Bloody Elbow Frank Trigg not cut from the UFC

MMAJUNKIE is reporting that Frank Trigg will get another fight in The UFC.

"Maybe it was a change of plans. Or a change of heart. Or simply a matter of the Ultimate Fighting Championship again listening to what the fans overwhelmingly wanted.

Whatever the reason, one thing is certain: Frank Trigg will get another UFC fight."

Personally, I thought it was very unfair for Trigg to immediately get cut after losing his return fight to a top 10 welterweight.

"They said I'll get one more shot, another fight, to prove I belong here," Trigg told MMAjunkie.com. "If I win, they've got to keep me around. If I lose and it's back-to-back losses, they'll probably drop me, rightfully so."

"No disrespect to Koscheck, but the fight only went a minute (and) 40 (seconds), and he only got in one good shot," Trigg said. "In my mind, nothing really happened. I got caught. We could fight again, and I think it would be an entirely different outcome."

Before Koscheck they offered him a fight against Johny Hendricks, but didn't accept.

"My understanding when I signed my deal – well, at first, they offered me a fight with Johny Hendricks," Trigg said. "But I didn't want that fight because I know Johny and used to train him. A couple weeks later, they offered me Josh Koscheck. They said, 'We gave Josh a couple options, and he chose you too."

Here's also an interesting quote:

"They basically said, 'If you lose, we have to keep you for one more fight since Josh is a top-five guy and it's such a tough fight,"  he said. "That's why I was so surprised that Dana said that I was being cut."

Can you blame the guy for being a bit surprised about possibly being cut right after the fight? Hopefully he takes an easier fight if he plans on staying and retiring in the UFC.

BTW, I suck at these... How can I put up a pic? I tried almost everything and it wouldn't show the pic.

Bloody Elbow Cro Cop interview after loss to Dos Santos

Cro cop admited after ufc 103 that he dosnt have the passion for mma.
Croatian gladiator Mirko Filipovic didnt make any excuses for him self or anyone else after a new failure in the UFC octagon in Dallas. Defeat from the brazilian "stallion" Junior dos Santos best describes hes own sentance: I fucked up, and thats it.

Its obvius your far from a champion form?
- Maybe those who say i'm for old metal scrap yard are right. Its obvius i cant break the psychological barrier in the octagon. In addition there is 20 years of spartanic training behind me, its come to some fatigue. Years have caught up to me, "i'm eaten by saturation" (hes a bit fed up).

What exactly happend at to stoppage in the 3rd round?
- Dos Santos hit me with hes fist in the eye and slashed my eyelid. Blood and sweet compliantly blurred my sight field, i stood like a blind man in the cage. In one moment at the end of the fight i confused the referee and the opponent. Later on it was reviled that the inside from my eyelid broke from the punch.
In the locker room I got four stitches.

Did you on surrender on your own or was it the referees initiative?
- No, i didnt give up, nor did i asked the referee to stop it. It was hes call.

Did the refree stop the fight prematurle ?
- It dosnt matter, i would have lost on points regardless.

Did Dos Santos surprise u with hes aggressiveness and strength?
- Simply, hes younger, hungrier, more motivated. He wanted to win more.

The blood on Santos face shows that you were not completely harmless?
I broke hes arcade, several times I hit well, but overall speaking, it was my failure.

Where did that lethal HK vanish?
The surface was slippery as glass. A couple of times i almost landed on my butt trying to do the high-kick.
However, thats no alibi. That was not a performance people would buy tickets for.

So what did hinder you in Dallas?
The hunger for wining is missing. I became a "ziheras" (some who only does safe things. dose not take risks) , i'm not wiling to risk anymore. I thank everyone who supported me, all who cheered for me and everyone who helped me to prepare for a duel against Dos Santos. I'm sorry I have disappointed them.

These sound like farewell words from ultimate fight?
For two decades, I feel like i'm on military time. Every morning i get up at 6 and i dont stop with sportactivities till night.
I wishing some civilian life. I enter the cage, and i'm thinking of fishing in Privlaca. You cant win that way

If this was your last fight in his career?
- Maybe I should have said my goodbyes in 2006, after I won the Pride Grand Prix ...

Not a perfect translation. I feel real bad for Cro Cop. It's obvious we'll never see the "PRIDE FC" Cro Cop again. I will always be a fan and support him no matter what he decides to do with his career. WAR CRO COP!

Bloody Elbow UFC's "Generous Offer" to Fedor

What M-1 meant by the UFC's"very generous offer"....

By: Carmichael Dave
CBS Radio MMA Host
Twitter.com/Carmichaeldave

So we all know the deal with M-1 and what they are saying about co-promotion. I'm not here to say who's right and wrong in this deal, but I can tell you some of the specifics that were offered to Fedor.....

- The UFC offered Fedor a 6 fight, 30 million dollar contract. That's 5 mil a fight

- The UFC offered Fedor an immediate title shot

- Lesnar/Fedor would be the biggest PPV in MMA history (we assume), and the UFC offered M-1 Global a cut of the PPV on top of Fedor's purse.

- Fedor was free to wear as many M-1 logoed items as he wished.

- The UFC also relented on allowing Fedor to compete in combat sambo.

Apparently, for good or bad, M-1 refuses to sign a deal unless the UFC agrees to co-promote.

I can tell you right now, the boys at ZUFFA will never, EVER agree to that. So if M-1 doesnt relent on that item alone, the Fedor to UFC talks are dead. Look for Team Emelianenko to turn to Strikeforce next. With co-promotions already in the books with Affliction, that shouldnt be a stopping point.

I will have more comprehensive coverage on my show tonight at 9pm PST. You can stream live atNorthern California's Sports Station KHTK - Homepage and call toll free at 1-800-920-1140. Twitter updates to the minute at twitter.com/carmichaeldave

Bloody Elbow The Dana White Announcement Guessing Game

This is a time killer until the announcement is made. His history of "big announcements" sucks, but with Affliction going bye bye it might be interesting.

So, I'm thinking it'll be about:

-Affliction's fall as an mma promotion, and them being sponsors again.

-Tito Ortiz's signing

-UFC being a step closer to signing Fedor

-Coleko's kidnapping for his conspiracy theories

What else do you guys think?

You don't win shit here. This is just for kicks.  I suck at attempted threads and writing so I'll end it here.

Bloody Elbow Diaz/Riggs 2 for Welterweight Title confirmed (with poll)

MMA WEEKLY reports:

"A rematch between rivals Nick Diaz and Joe Riggs is set for the main card of Strikeforce "Carano vs. Cyborg" on Aug. 15. The bout will be for the newly created welterweight title.

Sources close to both fighters confirmed the news to MMAWeekly.com on Monday. An announcement from the promotion is expected shortly.

Bad blood remains between the fighters. Following Riggs' decision victory over Diaz at UFC 57, the two brawled in a Las Vegas hospital until broken up by security. Both hit career skids later in 2006 and were released from the UFC. "

Sweet. Two dudes that hate each other, brawled inside a hospital and both of these guys are big time shit talkers. Another interesting thing about this are the recent things Riggs has been saying about Diaz's team mate Jake Shields, that should add more fuel to their rivalry. SOLID card for Strikeforce.

Anyone wanna add a picture for me? :)

Here is how the rumored card is looking so far:

- Gina Carano (7-0) vs. Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos (7-1)
- Josh Thomson (16-2) vs. Gilbert Melendez (15-2)
- Alistair Overeem (29-11) vs. Fabricio Werdum (11-4-1)
- Nick Diaz (20-7) vs. Joe Riggs (30-10)
- Jake Shields (23-4-1) vs. Matt Lindland (21-6)

- Erin Toughill (10-2-1) vs. Marloes Coenen (16-3)
- Roger Gracie (2-0) vs. TBA
- Billy Evangelista (9-1) vs. TBA
- Poppies Martinez (16-5) vs. TBA

Thanks MMASupreMacy

Bloody Elbow Bobby Lashley signs with MFC, set to make debut May 15th

From MMA Weekly:

"Bobby Lashley is a phenomenal athlete and a very impressive fighter who wants to make a big name for himself in mixed martial arts,” noted MFC Owner/President Mark Pavelich. “He is a very exciting prospect and he will get a monumental opportunity to break into the spotlight at MFC 21.”

Also, it seems that he'll be debuting his nickname as well- Bobby "The Dominator" Lashley. I haven't seen any dominating from Lashely, but the name fits his appearance I guess.  Lashley's opponent will be Mike Cook (7-3) a Frank Shamrock trained fighter.

So looks like "The Dominator" will be busy this year as he already has 2 upcoming fights, May 15th against Mike Cook and June 27th against Bob Sapp.
