Baltimore Beat Down Anquan Boldin

Article in the Sun that Ozzie is talking to the Cards about Boldin. The price is a 1st and a third. My feeling is to do it, do it now, and don't look back. Boldin is in the prime of his career. DHB will be gone by #26 and there is no receiver in the draft short of Crabtree that we can authoritatively say will be as good as Boldin is right now.

Is the price high? Yes. Is it worth it. Absolutely. Boldin in our offense automatically makes us a top 2 or 3 contender in the AFC and we were only 4 minutes from the SB last year. Which Squealer CB can cover Boldin for the whole game. and if Polomalu has to give help over the top, how are they going to stop Heap and the running game.

Ray is getting no younger. This move gives us a two year window to win a SB before the lockout. Boldin is better than anyone we could draft. Pick up another CB in the second round and don't look back.

Get em' Ozzie. Get em' now.

Baltimore Beat Down breaking news

Anita Marks (who I really dislike but that is immaterial) just reported on The Fan that the Ravens have significantly stepped up their offer to Ray Lewis and the two sides are hammering out a deal before the start of free agency. (HOPE IT WORKS)

Other news already reported is that the Ravens have broken off talks with Jason Brown's team and have told him that he no longer fits in their plans. (BUMMER)

Finally, the Ravens apparently have upped their offer to Bart Scott and he may be close to resigning as well (THAT"S GREAT)

Baltimore Beat Down What's your opinion Beatdown fans?

My top 3 priorities in FA is to 1 - sign Suggs longterm, 2 - sign Brown longterm and 3- give Ray his last contract. In that order. Do you agree, or do you think it is more important to keep Ray as the most important move in the offseason.

Our needs for the draft are reasonably easy to see. What is more important to you? Drafting a playmaking WR with the #1 or a top cover corner with the #1 (realizing that if value for the pick is not there, you aren't going to be stupid and draft for pure need). Personally, I think CB is a bigger need, even if a guy like DHB or Nicks might be available at our position in the draft.

If Jason Brown leaves, do you take your #1 or #2 and spend it replacing him, or do you let Chris Chester slide over into the position?

Who is your sleeper pick for the Ravens in the first round? Be realistic though - Curry isn't dropping that far, but say if Pettigrew the TE is available, do you tap him?

Think about it....

Baltimore Beat Down The Ravens manhandle the Deadskins

As I thought this wasn't much of a game. For about 5 minutes in the 4th quarter it was interesting after watching Willis try to give the game away. But we started out with a 14 point lead and ended the same way. The D was in Jason Campbell's head from the begining of the game. Clinton Portis quit after 2 quarters. And the Danny can go back to Landover where the Maryland Redskins live. Talk about an overrated team. Nice defense, but the offense has been offensive for the last quarter of the season. Joe Cool had one of his worst games of the year and still managed to throw the game ending touchdown. Now if Tony Homo hadn't pissed the game away in Pigsburg we would be staring at owning the AFC North after we beat the Squealers next week. 9-4. Feel good to be looking at the playoffs again with a rookie QB, a rookie HC and the best offensive coordinator in the game. Bring it on Squealers. Time to play in our venue. And btw - Flacco's a better QB now than he was in the begining of the year and prima donna Ben better watch out or he could be looking around our field for the body pieces that get blasted off of him by the real "best" defense in the NFL.

Baltimore Beat Down Flacco vs Ryan

It is going to be fascinating over the next few years to watch the growth of these two quarterbacks. They will be forever linked as the top two of their draft class. The question is... "Who will be the best?"

Its almost unfair to Flacco given that Ryan was the #3 pick in the draft, was the consensus best QB, and the consensus "most ready to play right away QB." Flacco was tagged with the "best potential" but needed the "most seasoning" given where he played in college, the quality of the competition and the type of defenses he played against.

Ryan is the fiery leader. Flacco is Joe Cool. Ryan reminds me of a young Peyton Manning. Joe Cool reminds me of a young Tom Brady.

Ryan is glitz and splash. Flacco is steady and strong.

Ryan never cracked 60% completion rate in college and he is in the high 50's for this year. Flacco looks like a more accurate passer with a stronger arm and is already above 60% in completion rate.

Flacco as a rookie, in my estimation, already throws the best 15 - 20 yard out pattern in the NFL. The ball explodes out of his hand and is on the reciever so fast the defensive player doesn't have a chance. If you have watched the games this year their have been a number of LB's, CB's, and Safties who thought they were going to jump the route only to find the ball zinging past their ear before they could even get their hands in position.

It will be interesting to watch in the next few years to see how it pans out. My preference is Brady over Manning and Flacco over Ryan. Anyone else feel that way?
