The Falcoholic Updated Mock

I'm not going to do a actual mock given the fact that my last mock could still happen. I will however give a list of players I would like or could see us drafting today in the 2nd or 3rd.

Some positions will be left off early(QB,CB,etc.)

2nd.

Coby Fleener/TE: Long shot but I wouldn't put it past TD to trade up a little to get the best TE in this draft.

Dwayne Allen/TE: Not my first choice but his value could be too good to pass up at 55.

Cordy Glenn/OG: Some see him as a OT but IMO he fits better at OG. Again a long shot.

Brandon Thompson/DT: Rumors are the Falcons really like this guy. Wouldn't be my first choice but his value is good at 55.

Mike Adams/OT: My least favorite choice. Has red flags and really isn't that strong. He could be a viable back up but why risk it in the 2nd.

Mitchell Schwartz/OT: Again not the biggest fan of Schwartz. He would however be a better pick than lets say Massie or Adams.

Jon Martin/OT: Another long shot, he could go to Stl. at 33. I really would be shocked if TD traded up for him.

Kelechi Osemele/OG: Ehhh. He is ok. He'll be a decent starter but that's it.

Amini Silatolu/OG: My pick for OG if we go that direction. Dude plain and simple is big and nasty. Brings back memories of Dahl with this dude.

Brandon Brooks/OG: More of reach here but a solid prospect. Nothing special.

Kendall Reyes/DT: Could be in play but I doubt he slips. Would be a nice pick up at 55.

Andre Branch/DE: Doubt he falls but hey anything can happen. More of a one trick pony as of now but that one trick we desperately need. Pass rushing.

Vinny Curry/DE: Boy do I hope he falls in striking distance. More of an complete DE. While not really athletic as some other DE's, he is savy and has a crazy motor.

Chris Polk/RB: Again long shot. More in the sense that we don't take a RB this high and frankly there are better options than Polk out there at RB.

Lamar Miller/RB: Again I doubt we go this direction but you can never count out a U RB. So I won't with Miller who is a better compliment to MT than Quizz.

Peter Konz/OC: Doubt he makes it past 40 but he could be in play for us. Best center in the draft.

Ben Jones/OC: A bit of a reach. I've seen some mocks where they have him going as late as the 5th. We could possibly trade down and grab him since he is a great prospect and we have the need.

George Iloka/S: A big safety who is solid against the run but suspect against the pass. No go for me.

Lavonte David/OLB: Doubt he falls. Really not a need for us but his value would be too good to pass up.

3rd.

Alameda Ta'amu/NT: My choice for our 2nd round pick. Big, athletic, nasty NT to anchor our D line. Hope we go this direction.

Cyrus Gray/RB: Best RB in the draft outside of Richardson IMO. Quick, shifty, and a great pass blocker he can contribute from Day 1.

Cam Johnson/DE: If we do miss out on Curry or just go a different direction he could be plan B in the 3rd.

Orson Charles/TE: Once ranked as the best TE in the draft has seen his stock slip. A better WR than TE he could contribute in the red zone right away.

Ladarius Greeen/TE: A lot of guys like him but he is also a better WR than TE. He will be a beast going deep and in the red zone but that's about it.

Jeff Allen/OT: Better OG than OT but he would be a solid pick in the 3rd.

Jake Bequette/DE: More savy than athletic would be another good fall back guy if we miss out on Curry or Branch.

Mychal Kendricks/ILB: On the short side for a LB, he does have decent instincts. To me he doesn't present a better array of skills to beat out Tatupu or Dent so why waste a high pick?

Tyrone Crawford/OLB: More of a 3-4 OLB but he could be in play for us. A good pass rusher and underrated in the running game should be just as good as he counter part in Chicago.

Demario Davis/OLB: Hoping he falls to us in the 5th but we could play it safe and draft him here. He can play inside or out and is a beast.

So there are a few of the players I like and think we might target tonight.

Feel free to discuss.

The Falcoholic My submission mock

Ok I promise this is my last mock. Supposedly Dave is having a mock contest and the winner gets some kind of a "prize". So I thought I'd make a run at another mock. I'll make it quick.

2nd: Alameda Ta'amu/NT/Wash.: Rumors are that we might sign Franklin( who formerly played under Nolan) but at the age of 31 he definitely isn't the future. While some what of a reach in the second, Ta'amu quite frankly is a beast. He can rush the passer, stuff the run, and would be perfect for our new hybrid defense. He reminds me of Ngata and should provide that inside rush we need.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWOOA2V1k1k( Ta'amu vs Wash. St 2011)

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUxVOEGGz0s( Ta'amu vs Utah)

3rd: Cam Johnson/DE/UVA: He really isn't my top choice but given the fact we desperately need a pass rusher he fits the bill. While coming off of an knee injury he had a pretty decent season. Hopefully he's back to full health. He has underrated athleticism and also can play 4-3 end or 3-4 OLB.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqiEROuemJc( Cam Johnson vs Miami 2011)

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93aEZHZcYAc( Cam Johnson vs GT 2011)

5th: Jarius Wright/WR/Ark.: One of the best steals of the draft. I call him the black Wes Welker. At 5-10, 176 he isn't that big and more quick than fast but dude just seems to find a way to get open. Solid hands and high football IQ, he should take HD job from day 1. MR is going to love this guy on 3rd downs.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pA2f__IFjYA( Jarius Wright vs Texas A&M 2011)

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_3lL8jiKaI( Jarius Wright vs South Carolina and Vandy)

6th: Evan Rodriguez/TE-FB/Temple: We are most likely going to grab a late round TE. This would be my pick. He can block, has solid hands, and underrated fluidity. He can develop very nicely behind Gonzo.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7t_qeeHEJ3Y( Evan Rodriguez vs Miami(OH) 2011)

7th: Traded for Asante. Hopefully this happens. Might turn out to be a 6th.

7th: James Carmon/LT/Miss. St.: A former DT, this dude is a giant of a man. While raw as hell he has improved every game at Miss. St. He is going to need some time to develop and spend some time on the pratice squad. All goes well he can turn into a solid starter or decent back up at worst.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6Nicj46NTc( James Carmon DT tape 2008)

UDFA:

Adonis Thomas/RB/Toledo: Quick, shifty runner who could complement Quizz in the pass game.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eG0cND4lz9I( Adonis Thomas vs N. Illinois 2011)

Dan Persa/QB/NW: Great pocket awareness and good accuracy quite frankly dude is a gamer. Should be a great back up.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fS2JvRs3UkQ( Persa Highlights)

Scott Smith/DE/Texas Tech: Big, athletic DE who cold be a surprise at camp. Could use a year or 2 of seasoning.

David Snow/OC/Texas: Underrated OC prospect who is savy with a high football IQ. Could be another sleeper and potential starter in the future.

Trulon Henry/S/Ill.: Former LB who missed a year after being shot in the hand. He is way off the radar since he did spend time in jail but he has potential. Not as big of a risk since he is going to be a UDFA. Good instincts and great burst he could surprise and make the team.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qdqz6DCLNn0( Trulon Henry Junior Highlights)

So that's my submission. Discuss.

The Falcoholic Mock Draft 5.0

Wow already 5.0. Time flies huh but any who I am back to deliver another mock scenario. I been looking at the mocks on here lately and to be honest they have been way more realistic then mine. I doubt our draft will go anything like this but for the sake of argument I will go ahead anyway.

There has been alot of speculation about where we should go with our 2nd round pick. I hear alot of people saying we should go BPA and other say we should draft the best LT,TE, or DE available. I am going to go a different route. I say we trade down. There are a couple teams who could be possible trade partners. I will select the Dolphins who have 2 3rd's and are in dire need of some offensive weapons. I say we trade our 2nd to Mia for their #72 and #103 picks. We get what we need (more picks) and they get a shot at a TE or WR(which IMO is probably Brian Quick) to help out whoever their QB might be next season.

So here we go

3rd(#72 from Mia): Matt McCants/OT/UAB: Again my favorite LT prospect outside of the 1st round. Many scouts have compared him to Demetrius Bell. He has outstanding athleticism for his size (6'6, 308) and what's amazing is he still fairly raw. With a LT crop this weak in the draft you better grab one early. He has tremendous upside and should compete with Svitek for the starting role from day 1.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zn3y2-LW5h4( McCants vs Mississippi St. 2010)

3rd(#84): Cyrus Gray/RB/Texas A&M: Personally he is my favorite RB in this draft. He reminds me of Lesean McCoy on tape. He is quick and cuts on the dime. A tenacious blocker with soft hands and some underrated power. He is a OL delight due to his ability to create holes with limited space to work with. His coaches rave about his work ethic. He's a team first guy who should complement our stable very nicely and make the transition from the power game that much smoother.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiKfS2Olc9I( Gray vs LSU Cotton Bowl 2011)

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VIQuGfuX-w( Gray draft analysis 2010)

4th(#103 from Mia) Akiem Hicks/DT/Regina(Can.): A big boom or bust guy has got a lot of attention of late and could be taken before the 4th. A long arm freak with exceptional burst off the line. He would be the inside pressure we have been dying for. Only concern is he is raw as hell and needs to work on his technique. With some work he could be a pro bowler in a couple of years.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJWWzCm9ivk( Highlights from Regina Rams no sound)

5th(#157) Demario Davis/OLB/Ark. St: A beast of an athlete. Probably the fastest OLB in the draft outside of Zach Brown. Is a force in the run game and is fluid enough to be effective in coverage. He can rush the passer and has great instincts. With Nicholas often injured and no real back up he could come in handy in Nolan's base nickel as the "joker" since he can rush the passer, play the run, and step back into coverage. Which would be vital to the success of this new defense.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cna0nfTnfoQ( Demario Davis vs N. Illinois 2011)

6th(#192) Evan Rodriguez/TE/Temple: IMO the most complete TE in the draft outside of Fleener and Allen. A former basketball stand out and safety he is a supreme athlete. Saying he was underutilized at Temple would be a understatement. He mostly was used to block for Bernard Pierce and run flats on play actions. He is a fluid runner and one of the best blockers at the position in this draft. With some tutelage from Gonzo he could have a huge impact for this team.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lD0wCu8gmzo ( Rodriguez vs Wyoming 2011)

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7t_qeeHEJ3Y( Rodriguez vs Miami(OH) 2011)

7th(#229) David Snow/OC/Texas: It's kinda rare to find a guy from a big school like Texas flying under the radar but we find it here in Snow. He is a tenacious competitor with an high football IQ. He doesn't look the part of a starting caliber center but has all the intangibles. He shined at the East West shrine game playing both OC and OG. Shows the ability to anchor and mirror defenders. Isn't really athletic but is a savy player who gets the job done. Could be a potential steal this late in the draft.

No tape on Snow

7th(#249 compensatory pick) Dan Persa/QB/ NW: My favorite late round QB prospect. Short in stature with adequate arm strength and great accuracy this kid might be too good to pass up here. I don't believe any one on this blog would be comfortable with Redman taking the snaps if MR should go down( knock on wood). So we do need a back up QB or at least one to compete with Redman for that second slot. Some scouts have compared him to Chase Daniels but I think he has way more potential. Giving the fact he played in a conference where they actually plays defense. His intangibles are off the charts and plain and simple dude is a gamer. I would love to have a safety net like this kid just in case anything ever happens to MR.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fS2JvRs3UkQ( Persa's highlights)

UDFA

Scott Smith/DE/Texas Tech: Missed most of last year due to breaking the team rules. He is a JUCO transfer and a former basketball stand out. Has great size at (6'6, 261) and is athletic as all hell. He is also raw as all hell and will need to be coached up. He played in 4 games for the Red Raiders before being suspended and had 14 tackles( 4 TFL), 3 sacks and a int. He has alot of upside and could have a big impact if given the opportunity.

No tape on Smith.

Tony Dye/SS/UCLA: After a great pro day I'd be shocked if he didn't get drafted. He is a stud with great instincts and a hard hitter. Is great in run support but he does need to work on his coverage skills particularly his ball skills and coming out off his stance when playing in the slot. Reason he is a potential UDFA is because of his injury concerns.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IF7BtMRFMDk( Tony Dye vs Kansas St and USC 2010)

Desmond Marrow/DB/Toledo: A raw prospect who has rebounded from two injuries in his college career. Has nice size at (6'3, 210) most likely will move to FS in the NFL. Ran a 4.49 40 at his pro day which has caught the attention of some scouts. Registered 81 tackles last year(51 solo), 3 ints., and 15 pass break ups.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_JOyQ2HKy8( Marrow 1 handed int in spring game)(poor quality)

Wayne Tribue/OG/Temple: A big nasty physical OG who has a mean streak. Most likely music to Pat Hill's ears. A converted OT who had trouble dealing with speed on the outside. Kick him in and his power and lateral agility should give him a opportunity to be a starter at the next level.

No tape on Tribue.

Kashif Moore/WR/UConn.: A small WR (5'8, 180) is more quicker than fast and isn't really much of a deep threat but boy is his intangibles crazy. Ran a 4.42 at the combine, bench pressed 225 19 times( same as Mike Adams), and was a top performer in the vertical jump, cone drill, and 20 yard shuttle. Is a high character guy and should provide us with a dynamic KR/PR if no of our other guys can step up.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8orA8IEQYsw( one handed TD catch)

So there you have it feel free to discuss.

The Falcoholic Mock Draft 4.0

Back again to deliver another mock. I wanted to wait after FA just to see if we made any moves( which so far is nothing) since we do still have some holes on this team. With no big splashes in FA I assume the FO might try to acquire some players through trade or trade players for picks. As of right now no one knows.

I'll assume we make no trades or receive any compensatory picks.

2nd.(#55 overall): Phillip Blake/OC/Baylor: As much as I would love to retain McClure I doubt he stays. Hawley is a decent center but I doubt he is our long term solution. Blake has the potential to be a stud in the NFL. Big and powerful he also has nimble feet. A former RT he can mirror DT's but can be beat by quicker DT's. He isn't overly athletic but can get to the second level and take on LB's when needed. His technique needs to be improved and he is a little bit older than most prospects(26) but I think he can become a solid starter for us at the least.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSOur_TLyrc&feature=relmfu( Interview not game tape)

3rd.(#86 overall): Terrell Manning/OLB/NCST.: A undersized OLB with great instincts and character. If he had prototypical OLB size he would be a 1st round OLB. He has crazy athleticism and good sideline to sideline speed. Takes good angles and is a sure tackler. Underrated as a pass rusher as well. Has drawn comparisons to Clay Matthews in his pursuit for the QB due to his leverage, speed, and tenacity. He should be able to start WLB from day 1 and if he adds a little weight could move him to strongside as well.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGnSIs1TZ3U( Manning vs Louisville)

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcTR3VCjRLI&feature=related( Manning vs WF)

5th.(#150 overall): Mike Daniels/DT/Iowa: A undersized DT who has a great burst and balance to get through the line and wreck havoc on opposing QB's. Had a solid year in 2011 in 13 starts with 67 tackles, 13.5 TFL, and 9 sacks. He has a relentless motor. He does need to hit the weight room and add some power if he wants a starter role but should contribute as a situational pass rushing DT.

6th.(#183 overall): Chase Ford/TE/Mia.(FL): Unless someone slips I doubt TD drafts a TE early. Green could be in play in the 3rd but he also could be gone by time we draft. This is probably Gonzo's last year and getting a developmental TE might be the best way to go here. Ford has the size (6'6, 258 lbs) and has soft hands. Catches almost every thing thrown his way. Doesn't have elite speed but is reliable on 3rd downs and should be a great red zone target. Needs to improve his blocking but I doubt he will be in that role too often. TD probably drafts the TE for the future next year but grabbing a developmental guy couldn't hurt.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkqnzyQhctc( JUCO highlights)

7th.(#205 overall): Dan Persa/QB/NW: Even though we recently signed Redman our back up QB spot is far from settled. We need to get a younger and better option to back up MR if anything happens. Persa is my favorite late round QB. He is a gamer with good pocket awareness and great accuracy. His arm strength isn't all that great but dude is a gamer and will lay it out every time he gets on the field.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoOV6_mI5j4&feature=related( NW vs Central Michigan 2010)

So there it is feel free to comment.

The Falcoholic Mock 3.5 Let's get crazy!!

Their have been many mocks lately and there starting to look just alike( no offense). So I decide to make a fun mock(sorta) for discussion purposes. So here we go.

First there's a trade. We trade MT and our 5th to KC for Ricky Stanzi and Tony Moeaki.

Ok before you click off this post hear me out. This is a great trade for us(IMO) and for the chiefs as well. First, the Chiefs get what they need. MT would be the thunder to Charles lightning. The Chiefs where a playoff team when they had the duo of Jones and Charles. MT would be very efficient behind that line and plus it would take pressure off of KC starting QB(whether that is Orton or Cassel).

Why is this good for us you ask? We get a future superstar in Moeaki and possibly a future HOF in Stanzi. I know, I know I'm crazy right. If Stanzi is so good why did he last to the 5th round? I think Stanzi has the best potential out of the QB crop from last year's draft and will be some what of a Brady to Luck's Manning(If that makes sense). He would have played in some games this year if Haley wasn't such a douche. He has all the makings of a stud. Started 4 years in college in a pro style offense, has great footwork and accuracy, has mental toughness to lead his teams in cruch time, and plus he has some athleticism. He will be a stud in a couple years( trust me) but as of right now he would seal up our hole behind MR.

As for Moeaki he is coming off of an injury and KC might be looking for insurance at the TE position in this draft. He showed alot of potential in his rookie season and was due for a break out season this year before his injury. He could learn to thrive under Gonzo's tutelage and could possibly be his replacement.

So now on to the draft. Again I will assume we get a 4th for Dahl.

2nd: David Wilson/RB/VT: One of my favorite RB's in the draft. He is a solid built kid with a great burst and good top end speed. Runs like a mini AP with his burst and his low pad level. Isn't afraid to run some one over but also has the agility to make a defender miss. He has soft hands and is great in the screen game. Also has some potential as a KR/PR. He does need to improve on his pass blocking and securing the ball better but with a backfield of Wilson, Snelling, and Quizz our offense would be potent to say the least.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCgocOyRWhE( Wilson vs WF 2011)

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3wxt4Oqpl84&feature=related( Highlights)

3rd: Ladarius Green/TE/La-Lafayette: I think most falcoholics would agree offense isn't our biggest concern but after the effort they put up against the Giants it's easy to disagree. Our defense isn't our biggest concern especially with a competent DC( a great one at that) and some solid pieces on the unit. This is mostly BPA right here. I saw a fanpost awhile ago suggesting the idea of us running a 2 TE set offense similar to the Pats. This guy would definitely help. Green is just too talented to pass right here. At 6'6, 234 lbs he is a mismatch nightmare for any defense. He has underrated speed and great hands. He is deep threat with long strides and would be a great complement to JJ. He does need to improve on his route running on short to intermediate routes and of course his blocking. He still is a little raw but you can't teach size and with him RW becomes more likely to be traded.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIY2E556BdY( Green vs SDSU 2011)

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMlvF9WSPhg( Green vs Ark. St 2011)

4th(compensatory pick): Alameda Taamu/DT/Wash.: This dude is a steal right here. I doubt he falls this far but some mocks have him this late. I think he is Haloti Ngata 2.0. I think we will most likely address a possible NT or DT in FA. If he is on the board though we should take him. He is a massive force at 6'3, 336 lbs and has surprising agility for his size. Most likely will have the most reps in the bench press at the combine. He has a high motor but needs to improve on anchoring against double teams to be legit as a 3-4 NT but he has all the potential to be a disruptive force in the NFL.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUxVOEGGz0s( Ta'amu vs Utah 2011)

6th: Demario Davis/OLB/Ark. St.: Another sleeper right here. Outside of Zach Brown is the fastest OLB in this draft. Has fluid hips and can change direction on the dime. Has natural instincts and seems to be always around the ball. Is solid against the run but does need to improve in coverage. A solid tackler who could be a D.J. Smith type of steal in the later rounds.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cna0nfTnfoQ( Davis vs N. Illinois 2011)

7th: Jeremy Lane/CB/Northwestern St.: Not to be confused with Jeremy Lin. A big corner (6'0, 183 lbs) with long arms has nice size and can fill out his frame at the next level. Is comfortable in press coverage with those long arms and has good recovery speed. Won Defensive Player of the game in a all star game for eligible NFL draft prospects from schools like LSU, Penn St., Oklahoma, Baylor and many more. Also got rave reviews from Houston Nutt and some guy named Pat Hill( yeah never heard of him either).

No vids on Lane.

So there it is feel free to comment below.

The Falcoholic Mock Draft 3.0

My favorite time of the year. Draft season. Combines, pro days, and speculation on the future of all 32 teams. Ahhhh. Ok back to business. There have been alot of good mocks on the forum lately and hopefully I can keep this ball rolling.

Again in this draft I will assume we get a compensatory pick for Dahl. Most likely a 4th.

2nd: Travis Lewis/OLB/Okla.: Now I HIGHLY doubt they go this route with their 1st pick in the draft but for discussion purposes I have us drafting him. I will try to make a case for this pick. When I first heard of Lewis I always envisioned a LB core of Lofton, Lewis, and another LB(in this case being Spoon) terrorizing opposing offenses. Even though Nolan is our DC and a 3-4 base might be in the near future as of today we still are a 4-3. Nolan has emphasized on secondary play but to me the most versatile position on the D is the LB core. We arguably already have one of the best LB cores in the league. I think we complete that with Lewis. He is a fiery kid, with great instincts. He also is experienced and great in coverage and a savvy blitzer. If Nolan doesn't believe that Lofton is a 3 down LB then Lewis could also fill in for him.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAtNJ13-gdg

3rd: Matt McCants/OT/UAB: A big LT( 6'6, 294 lbs)with long arms who has little experience and has some athleticism. His upside is high because he is still raw but has the footwork and size to be a starting caliber LT or RT in the league. He has elite range and has the athleticism to carry rushers around the pocket. Also is good in the run game and is athletic enough to get out and block downfield. Still has room to fill out his frame and has been compared to the Bill's Demetrius Bell by some scouts.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evNCuVJkGI0( Senior Bowl interview not film)

4th(compensatory pick) Joe Adams/WR/Ark.: Rumors are HD will be leaving. If he does we will need to fill that void. Really don't like the options in FA and the mid rounds are full with potential slot WR's. Adams is that guy. This dude will help out MR tremendously. He is so dynamic it should be on the back of his jersey in place of Adams. He reminds me of Cruz a little bit. Although his hands are inconsistent at times once the ball is in his hands he has that "score whenever he has the ball" type ability. He also is a dynamic returner who will take Weems job from day 1. He needs to improve his route running but he is by far the best YAC receiver in this draft.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxW2mL8BbOA( Punt return against Tenn.)

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byPjkmgUcWg&feature=related( 92 yard TD vs Tenn.)

5th: Evan Rodriguez/TE/Temple: Rodriguez( to me) is one of the most complete TE's in this draft. Since the NFL is becoming a passing league teams are looking more for TE's who are tweener WR's. I still like the old school receiving and blocking TE's. He was severely underused at Temple. He is a former basketball player with soft hands and is a fluid route runner. He is a bit undersized but under the tutelage of Gonzo should be a great replacement for the HOF.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7t_qeeHEJ3Y( Rodriguez vs Mia. OH)

6th. Micah Pellerin/CB/Hampton: A great sleeper pick. Is a long(6'0,195 lbs), physical corner with great closing speed and nice ball skills. Is a very smart kid with a thirst for competition. He is fiery and loves a challenge. Was #1 in the FCS in total passes defended last year. He seems to be destined to make a impact in the NFL and hopefully it's with us.( No film on him)

7th. Dan Persa/QB/NW: I prefer Persa over say a Austin Davis or Kellen Moore. He has a decent arm and very good accuracy. He also is sneaky quick and has good pocket awareness. Dude is a gamer plain and simple. Really didn't have to many weapons to work with and still made NW viable in the Big Ten. Reminds me a little of Drew Brees( coming out of Purdue) on tape.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gi7J7ED675I

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaCFzzIIDFs&feature=related( NW vs Vandy 2010)

UFA's:

Janzen Jackson/FS/McNeese St.: A former 5 star recruit coming out of high school was dismissed from Tenn. for off the field issues. He had 31 tackles, 5 passes broken up, and 2 ints this past season. He would of been a 3rd pick if his charatcer was higher. I wouldn't waste a pick on him but he could become a stud if he gets his stuff together.

Donte Paige- Moss/DE/UNC: Coming off a ACL injury and having many character issues he shouldn't get drafted. He should although get a invite to camp. He does has some nice tools and can play inside or out. If he gets his head right the talent is there to become a impact player.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLGOImoth1E

Jeremy Ebert/WR/NW: We grab Persa's team mate. Plays faster than 40 time would tell and has soft hands. A good slot prospect who is clutch on 3rd downs.

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZuSTp9ARM4(81 TD vs Neb, also can look at Persa's links.)

Lyndon Rowells/RB/Humboldt St.: A very shifty runner with great hands who could warrant a pick with a good pro day. He has some surprising power along with great explosion and balance. Set a GNAC single season record with 1,417 yards and 14 TD's.

The Falcoholic Mock Draft 2.0

What is going on's people. I am here to present another mock draft(screams from all over the forum). My last mock I had us trading MT to the Jets for a 4th. To my surprise it really didn't go over too well with some of you guys. It's cool though. In this draft I assume we do the TD thing and stay put. I do believe though we will get a compensation pick for Dahl most likely a 4th.

2nd: Casey Hayward/CB/Vandy: Lets face it Grimes isn't coming back. Our secondary as is, is decent but we could always use new talent. Input Hayward. This kid is a ballhawk. A little bit undersized at 5-11 he still has the instincts to play either zone or man. Since Nolan will be wanting to leave our CB's on a island more this is a very important skill. He also is aggressive in the run game and is a solid tackler. With this move we should be able to move DR to FS and start Franks and Hayward as our CB's.

3rd: Evan Rodriguez/TE/Temple: Gonzo isn't getting any younger. We need to start at least grooming his replacement. Rodriguez should be that guy. A former basketball player Guez( you like) was really under used at Temple. Some experts compare him to a "poor man's" Aaron Hernadez but there both fluid runners with great hands. Plus Guez is a better blocker than Hernadez and with Gonzo's help Guez should turn into a quality starter for us.

4th.(compensation pick): Chandler Jones/DE/Syracuse: After the 2nd round the DE crop talent wise drops significantly. I think if we could grab this guy in the 4th it would be a steal. He has good size at 6-5, 265 lbs and would be perfect for Nolan's hybrid defense since he could play 4-3 DE or a 3-4 OLB. He is solid in the run game and is quick off the line. His stock is on the rise since he is beginning to get his legs back after a injury hampered him this past season. He does rely to heavily on the bull rush so learning some new moves should help him become a solid pass rusher for us.

5th: Robert Turbin/RB/Utah St.: Snelling might not return and MT could be on his way out. I suggest we take a flyer on a RB in this draft. Turbin is my late round choice. He is a elusive runner with some power and soft hands. He averaged over 6.1 yards a carry last year and rushed for 1,517 yards and 19 TD's. Another tid bit his favorite superhero is the hulk so you know he runs with anger.

6th: Ryan Nassib/QB/Syracuse: They have to get a new back up QB either through the draft or FA. This is my favorite of the late round QB's. He is a clutch performer and has improved every year. If he gets some grooming and continues to improve he could develop into a quality starter down the road.

7th: Patrick Edwards/WR/Hou.: A lot of rumors have been swirling about HD going to Jax. I have no idea why he would want to but ok. If these rumors are true we are going to need a new slot. My choice returned to school(Ryan Swope) youtube him he is a beast. Unless Cone steps up or they grab a WR in FA we will need a new one. Edwards is quicker than he is fast. He runs nice routes and has soft hands. Some think he is a product of Houston's system but I think he has some skills to be a good slot WR for this team.

So there it is feel free to comment.

The Falcoholic Mock Draft 1.0 with Off season

This was been a crazy off season so far. Both coordinators are gone and Mr. Blank is pissed. He is tired of being the laughing stock of the "2nd tier teams" and would like to be in the elite class. Well he will have to open up his wallet and good some good talent for the new coordinators to work with.

That starts with the pass rush. Even if we do resign Abe we still are in the same boat as last year. I think Abe will go. I assume some team will splurge and overpay him to sign. Which if i was him I would do the same. So we need to fill a need and drafting a DE (while possible) wouldn't guarantee we get a starting caliber DE when we picked.

Cliff Avril/DE: He is a young and dynamic DE. He had 36 tackles, 11 sacks, and 6 FF's this past season. With the aging Vanden Bosch I don't know if the Lions will be willing to departure with Avril but it's worth a shot.

Carl Nicks/OG: MEGA SIGN!!! If we can steal him away from the Saints that would be huge. It will cost us but for us to be where we want to we have to keep MR upright. This solidifies the guard position for us.

Zachary Bowman/DB: If rumors are true then Grimes is on his way out. We do have some depth at the CB position but we could always use another player. He is a big DB and he has played on a top defense for many years.

Now to the draft

This draft can go in many different directions. The only bad thing is we are short on picks. That is why we make this trade.

MT to the Jets for a 4th rd pick. I think the Jets would be interested in the 3rd leading rusher this season. Especially if Rex is good on his words on keeping Sanchez as QB. Even if they do bring in a rookie QB they will need a run game to take some pressure off of them.

2nd: Ben Jones/OC/UGA: Rejoice Dawg fans we draft a bulldog. McClure will be 35 this coming season and it's time for us to find his replacement. Hawley has tried his best but to me he is a better fit at OG. Ben Jones is a big, bruiser type of center. He finishes the play and has the fire like our "dirtbags" do. Plus if you can block consistently in the SEC you should be able to in the NFL.

3rd: Cyrus Gray/RB/Texas A&M: We find Turner's replacement. Some mocks have him going in the 4th but I think his stock will rise during the combine. This kid is quick, really quick. He has great hands and vision. Plus he is a sound pass blocker. If we have this rotation of Snelling, Gray, and Quizz they are all interchangeable since they all can receive out the backfield.

4th(from Jets): Orson Charles/TE/UGA: Would you lookey here. We add another Dawg to the team. Orson is a big, fast receiving threat with some soft hands. He can run past LB's and safeties and he can work the zone. He definitely needs to improve on his run blocking. All that said he and Gonzo should be delightful for MR in the red zone.

5th. Jonathan Massaquoi/DE/Troy: Yes we do draft yet ANOTHER DE in the late rounds. I think this guy is different though. He is a little bit of a tweener and probably suited better for a 3-4(which we might be running in certain packages). He is a long armed freak with great burst off the line. He struggled against good teams this past season but he can develop into a quality pass rusher for us. With the past success of Troy rushers( Osi and Ware) I think we can take a shot on him.

6th: Ryan Nassib/QB/Syracuse: We need a backup for MR. Nassib is a sleeper and this kid is clutch. The orange beat Wake Forest in a come from behind victory in which he went 20-28 for 178 yards and 3 TDs. Also going 8 for 8 in the 4th and OT. He is athletic and has improved his accuracy every year. He should develop quite nicely behind Ryan.

7th. Tashaun Gipson/CB/Wyoming: We still need depth at the CB position. This is me having faith in Decoud. I think with this pick we go for best available player. Since I don't know who will rise and who will fall. I'm going to go with the sleeper. Gipson had 95 tackles(2.5 for loss), five passes broken up, and 3 ints in 2011. He has good size and nice ball skills.

This is my first of many mocks. Just trying to get as many different scenarios I think the FO could go this April.

The Falcoholic Mike McCoy our next HC?

I know, I know Smitty is still the coach of the Atlanta Falcons and has been a staple in some of the best years of this franchise(which IMO is kind of sad). This week has seen drastic changes. Both coordinators have taken jobs at other places and Mr. Blank is pissed more than I have ever seen him. It's time for change(Barack Obama voice). TD and MS have vowed to take a good hard look at every phase of the organization(football wise) and make the hard decisions.

Sounds good but realistically this team has a deeper problem. Passion. This team has too much talent to get punched in the mouth repeatedly on the big stage. That is where your franchise makes it mark. In prime time and the post season is where you show off your brand to the world. I think this and the failure to win in the postseason pisses Mr. Blank off the most. Even though most would say the coordinators where the problem they still had to answer to 1 man. Smitty.

They were the scapegoats this season. This was a sacrifice for Smitty and TD to keep their heads above water. TD who seems to have the faith of most falcoholics is still at fault as well. His O line prospects have not panned out and his FA acquisitions haven't either. Some might say they where under utilized and that's a fair point. I still think TD drafts not to miss instead of trying to grab a potential stud. The draft is the ultimate gamble. You would like to be high reward and low risk but not taking the chance at all won't get you anywhere. This team has alot of pressure on it so why don't we fire the coach and change the culture while we still have the talent? If it is inevitable anyway why wait?

This is where McCoy comes in to play. A lot of people around think he is the next big thing from a HC view point. Here's a article about him here: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/01/11/jacksonville-should-have-waited-to-talk-to-mccoy/

He has done wonders for Jesus 2.0(aka Tim Tebow) and has basically changed the offense on the drop of a dime to accommodate Tebow's strengths. That my friends is what we call "adjustments". He also was the passing coordinator under John Fox in Car when they had great success winning 2 NFC south divison titles and a NFC championship. He also has overseen 6 3,000 yard passing seasons from players like Jake Delhomme and Kyle Orton.

This isn't a fire Smitty rant(even though it looks the part). Just another vantage point to our current situation.

The Falcoholic Spring Cleaning begins early

Crap! Crap! Crap! this postseason sucked for us. Only scoring 2 points in a playoff game? Really? A shut out would have been better. This team look lost. The D came out playing with emotion but sadly the offense didn't seem to vibe off that same emotion. This offense is too talented to come up so short in BIG games. All year this has been the case including the ass whooping we got at the Super Dome. How do you lay a egg on national T.V. against your hated rival? I fear that Smitty has lost this team and a HC search might be in need. I know Smitty was TD personal choice and it's highly unlikely that they fire him. He has earned some leeway due to his success in the regular season but he has to have this team prepared better.

Now to TD. He is one of the best GM's in the league but his drafting style concerns me. Sometimes it seems he is to fancy in trying to find gems in the late rounds while passing on high risk- high reward prospects in earlier rounds. I would like to see a little more risk on players that are a little less than the "high character" standard we set. He also reaches sometimes( Baker, Dent, and Hawley to name a few) and for some reason refuses to add decent depth across the board. I have always been a person who believes in drafting the best player available regardless of the position. If you can accumulate talent the needs will fill themselves out.

Here is a link of our upcoming free agents:http://www.spotrac.com/free-agents/nfl/atlanta-falcons/.

The main 3 priorities will be Abe, Grimes, and Lofton. Obviously you sign the 2 younger players in Lofton and Grimes and hope Abe settle for less money to stay. Hope.

Now the draft. I will most likely do a wide variety of mocks targeting different players for different scenarios. This team needs seem to be clear but as I stated before if you can get a better player any position can be a need. Talent wise we are above average but that doesn't mean we couldn't use more. The lines seem to be the main priority. O line play has caused MR to hit a speed bump in his progress as a QB. The D line and its failure to get pressure has stunted MS from having the defense he wants.

This team has something wrong with it. From a distance it looks like we are making progress but the uncanny short comings in big games is a giant issue. You play to win the game as Herm Edwards so articulately put it but no postseason win is unacceptable for a team with this much success. Has this team reached its peak? Is this team as good as we think they are? Does this team actually have a short term solution that would give us any hope that this team could go deep in the playoffs and possibly win a SB?

These are just a few questions that need to be addressed this upcoming offseason.

The Falcoholic Mock Draft

I know, I know all you guys have been foaming at the mouth for another one of my great mock drafts. Ok maybe I'm a little ahead of my self but it is almost that time again. I think most of us agree that this team is talented enough. So we have the pieces it's just that we have Larry the cable guy playing them. So here we go.

2nd: Deandre Branch/DE/Clem.: This was a toss up for me. We need new OT's bad but I think we can pick up a viable one in FA. We have needed a pass rush for some time. This guy will bring it. Abe is getting up there and Edwards is just a band aid. Branch has performed great this season for Clemson. He has 73 tackles(16 for loss), 10.5 sacks, and 1 forced fumbles. He had 4 sacks, 11 tackles(6 TFL) against VT alone. He has a good array of moves, is quick off the line, and has great closing speed. Know known injury history so that's also a plus.

3rd: Coby Fleener/TE/Stan.: Finally we get a replacement for Gonzo. This guy is a mismatch nightmare. He is in the same mold as Aaron Hernadez. A baller and plus he is tough enough to go across the middle and has soft hands. His blocking needs to be improved but with Palmer as a backup I'm sure he won't have to on a consistent basis. Even if Gonzo stays another year having Fleener and Gonzo will make Matt's life alot easier.

5th: Trumaine Johnson/DB/Mont.: The 5th round seems to be the sleeper round for TD. This kid is another in that line. A former high school QB, recruited as a WR, and moved to CB/FS in college. So we know he can read the QB and has soft hands. Also is a big hitter. Did have some arrest issues and that might steer TD away from drafting him. Only played 3 games this year but had 2 ints and has 13 picks in his career.

6th: Austin Davis/QB/Sou. Miss.: We need a viable back up for Matt Ryan. Redman is getting up there in years and I don't think we retain him after this year. I am usually weary of players from heavy shotgun spread offenses but this kid could be a steal. He owns most of the records at Southern Miss.( Brett Favre's school) and had his team ranked in the top 25 this year. Could improve on his accuracy a little but he is athletic and could develop very nice behind Ryan.

7th: Brandon Bolden/RB/Ole Miss.: This was another toss up for me. I wanted a WR/KR in the beginning but Bolden would be a steal here. He is a big back and is very athletic. Had a bad bowl game against Miss St. but he has been recovering from a injury. He has 4 TDs on the year after almost accumulating almost 1,000 yards(972 yards) and 14 TDs last season. If Snelling is retained then they will probably target another player here.

The Falcoholic Super Bowl bets?

What's your solution for this team? What is a realistic chance that this team wins a Super Bowl in the next 5 years?

I feel they might need to blow this up. Not in the players but more in the FO. This team always seems to have the same MO since I have been cheering for them. They get in a new staff, start off fast, end slow, and start over. An yet some position coaches and players survive the change even with their subpar performances. I'm going to the top this this problem. Mr. Blank.

He is a great owner but he doesn't himself have a killer instinct. He is too nice. It's fine to care about your players but you can't put them in front of your team. His want for a super bowl sometimes steers him to make quick, uneducated decisions. It even puts a strain on his FO to make big splashes to satisfy his desires. He reminds me of the hopeless always in love guy. He meets a girl she is amazing for the 1st couple of months. Then she runs your life, sucks you dry, and leaves for that 1 guy. He always thinks he is close to a super bowl but he never gets the big picture. Most elite franchises in the league find a great coach and stem from his coaching staff.

Grabbing coaches here and there doesn't work. It doesn't matter if your willing to spend the money(ask Dan Synder). You have to put the time and effort to find the right situation for you. He needs better advisers. People to inform him on making better decisions for the franchise.

We have not won a Super Bowl in our franchise history and I don't see things changing any time soon.

The Falcoholic Is Mike Smith the problem? Pt. 2

So here is my solution. First you need to find out if Ryan is a championship caliber QB. Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson have 1 so my guess is yes. The only problem with that is they both had great defenses to back them up. I think Ryan needs that. Which would mean you would need to bring in a dominant DC to run the D. Mike Smith and BVG are not those guys. If we could get Spags or a Fewell to run the D. Smith could probably keep his job.

The other belief is that Ryan can win a ring with a dominant offense. I do not believe this. If this is the case you would have to bring in a dominant OC to run this offense. MM is not that guy. We could try to get a Clements or Sumlin to run the offense.

Maybe Matt Ryan isn't a championship caliber QB at all. Maybe we should be looking for his replacement. I think( and I know this sounds crazy) we should trade our 2nd rd pick to KC for Ricky Stanzi. I think Stanzi is in the same mold of a Tom Brady. I think if he sits behind Ryan a couple years he can become one of the top QB's in the league.  I also believe if Smith doesn't want to part ways with MM and BVG we should be looking for his replacement as well.

Maybe a Mangini or even dare I say it a Rob Ryan. Say what you want about the guy but he would have the Falcons talked about nationally on a daily basis and he is a defensive guru. We also could go offense with a Bill O'Brien or even a Chuds from Carolina for the HC job. Either way this might be needed because even though this team is talented. It might need a change at the two most important positions to get over the top.

The Falcoholic Is Mike Smith the problem? Pt. 1

I know I'm some what of a "new" falcon fan(since '98) but I am passionate about the team. I am not on the other hand a Atlanta sports fan. So I don't know the pain some of you guys suffer. I root for teams like Chicago Bulls, Blackhawks, Stl Cardinals and so on. Not a homer fan by any means but 1 thing has been urking me. Whats wrong with the Falcons?

The Falcons seemed to be cubsed or brownsed in that they are cursed. The only difference is at least those teams have rings(maybe made out of copper) but they have rings. The Falcons seem to always make the wrong choices when it comes to personnel or coaching or even hot dog prices. It just seems to be fate that they mess up some where in a season.

Now to this regime. The "Greatest Regime in Atlanta Falcons History" as some of you see it. Even though they have no playoff wins. Alot of Falcon fans nowadays think we are on the cusp of winning our 1st Super Bowl championship. I am not one of those people. This team is far from garbage but they also aren't elite by any means. The OC is vanilla and plain. The DC is also plain and easily outsmarted most of the time. The HC all be it calm and cool under pressure is well not dynamic enough to win a championship(with this staff). The franchise QB is smart, determined, and has alot of moxie. Then again he also is clumsy, inaccurate, and IMO sometimes dumbfounded.

Then there is the GM(who I think is good) but drafts too "safe" for my taste. He has a 1st round bust in Baker and maybe one in Jerry as well. Or could it be bigger than all of that. Maybe its Mr. Blank. Who sometimes goes with his heart over his head and becomes too loyal to a player(Vick) or a coach. I fear Smith has reached his peak last season with "THIS" team and "STAFF" and since he has built some faith Blank won't fire him even if the Falcons don't get to a Super Bowl or NFC championship game in the next 2 years.

Continue to part 2 fro my solution.

The Falcoholic Never too early for a Mock

This by NO MEANS means I am giving up on this season. I repeat I am not giving up on this season. I just like drafting. Might make it a career but anyway here we go.

As of right now we would be middle of the draft most likely at 14 or 15.

2nd: Matt Reynolds/OT/Pitt.: I have been thinking this 1 over a bit. As much as I want to grab a DE were stock piled at that position. The fact being I don't trust Baker to protect Matt's blind side for years to come. Reynolds will be that man. He is big, strong, and has quick feet. He also has a mean streak which I know Smitty likes. He is coached by the same guy who groomed Logan Mankins and he has compared him to Logan often.

3rd. Eddie Whitley/FS/VT: Ahh remember the good ole days? When we drafted Hokies with almost all our picks. Well here we go again. I think its time for a change at FS. Decoud gets beat often, takes bad angle, and often misses tackles. Whitley is a ballhawk and has good instincts.

5th: Ladarius Green/TE/Louis-Lafayette: Another steal in the 5th. Here is Gonzo's successor. 6'6, 230lbs and has great hands. He runs like a WR and is a mismatch for any defense. Reminds me of Jermicheal Finley.

6th. John Brantley/QB/Fla.: Redman is getting up in years and we need to start to groom a reliable back up. Brantley has nice size, arm strength, and accuracy. He also has improved under Charlie Weiss's pro style offense. Brantley was injured earlier this year and might be tempted to stay another year.

7th. Brandon Bolden/RB/Ole Miss.: Jason Snelling was only signed to a 1 year deal and I don't think he will be retained after this 1. Here is his replacement. He reminds me of Snelling and Starks a little. He is a big back with soft hands and is athletic enough to hurdle opponents. He should be a nice addition to our rotation.

So this is my early mock. I know the big problem is the coaching staff but a quick look at upcoming players never hurt.

The Falcoholic My Falcons overview

I have been a falcon fan since the dirty birds in 98. Thats why it still pains me that that was the last time we were in a superbowl. Mediocrity is the name of our game. Now to this regime. I love Smitty as a head coach but his coordinators are going to get him fired. I don't see us winning a ring with them at the helm.

Its crazy to think our offense is this talented and yet so bland. Some of the blame falls on Matty. He tries to do too much at times. That's when his boneheadedness comes in. Its also part of the O line. What makes Brees, Brady, and Peyton so effective is the time they have in the pocket. For us to be a top tier team our O line needs to do that against top notch D lines. An IMO most of the blame goes on MM. Again how do you have a offense so talented and yet be so conservative. Can you imagine how this offense could be with some creativity. I mean how are we supposed to thrive when mid game the defense knows what's coming. Its frustrating to watch at times. The next 2 years might be make it or break it for Matty Ice. I just hope MM isn't there to "help".

Now the D. Smitty is a former DC. So why are our fundamentals so terrible? I don't know. BVG as I have said time and time again needs to be fired or demoted or what ever. His schemes are college level. Mike Martz picked apart our D with screens and deep digs yesterday. TD needs to find a position coach out there or even a college coach. Some one hungry to implement this D with some life. I don't think our D is that bad(possibly a top ten D) but they have to correct mistakes and stop drinking their own kool aid. I get a since of arrogance out of them and there not even that good.

Now the FO. I love TD as GM but his drafting style isn't my favorite. I am a aspiring scout/GM if you want to say that and i feel any position can be a need if you can get a better player. That being said if you have a elite QB there is no need to draft another in the 1st round(unless you plan on trading him). I get the whole draft smart players with good track records but I would like to see him take some high risk/high reward players. If not the 1st couple rounds at least the 4th round and on for players who have fell in the draft. We miss out on outstanding talent for conservative(again) decent players. No playmakers just role players. Also could do better in FA. Atlanta a nice market and I am sure we could grab a couple key free agents. Winning a ring is important but establishing a winning franchise is as or even more important.

These are just my opinions. If you beg to differ(which I know you do) feel free to post a comment.

The Falcoholic Rogers? Maybe?

Ok the season is officially under way and theres been 1 team that has made alot of noise. The Kardashians. Naw Im joking but the so called Dream Team have been spending like crazy in free agency. So much so I forgot that they actually also drafted players. Their the NFL's Miami Heat and have a target on their back for the season. An with that comes the pressure but that's not what Im here about.

They some what have a dilemma. They traded their back up QB for a pro bowl CB and they also won the sweeptakes for Nnamdi. The only problem is they also have this guy named Asante who is also pretty good. Talk about problems right. Of course no player wants another player to come on to your team that can possibly take their spot(let alone 2 really good one's).

Some experts expect Philly to possibly be trying to move at least one of them. If i was Philly I would just move Nanmdi to his natural position at FS but I'm no where near a NFL expert or anything. So how does this effect us? Will we paid a pretty hefty price for JJ and our 2012 draft is scarce in picks. Soooo maybe a 2nd rounder and maybe a LB like Mo Pete or Nicholas could pry Rogers from their hands.

Coupling him with Robinson would give us the secondary tandem we been so eager to get. Our draft next year is already messed up and even though I think Franks could eventually become a very solid starting CB. You can never be too sure.  So I say hay TD get us Rogers and even though we just re signed Grimes I would still prefer Rogers over him.

So what do you guys think pull the trigger or stay put? You tell me.

The Falcoholic Impact Rookie?

Besides Waffle house and the Quizz. Which rookie do you guys think will have the most impact?

I would have to go with Bosher. Yes the kicker from the U(my favorite college football squad) but thats not here or there. I think he will have the most impact because I don't think Bryant is going to last with us the whole season. Which is perfect for Bosher who has a monster leg and could get some tips from Bryant.

If there is a upcoming season games are going to be sloppy. With players missing OTAs and pratices alot of games are going to be close. With that being said I think a solid kicker is going to be even more vitale this season than in the past. Lets hope we have that on our roster with Bosher.

The Falcoholic UFAs

Holy freaking crap this was a weird draft. From the blockbuster trades to the reaches(oh the reaches).
An some how a load, load of quality players went undrafted. It is kinda mind blowing that some of these guys didnt get drafted. Lucky for us its fair game now. We can take who ever we want. Our UFA class might be better than our draft itself(minus WH and the quizz).

QB: Pat Devlin/Del.: Was regarded as a 3rd round prospect early in the draft season. Slip due to some character concerns but has the best potential of any QBs that went undrafted.

QB: Adam Froman/Lou.: Nice size with decent accuracy. Basically a younger Redman.

QB: Justin Roper/Mon.: Big QB with nice accuracy. Really havent seen much tape on him but is said to be poise.

Most likely signed: Roper. Devlin by far is the best but character issues might shy FO away. Plus we know how TD likes to draft players from the same college(biermann and schilling).

RB: Derrick Locke/UK: Was rated as high as a 3rd rd pick but some how fell. Don't know if we go after him since he is basically the same type back as Quizz.

RB: Noel Devine/WV: Very quick back who was rated in the 5th rd area. Again the same type of player as Quizz.

RB: Graig Cooper/Mia(FL.): Really not suprised he wasn't drafted due to health issues. To me is one of the sleepers in this draft. Could become a starter if he can stay healthy.

Most Likely signed: Locke.Even though he is the same type as Quizz.. To me is to valuable to pass up.

WR: Ricardo Lockette/F ValleySt.: A fast receiver with catching issues. Given we need a deep threat he is in play.

WR: Darvin Adams/Aub. A mid rd prospect. This guy is my favorite UFA WR. Is clutch and can work the sidelines. Would love to sign him.

WR: Vidal Hazelton/Cin.: The one player Im rooting for. Has some durability issues but is a big WR with a chip on his shoulder.

WR: Tori Gurley/SC: Late rd prospect with great hands. Didnt have a drop all last year. Might be in play as TE as well.

Most Likely signed: Lockette and Hazelton. As much as I want Adams Im sure we wont target him. FO has already met with Lockette and im sure TD has a heart so Vidal should be in red and black this summer as well.

TE: Schuylar Oordt/NIowa: Late rd prospect who slipped. Has nice size and some potential. Also played in a run heavy system.

TE: Mike McNeil/Neb: A late rd prospect. Good blocker with soft hands. Able to find the soft spots. Reminds me of dallas clark.

TE: Collin Franklin/IowaSt.: A big TE who was the go to guy for the cyclones. Very underrated and would love to have him.

Most Likely Signed: Stephen Skelton. Didnt list him but we have had contact with him. Same build as Palmer.

OL: Willie Smith/ECU: A 5th rd prospect with goo upside. Converted TE who is still raw but has potential to be a starter. Can play G or T.

OL: Zachary Hurd/UConn.: A big G who is great at run blocking. Still a developmental prospect but could become a starter in the near future.

OL: Garret Chilosm/SC: Big strong G. Has some technique issues and is considered a back up as best.

Most Likely signed: Smith. Too talented to pass up. Could replace Clabo in the near future and should take Reynolds spot from day 1.

DL: Cedric Thornton/CenArk.: A D2 prospect who dominated his league. Good pass rush and against the run. Has starter potential. Can also play at DE.

DL: Pierre Allen/Neb. A DE with long arms and a quick 1st step. Benefited from playing with Suh and Crick. With our DE crop full dont think he will get much consideration.

DL: Martin Parker/Rich.: A star in the FCS. Has nimble feet and uses his hands well. Could team up with fromer team mate Sidbury.

Most Likely Signed: Parker. Provides good depth and TD loves to draft former team mates.

LB: Mark Herzlich/BC: Highly touted as best LB in this class before being diagnosed with cancer. Still hasnt returned to from but when he does he will be a monster. Will be highly sought after. Reminds me of Brain Urlacher.

LB: Scott Lutrus/Uconn.: Has starter potential. Displays good awareness and flashes the ability to make sideline to sideline plays. Could become a strong side LB.

Most likely signed: Lutrus. Really dont need another LB but depth is depth. Herzlich will probably be the most sought after UFA so getting him will be difficult.

CB: Kendric Burney/UNC: A 2nd rd prospect. Dont know how he slipped. A undersized CB with good instincts. Will be a nickel corner at best.

CB: Mario Butler/GT: Has nice size but lacks instincts and is probably a 4th spot corner on most teams.

S: Duenta Williams/UNC.: A 2nd rd prospect. A big S who has starter potential. Has good speed and great hands. A sure tackler with nice awareness.

Most Likely signed: Williams and Burney. Both would be steals and im pretty sure we wont get both. Not as sold on Decoud as most and would love to have williams and Moore in the secondary.

So here's my opinion on this yrs UFA class. Tell me what you guys think.

The Falcoholic Day 2 and 3 mock

First off Id like to apologize to Mr. Dimitroff. I over reacted to the JJ trade and I apologize. The more I think about it Im starting to like it. So this is what we have a 3rd,5th,6th, and 3 7ths. So here we go.

Trade: Trade our 3rd for a 4th and a extra 5th.

4: Demarco Murray/RB/Okl: Teams seem to be more worry of injury prone players in this draft(ala Bowers). Highly touted coming out of high school. A athletic freak with soft hands. Was thought to be as good or even better as AP. I know he has injury issues but if he had stayed healthy he would have been a top 25 pick. Id take a chance on him in the 4th. Plus we know how TD likes to draft players from the same school.

5a: Ricky Elmore/OLB/DE/Arz.: I know alot of you guys want Romeus here but Ill pass. I usually dont like my DEs undersized but this guy potential is pretty good. To me on tape he is a better prospect than brooks reed( who will probably go in the 2nd). He has a quick 1st step and a non stop motor. He is also scheme diverse so when we do get a new DC(and we will). We will have players to fit any kind of scheme.

5b: Willie Smith/OT/ECU: Very athletic OT with long arms. Versatile as well can also play G. Former TE who is still learning the position. Has good upside and should compete with Reynolds for the 2nd or starting spot.

6. Darvin Adams/WR/Aub.: Nice size with speed. Has very soft hands. Is clutch. Makes big receptions on 3rd down and has nice footwork on the sidelines. Has very long arms and should compete for the slot position from day 1. Adams, Jones, and White is a crazy corp.

7a. Alex Wujiack/ILB/Mar.:  Very productive LB in college(381 tackles in 3 years). Has good instincts and play with a fierce intensity. Plays very disciplined and with a high motor. Has decent coverage skills and should be the #2 ILB from the get go.

7b. Collin Franklin/TE/Iowa St.: Sleeper. Nice size (6-6, 256lb). Was to the go to guy at Iowa St. Ranked 2nd nationally among TEs with 4.5 receptions a game. Very strong, soft hands, and can find the soft spots in coverage. Should benefit from having TG as a tutor. Palmer and Franklin should be a nice tandem at TE.

7c. Korey Lindsey/CB/SIU: Guy from a school around my hometown. Has nice size(5-10, 194lbs).  Had 14 ints in his 4 yr career. A ball hawk with great instincts. Could be a stud after a couple years of seasoning.

The Falcoholic Our WR corp

Our WR corp is probably one of the worst in the NFL. We really only got Roddy and thats it. An even he drops passes now and then. Jenks is ok( for a 4th option or red zone). HD im getting sour on. Has some speed but cant catch either. Meier we havent seen yet and Finn is old old. Weems is only really a option as a KR/PR.

You guys see the pattern? The problem is not only speed but hands. None of our wideouts have great hands. Id rather get a WR in this draft that can catch rather than speed. So no Lockette, Gates, or any other speed demon with no hands. Give me a Dwayne Harris, Vincent Brown, or even a Greg Little. Yes a Greg Little. Just give me someone who can catch. Thats our true problem. Speed really doesn't matter if they can't hold on to the ball.

The Falcoholic Mock Draft

I didnt put a .0 on this because frankly I forgot where I left off at. I have been hearing alot of experts mock many different players for us. From Justin Houston to Mark Ingram. I originally wanted to trade up for Bowers but the price is pretty hefty. In saying that though I dont really like whats for us at 27. I would love to trade down. So i did. I think a great partner are the Bengals. They have a need for QB and might fear that Buffalo or another team might trade up to get a Ponder or a Dalton in the late 1st round.  The points are pretty close too.

We trade our 1st and 3rd(816) to Cin for their 2nd and 3rd(810).

2a. Randall Cobb/WR/UK: Very versatile player who has great intangibles. Very soft hands and should provide the diversity we need on offense. TD has been observing Jerrigan lately but I think Cobb has more upside and will be a better pro. Bigger WR who played tougher competition in college. Plus he can play more positions.

2b. Rodney Hudson/OG/Fla St.: A undersized OG who can play C. Sounds unconvincing huh. Hudson was a monster at the Senior Bowl. Playing on both the left and right side opening huge holes against some of th top DTs in this draft. Is very athletic and great for a zone blocking scheme. Good football IQ and awareness.

3. Curtis Brown/CB/UT: I am a firm believer in there is no such thing as too many CBs in this NFL. If he slips we could grab him at the top of the 3rd. He is a very talented corner who can come up and make the hit. I really do think that Franks will be our future starter at CB and with Brown at the other side we can tangle Dunta if he doesnt step it up.

4.  Jah Reid/OT/UCF: We double dip at OL again. Im not sure if TD will keep Clabo since he will be pretty expensive. Reid should help with that loss. Very productive player in college and has great upside. Athletic and should step right in at RT.

5. Bilal Powell/RB/Lou.: All Big East 1st teamer. Rushed for 14 TDs last year. A very agile RB with great patience and vision. Reminds me of Jamaal Charles on tape. Has had some injury issues which concerns me. I think he will bounce back though and should compliment Turner very well. Also can catch out the backfield.

6. Ricky Elmore/DE/Arz. Was 1st in the Pac 10 last yr with 11 sacks. Was as productive as Reed and look more tenancious on tape. Stronger than he looks and could compete for a starting spot.

7a. Colin Franklin/TE/Iowa ST.: Quietly was 3rd in the nation in receptions with 54 at TE. Benched 225 28 times at his pro day. Deceptive speed and agility. Was the go to guy at Iowa St. Should split time with Palmer behind Gonzo.

7b.  Jabara Williams/OLB/Stephen F Austin.: Voted All Southland Conference defensive player of the yr last year. Great speed for his size. Had 402 total tackles(25 for loss) and 9 sacks for his career. Should contribute on ST right away.

7c. Vidal Hazelton/WR/Cin.: Big wideout with soft hands. Always wanted to be a Falcon and i think TD will make that happen. Very doubt a guy with a chip on his shoulder and this guy does. Very clean route runner and should secure a spot on the roster.

 UFAs

Andre Harris/RB/N. Col: Big Rb with nice speed. Ran for 700 yards and 10 TDs.

Pat Devlin/QB/Delaware: Doubt he doesnt get drafted but if he does would be a nice pickup. Big QB with good accuracy but does have character concerns.

Dequin Evans/DE/UK: Juco transfer who had 6 sacks in his 1st yr at UK.

Greg Ellinson/WR/Fla Int: Ran a 4.45 at 200 lbs. Has soft hands and a good route runner.

Davonte Shannon/SS/Buf. Hard hitting safety and a tackling machine. Will be a great ST and backup to Moore.

Josh Jasper/K/LSU: Good kicker and we need somebody.

Josh Gatlin/CB/N. Dakota St.: Had a impressive pro day and has nice size(6-1).

The Falcoholic Da'Quan Bowers

Bowers(who was highly received as the 1st overall pick) has been sliding lately. After character issues and knee concerns some experts have him dropping out of the top 10. Seems serile really but some even have him dropping out of the top 20. I think if he is available we should at least take a flyer. We have needed a DE opposite JA55 for the longest. JA55 is a beast but his time is running out.

Bowers is a monster.period. A great pass rusher and a run stuffer. Very athletic DE who has been compared to Mario Williams. He has failed some teams medical tests but I dont know if he failed ours. If he did slip what team would be a good trade partner? The Rams. The Rams have been mocked grabbing a OLB or a WR like Julio Jones. If Jones is gone I think that Rams would be willing to trade down. I dont know what we would give up but I do think we could get that pick. The Rams would benefit as well. Since no other WRs are projected to go that high they might want to trade back. They could get a Torrey Smith, Houston, Reed, or another player at 27 and plus grab some extra picks.

We would benefit from grabbing a stud DE who can come in and provide us what we need. A dominant pass rush. It has been a flaw on our D for some time and this guy could help with that. I dont know the situation with his knee but if it checks out Im fine with it. This would be a steal at 14 and would inch us that much closer to #1.

The Falcoholic My 3-4 Mock Draft

I know we dont have most of the parts for this kind of engine. This is for pure fantasy.

I would like to trade out of the first rd. Get a 2nd and a 3rd from Buf or Arz.

2a: Brooks Reed/OLB/DE/Arz.: Would be my pick on either scheme. Great work ethic and has a non stop motor. Good speed with sneaky power. Reminds me of Clay Matthews in his approach and type of game.

2b: Ryan Williams/RB/VT: I know this guy has durability issues but that hasnt been an issue for TD in the past. Very solid prospect with good speed and great agility. Also runs tough and can block. Needs to imporve on his catching out the backfield. Turner cant run for 300+ att. a year for much longer.

3a: Curtis Marsh/CB/Utah St.: Very big corner (6-1,194lbs) with great upside. Has fluid hips with great recover speed. Can also come up and make the hit. Great work ethic and could compete with Grimes for starting spot.

3b: Marcus Gilbert/OT/Fla. Has been a standard now in some of my latest mocks. Very athletic OL with great upside. Has good balance and body control. Great positional blocker and can work in space and the second level.

4. Sione Fua/NT/Stan.: Here would be our NT. I know we could probably get a NT earlier but I think we would run more of a Wade 3-4. Which he fits better weighing in at only 310 lbs. Good hands and power at point of attack. Can be disruptive and can open gaps for our LBs.

5.Julius Thomas/TE/Port. ST.: Former basketball player with nice size. Shows good hands and speed. Has to improve route running but Im sure Gonzo can help him with that. Looked very fluid at the combine being he has played football for a short period of time. Could be another Antonio Gates.

6. Stephen Burton/WR/West Tex A&M.: One of my favorite sleepers. Good hands with great speed. Very tough WR who can catch the ball over the middle. Should compete with HD for slot WR.

7. Davonte Shannon/SS/Buf. Another standard in my mocks. A tackling machine. As a freshman at Buffalo broke their single season record with 123 tackles. Has good instincts and can play in the box. Could improve in coverage. Earned All MAC first team honors last year.

7. Vidal Hazelton/WR/Cin.: A good WR with a chip on his shoulder and he wants to play for us. Im sold. Good speed and a great route runner. Big reciever who has been compared to TO. Has some durability issues but at this stage in the draft most prospects do. I really like his game and think he might become a pro bowler.

7. Alex Wujaciak/ILB/Mar.: Was tempted to go with another NT here but Im sure we could grab a UFA or FA NT. Another tackling machine notching 131 tackles(8.5 TFL) and All ACC first team honors last yr. Speed could be a issue but at this point he is a back up.

The Falcoholic 3-4 Defense?

I know this subject has been brought numerous times before. As I look more at it I am really starting to change my stance on it. Out of the top 5 total defenses last year only 1 team ran a 4-3(NO) and there blitz happy. We all know that defenses win championships and keep you relevant in this league. We also all know that our defense has been our weak link for years now.

I have been avid for the firing of BVG. To me his schemes just seem vanilla and predictable. If we did switch to a 3-4 he would probably be the odd man out. I would like to see us get a disciple of Rex Ryan or of Dick Lebeauto run our D. The only problem might be if Smitty would allow some one new to take control of the defense. I think Smitty doesn't care as long as it improve.

Now the most important piece of this puzzle. Personnel. We have the players to run a 3-4 defense. On the line Babs and Peters can play NT. I feel Jerry is athletic enough to play outside at DE. Abe is also athletic enough to play DE or stand and play OLB. Bierman and Sid could cut 10-15 lbs and be very effective at OLB. Lofton is our MLB but Spoon can play inside as well. He played MLB at Mizzou. Our secondary(which might be weak in coverage) can hit. It would also benefit from more QB pressure. We still would be missing pieces but we could address those in the draft. Grabbing  a Houston, Claybourn, or trading down and taking Reed would make more sense.

I always here how we want to get faster. How do we do it. Subtract a DL and add a LB. More and more teams are switching to 3-4 defenses. I think with the speed we have and being on turf it would really excel our defense if we switched to a 3-4.

The Falcoholic Mock Draft 3.0 PC

Another day another draft from me. I have been thinking about my drafts and this is my favorite one by far. So here we go.

1. Justin Houston/DE/UGA: I was a big fan of trading back but if he is here I would happily take him. Great kid with underrated leadership. Reminds me of Demarcus Ware. Relentless and has a quick first step. Also can play in coverage which should help since BVG insist on dropping DE's in coverage. Also provides some versatility.

2. Bruce Carter/OLB/UNC: Really wanted to take Curtis Brown here but the OLB crop isnt as deep as the CB crop. Carter is a hard hitting LB with great speed and instincts. Completes our LB group and makes it instantly one of the best in the NFC. Also i good in coverage.

3. Marcus Gilbert/OT/Fla.: A very athletic OL with great technique. Has alot of upside but is a RT only. If we move Sam Baker to RT Barksdale could also be the pick right here.

4. Buster Skrine/CB/UT-Chatt.: Sleeper. Usually not a fan of drafting smaller CBs(which is TD's MO) but this guy is the exception. Very quick CB with tremendous ball skills. Had the fastest 40 at the combine. He also can contribute on special team and is a sure tackler. Could compete with Franks for the nickel spot right away.

5. Cedric Thornton/DT/Sou. Ark.: One of my favorite players in the draft. A athletic DT who can rush the passer. Was a 1st team  All American and All GSC in 2010. Led the nation in TFL in 2009.

6.Tori Gurley/WR/USC: Hold your horses no I do not have us drafting 3 WRs this yr. He will convert to TE.Good route runner and has great hands. Didnt drop 1 pass last yr which is saying something since he played in the SEC. Shoud benefit alot from learning from Gonzo.

7.Stephen Burton/WR/West Tex A&M: Sleeper. Has great size(6-1,224) and will be our slot WR. I know a 224lb slot WR? He ran a 4.38 40 at his pro day and had a 10 yard split of 1.46 sec. Great hands and is willing to catch over the middle.

7. Vidal Hazelton/WR/Cin.: I like to thank you guys for putting me on to him. Great hands and good speed. Very tough WR with crisp route running. A steal at this point in the draft. Has been compared to T.O. but without all the bs.

7. Graig Cooper/RB/Mia.(Fla.): Look another steal. Has had injuries in the past(which worries me becuase of Norwood) but he is dynamic to say the least. Very quick RB with amazing agility and vision. Also is great a PR/KR.

UFAs.

Davonte Shannon/SS/Buf. Could switch him with Cooper for the last pick but really doesnt matter. Hard hitting SS who can contribute right away on ST.

Dequin Evans/DE/UK: A JUCO transfer had 6 sacks in his 1st yr at UK. Was a monster in JUCO and could wind up starting opposite Houston.

TJ Yates/QB/UNC: Underrated passer with some decent pocket presence. Has the same grit we see in Matt. Should come as #2 on the depth right away.

Ryan Houston/FB/UNC: Ovie not getting any younger and here is his replacement. Ran for over 700 yards and 9 TDs in 2009.

Josh Jasper/K/LSU: Really we just need a young K. Very consistent K with a good leg.

I know I was offense happy in this draft but I think our D is in better shape than most people give it credit for. With this draft we could become the new greatest show on turf.

Chris Harris/CB/Kan.: Can never have too many CBs(Rex Ryan voice). Sure tackler and has good size and speed.

The Falcoholic Mock draft 2.0 PC

Im back with another draft so here it is.

Free Agency: I think Car will franchise( if possible) Johnson but we still could get Edwards(which i rather not). I think we will get a CB like Marshall from Car in FA.

Draft:

Trade Micheal Jenkins for a 4th rd pick. I know he had a great season with some clutch plays but Im still not sold. We could pick up a Malcolm Floyd or another player to replace him.

1. Justin Houston/DE/UGA: I really wasnt sold on this guy at first but now Im a believer. He reminds me of Dummerveil from Den or Ware from Dal. Both which are double digit sack guys. Im one of fans that believes our D is too vanilla. This guy could bring some diversity to our defense and bring a consistent pass rush we been searching for.

2. Jerrell Jernigan/WR/Troy: Great route runner with nice hands. Has the ability to score any time the balls in his hands. Can be the YAC player we been looking for and is as tough as nails. Great instincts and a team captain which TD covets.

3. Marcus Gilbert/OT/Fla. Versatile OL who has played RT and G for Fla. Very agile OL with great technique and alot of upside. He can come in and start for any of the OL we have up for FA.

4a.Demarcus Van Dyke/CB/Mia(Fla.): One of my favorite CBs in this draft. Is a tall kid(6-1) and a little of the skinny side(178) but has speed for days. Plays with alot of swag and has great hips, vision, and instincts. Will grow into his frame in time and should help complete our CB corp.

4b. Julius Thomas/TE/Port. St.: Since we missed out on Jimmy Graham last yr(im still pissed hes with the saints) might as well get a clone. Former basketball player(same genre as Gonzo) with great hands and looked very fluid at the combine. He does need to work on some things like his blocking in particular but with Gonzo helping him he could be a Antonio Gates type of steal.

5. Cedric Thornton/DT/Ark. St.: Sleeper. Versatile DL who can play DE or DT. Dominated his league in college and could become a very good player in the NFL.

6. Lester Jean/WR/Fla. Int.: Sleeper. Jenks replacement. Big guy (6-3) with good speed. Ran a 4.51 at his pro day. Has great hands and can adjust to the ball in route. To me one of the top 5 deep threats in this draft. Youtube him to see if you dont believe me. Needs to improve his route running but he has all the skills to be a monster at the next level.

7a. Tawian Jones/RB/EWU: My steal of the draft. Speed demon who has the ability to score any time he touches the ball. His nickname isnt Juice for no reason. Dominated his league and has great balance and vision. Downside is I dont know if he can run between the tackles yet but he can develop into a quality #2 back for us.

7b. Davonte Shannon/SS/Buf.: Had him in my previous drafts but I really like this kid. He is a tackling machine. Hard hitting safety who can contribute right away on ST.

7c. Matt Bosher/K/Mia(Fla.): Im tired of renting kickers. Lets get a young kid for the future and here he is. A big leg K who also punted in college.

So tell me what you think.

The Falcoholic Mock Draft 1.0 PC

This is my first mock post combine. I have had the opportunity to watch some film on guys even though i havent had the same chance to fully watch the combine. I do think we will get charles johnson in free agency so keep that in mind. I also think we will trade back for a 2nd and a 3rd.

2a: Kyle Rudolph/TE/ND: Even though he didnt participate at the combine(due to injury) he still is to be thought as the #1 TE in this draft. In my earlier mocks I wanted to find a TE later in the draft but if your going to get a TE to replace Gonzo might as well get the best. Rudolph is by far the most complete TE in this draft. Plus the tutoring from Gonzo should progress him to be a elite TE sooner than later.

2b: Curtis Brown/CB/Tex: Didnt get to watch the DBs yet but heard he looked very good at the pos. skill drills. He has the size(6-0,185), great instincts, and can come up and make the hit. He should compete for the starting spot from this 1st day in camp.

3a: Edmund Gates/WR/Abilene Chris.: TD mentioned he wanted to get dynamic players on both sides of the ball. This guy covers that. He ran a 4.35 and had a 10'11 broad jump. He also showed great hands and concentration. This guy on turf is scary. He should be the speed demon slot WR we need.

3b: Jordan Todman/RB/Uconn.: I had us getting him in my other mock and he still is my pick here. Great vision and has the burst to get to the second level in the NFL. He also displays great hands and should be great in the screen game.

4: Ugo Chinasa/DE/OKST.: Sleeper. Only weighs 264 but has great quickness and power at the attack. I know I have us getting Charles Johnson in FA but Abe isnt going to play forever and this guy could be his replacement.

5: Darius Morris/OT/Temple: Another guy who become a gem. Very versatile OL who can play G or T. Has a very good skill set and is very competitive.

6: Tori Gurley/WR/S.Car.: This guy caught my eye at the combine. He looked fluid and caught everything. Has the size at 6-4,216 and ran a sub  4.6 40.  He could eventually be Jenks replacement.

7a: Adrian Moten/OLB/Mar.: Sleeper. This guy is a playmaker. Can play in coverage and can get off the block to rush the passer. Famous for his superman tackle against Navy(youtube it) he is a great value this late.

7b: Davonte Shannon/SS/Buf.: Buffalo has players(as seen by how James Starks played last postseason). This guy is no different. A tackling machine who can also play in the box. Also can contribute on ST.

7c: Joshua Portis/QB/Cali-PA.: Cousin of freshly released Clinton Portis. He has a big arm and is probably the fastest QB in this draft. Could be a great backup with some potential.

The Falcoholic Mock Draft 3.0

Here is the 3rd of my(I dont even know) mock drafts. I based this draft off of us getting Ray Edwards in FA, resigning 2 of the 3 OL, and resigning Nichols and Snelling. I know alot of you are going to hate this one but i just wanted to throw a curveball.

1. Jimmy Smith/CB/Colo.: Whoa hear me out. If we do keep this pick why dont we solidify our secondary for years to come. Hes a big corner with great speed. Plus has outstanding instincts. Since were probably not getting Nnamdi lets get his clone instead.( Same measurebles coming into the draft).

2. Derrek Sherrod/OT/Miss St.: Long armed, giant (6'6,312lbs) OL with great strength and footwork. Crazy measurements and has more upside then some 1st round OL.

3. Jordan Todman/RB/Uconn: New player to my RB circle. Its been a tossup between Vereen and Locke but he is just a good. Quick RB with great field vision and can catch out of the backfield. To me has the best chance of the 3 to become an every down back.

4.Jonathan Baldwin/WR/Pitt.: If he drops he is too talented to pass up. Big, tall, physical receiver. Catches the ball at its highest point. Red zone terror. Has character issues but its more of a on the field than off.

5. Cecil Shorts III/WR/Mount Union: Yeap back to back WRs. Great hands and speed. Can run any route. Reminds me of Wes Welker.

6. Cedric Thornton/DT/south Ark.: Sleeper. Small school DT who dominated his league. Also can play at DE.

7. Micheal Morgan/OLB/USC: Sleeper. Watch this guy on film flies to the ball. Hard hitter with great instincts. If drafted this late will play with a chip on his shoulder for awhile.

7. Charlie Grant/TE/Mich. St.: Great blocker with soft hands.

Some more UFAs

Mark Legree/FS/App St. Ball Hawk. Led the nation in ints in 2008.

Carl Johnson/G/Fla.: Depth. Highly recruited out of high school. Great upside.

Ryan Houston/FB/UNC: Depth. Had 713 yards rushing and 9 TDs his junior  year at UNC.

Feel Free to destroy this mock.
