Wearing Black on Saturday
Out of respect for the Munson family, I'll be wearing Black on Saturday. Honestly, it wouldn't hurt my feelings for the team to wear the black jerseys. Tech typically wears white at home anyway. It's not fake juice. It's a just a gesture.PWD

On Veteran's Day
We set aside today to honor those who have sacrificed to provide our freedom. Wherever liberty is threatened, wherever tyranny rules, wherever disaster strikes, they are the ones the whole world counts on for assistance. They are willing to sacrifice their very lives as so many have already. Since the American Revolution began in 1775, over 1 million service members have lost their lives during military operations and wars. Another 1.5 million have been wounded while serving and over 38,000 are missing.

The Penn State Scandal
There are some topics we generally don't discuss here at Dawg Sports. Our focus has always been first and foremost on University of Georgia Athletics and there are some topics that as civilized people we just don't discuss in public or polite company. Unfortunately, events have taken place this week at Pennsylvania State University and subsequently received much media attention and so they bear addressing.

The 2011 Goat Roast in pictures
First, a big thank you to all who came out. I had a fantastic time, and y'all looked like you were having a good time as well.
As always, a huge thank you to The Cake Lady who not only provided our sacrificial goat again this year, but joined us in rooting for our boys (I think I even heard her hollering something about getting after a Commodore.)
Finally, a big thank you to the Blind Pig Tavern for hosting us putting up with us again this year - maybe they'll even let us back again next year. I just ain't calling to reserve our tables until several months have passed I can assure you.
I concur with Kyle's ban on hubris re: kicking during a goat roast - never again folks. If you were promised a recipe for any of the baked goods (and you should ask your wives as well), email me and I'll send it over.
I have a few photos from this years event and I know some of y'all have some photos as well. Seemed like a good idea to put them in one place - mine are after the jump, feel free to post yours in the comments.

Game Day Evening Comment Thread - Post Game
It sucks. We all know it. Vent if you need to, just keep it reasonably civil. We will be on a no-tolerance policy tonight.

Speculation is they may negotiate with W VA / Missouri to be #14. Baylor's not happy about it so there may be a lawsuit which would put a hold on things.
Goat Roast T Shirt Voting - Remix Edition - Back
Second verse same as the first.......
The candidates for the back of our T Shirt are:
Goat Roast T Shirt Voting - Remix Edition - Front
Since there's a preference in some cases for the front of one shirt and the back of another, we're going to have two polls now, one for each. It's sort of like build-a-bear only in t shirts and not exactly. Nevermind, here we go. The candidates for front of t shirt design are:
2011 Goat Roast T Shirt Voting
Thank you everyone for your patience while we worked some things out. We now have 4 different t shirt designs for you. Some of the designs come from ideas posted in comment threads. Unfortunately, I was unable to translate every idea to a tshirt, but this is primarily due to my lack of skill and for that I apologize.
With only 6 weeks to the Goat Roast we need to make this a quick vote, so be sure and vote early for your favorite design.
All tshirt designs are shown on red shirts, however, you may have the option to purchase the design in a color of your choosing. If you choose an orange shirt and wear it to the Goat Roast, we are not responsible for what happens to you.
Here are the tshirt designs:
2011 Goat Roast - Update
So for those who are interested, a t-shirt vote is in the works, we're working with a new process, so we beg your indulgence while we work out the kinks.
Now for the rest of the details:
The Goat Roast is scheduled for Saturday October 15 at The Blind Pig Tavern in Athens - Campus Location. I've spoken to the nice folks over there and we're all set. Time will be announced when we know when kickoff is.
The Blind Pig has a whole slew of options for your dining pleasure at reasonable prices and a full bar.
Now the part I know you're most interested in. The Cake Lady from Warner Robins, GA has once again agreed to provide us with a delectable Red Velvet Goat Cake just like last year. She's a real nice lady, and we are delighted she's agreed to bake for us again this year. She is always invited to the event and may attend if her health permits such traveling.
Your job is to RSVP in the comments below letting me know how many folks will be in your party. I'll be there with a selection of guests.
As always, no goats will be harmed before or during this event unless y'all take it upon yourselves to sacrifice & roast a goat.
Here's to a great season and a great Roast!
GO DAWGS!!!!
Last Call!!!! Submit T Shirt Designs for the Goat Roast Now
If you said you had a design in mind, if you thought to yourself, i've got an idea, if you've submitted a design in any thread - now is the time and this is the place. Submit your designs by midnight Friday August 26 in the comment thread below - yes that is THIS Friday.
Assuming we have submitted designs, we'll hold a quick vote and get the art off to the tshirt people.
Keep in mind - if no designs are submitted, then we may not have t-shirts, because while I can bake like a demon, I draw like an infant.

GA v. FL - Little League WS Tonight
In case you don't have other plans which would be incredibly important tonight, Georgia is currently battling Florida for the Southeast Regional Little League Title. Game is currently on ESPN, televised from my own home town, Warner Robins, and those gator lovers are up on us 2 -0 in the bottom of the third inning.
Georgia is represented by the Warner Robins All Stars and Florida is represented i think by New Tampa.
We're in Bulldog Red - they aren't.

No T Shirts?
There are no tshirt design submissions at this time. This leaves me wondering, do we want t-shirts? Looking back to last year, we had 3 designs submitted, so it's not a huge drop it's just a drop to zero. The thing is I'm not the artistic type. And i'm even less artistic when there needs to be computer generation or computer design. In other words, if I draw something it looks like the drawing of your average 2 yr old. I know that's considered amazing, expensive art work in some circles, but I sure don't wanna put it on a t-shirt for folks to wear out in public. So here's the deal - y'all tell me if you want t-shirts or not, and we'll go from there.
It's Time!
Dear Y'all,
That evil exam is over, results to be announced roughly mid August (which is when I find out) and I'm back from a blissful stay on an unnamed island in the Tennessee river 15-20 miles inside Alabama. Football season is only 8 more weeks away - 57 days to kick off and, the Second Annual Dawg Sports Sacrificial Goat Roast (which may or may not include actual eating of goat meat) is 14 weeks or 99 days away. Since we're now less than 100 days to our annual gathering, it's time to settle the last two questions - where are we going, and what do the t-shirts look like?
About where to go - I didn't hear any complaints about the Blind Pig - but, I am open to alternate suggestions. We've seen logic supporting keeping it at the Pig & moving it - but the decision is yours. Vote in the poll after the jump.
UGA v. Notre Dame Sign
UGA beat Smokey in the last round, and Notre Dame's tradition outscored WVU's so we find ourselves and our beloved UGA on the sidelines facing Notre Dame's Play Like A Champion sign tradition.
Current Standings UGA 51%, ND 49%.
UGA v. Smokey
I'm no fan of the WWL but, we can't allow UGA to lose to Smokey, not now, not ever. At last count, UGA holds a slim lead, 52% - 48% - so vote early & vote often :)
Roasting - Save the Date - Oct 15th
In light of this information, I'm not sure we want to continue with the Goat part of our get together, but be that as it may....you the voters have spoken and in doing so you have chosen the date for our annual get together.
This is your official invitation to Save October 15th for our Second Annual DawgSports Sacrificial Goat Animal Roast!
I will be in attendance and bringing at a minimum Brunswick Stew, brownies and, if I can sweet talk the amazing cake lady into it, another lovely red velvet cake for your noming pleasure.
Vandy will be the opponent, so bring yourselves, bring your friends, & bring your appetites.
Still to be announced are the t-shirt design contest & the location. Be thinking about where you want to go and start drafting your t-shirt designs. Suggestions and RSVP'ing may be done in the comments below.

Roasting the Goat - Part Deux
In case you missed the news, I have another commitment which prevents me from being in Atlanta for opening weekend. This does not mean the Roasting cannot happen that weekend, just that if it is to happen that weekend, one of y'all needs to make it so.
This brings us to a choice to be made - you may decide to roast goat for Boise State (and take care of the logistics of doing so) or an alternate date could be selected.
My personal proposal for an alternate date is: October 15 UGA v. Vanderbilt. It's an away game which eliminates the nightmare of who's got tickets, who needs tickets, & can we all sit together. There's no good tailgating for the Vandy game anyway, and it's Vandy, so we are likely to get that big W.
Of course I'm open to alternate suggestions - so you get to vote: Roast for Boise, Roast for Vandy, or Other - explained in comments.
Get busy voting y'all

Only a Gator Fan.......
Y'all I am on vacation in Southern California. I know the folks out here play wussy football (I'm looking at YOU Lane Kiffen) and they're prone to cheating (USC, Reggie Bush) and all that but I swear to y'all I never thought I'd see such a thing as this. Now of course ONLY a gatah fan would do this to an otherwise perfectly decent vehicle. Heck, I feel sorry for the car! You see the chicken stripe down the middle right? Didn't see the owner, found this gem at Naval Air Station, North Island, San Diego, California....
I hate Florida.
That is all.

Hines Ward - DWTS Star
This week the celebrities got to choose a song that was told a story about them. Hines chose a song for his Mom, Earth, Wind & Fire's "Fantasy". During the footage explaining his choice & of his practices, he talked about how he chose the song for his mom (who was in the audience) because of all the sacrifices she made raising him on her own. When he said she was more proud of him for going to college than playing football, we all got to see a photo of Hines playing for Georgia. His score this week was even better than prior weeks, earning 25/30 from the judges, including a 9/10 from one judge, he tied for the top score of the week. Once again this week, Hines excelled.
