in San Diego "expecting him to be a Padre" on opening day.  I know they all want that but who really knows. 

I see the Dodgers have released Andruw Jones.  It looks like all we would have to pay is $400,000 for him and they would pay the rest.  I think he would do nicely in Chicago.  We all know he has been  the greatest center fielder in baseball for a long time.  He offence is in question now but for the price why not.  Jim Edmonds did it why cant Andruw.   Thoughts on this possibilty? 

Of all the things that need to happen in this off-season, we need to get a new first baseman.  Delete this post if you want but I got real tired of watching him kill ralleys.  Yes is a great defensive first baseman save for the error in the 2nd game but it happens and I'm ok with it more or less.  But even I could stike him out with 3 balls low and away and he would swing at everyone.  Its very frustrating to watch a guy act like there is no problem with his at bats.  You never once heard him say anything about need to get better at bats.  I know not all outs are bad but double plays are always bad.  When he did drive the ball there were 2 outs or he was leading off the inning.  I also feel signing Jim Edmonds and Reed Johnson wouldnt be the worse thing that could happen.  For what those two will cost and how we can platoon them and bat them against different people, no one center fielder will do that well.

I know it seems odd but I think its for the best.  To sit DLee for a couple games and get Michah in there.  DLee needs to change something about his approch.  His rolling over on pitches he should be crushing to the gaps.  The last couple weeks he has been in big spots and has GIDP so many times and has hit weak ground balls for outs.  Yes it will happen but if you look at some of the pitches he is doing that with, they are middle in and belt high.  That is his spot and in April and May those balls were gifts to the bleachers.  I think Michah is good enough at 1st and has the power we can use.  Bringin Sori back will help but not enough for us to get out of this funk. 

What is so wrong with him that everyone wants to get rid of him.  Yes yes I know all about the 2nd half problems.  He is also a very good "baseball player" as he says.  And we do not have a good starter to replace him.  I think we dump Neal Cotts to AAA if anything.  He has not inpressed me at all.  Jason gives us that extra guy on the bench that can run, hit, steal a base, drop down a bunt.  He is a needed person on the Cubs bench for us to do well in the 2nd half.

Ok as I was watching the game last nite.  While hoping and actually expecting a come back win in the 9th and figuring on it when we had the bases loaded and no outs.  I was pondering why the hitters that were up, were up.  I know Ronny has been doing very well this year, but he is still a stricke out man.  Then nothing against Hank White but, again, he has struggled at times like that.  I thought out of one of them one could have made a perductive out and got at least 1 and should have been 2 runs in to tie the game.  I didnt see the entire game but maybe an annoying hitter like Fontenot would have been a good choice for a suicide squeeze or even Dempster, he can get the bunt down.  Granted that would have given it away but let pull the bat back and swing away at the first one.  Just my thoughts but I guess its good to end a streak because it gives you a reason to start another winning streak.

Ok every cubs fan out there jump on!!  NO ONE thought he would be helping this team as much as he has in the short time he has been here.  Today with the 3-2 victory and SWEEP of the HOT-lanta Braves he scored the only two runs we had until Reed took his spot and took one for the WIN!!  If not for Jimmy we would have lost and wondered what-if.  Any other comments???
