Mariner Moves Today...7/18/07...
and yesterday.
Jake Woods has been optioned to AAA Tacoma, which still means that he could be picked up and/or outrighted.
Yesterday's news was that Jason Davis cleared waivers and was outrighted to AAA Tacoma.
For those of you who don't believe me, I can't give you a link. I get the info in the press release, which can't be copied and pasted, nor linked to.
Pudge Suspended...
Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez has been suspended for one game for bumping the ump in the first game of the series. He will serve the suspension today, unless he appeals.
Dan Patrick
If anyone cares...
Originally reported this afternoon and announced on his radio program, Dan Patrick is leaving ESPN, which does include his radio show.
The last day of his radio program will be August 17, 2007. It will be sad to see a decent radio program go by the wayside. I guess it has served its purpose.
Other pitcher signings, non M's related...
Jerome Williams & Brandon Claussen both signed with the Washington Nationals today. Williams incentive laden minor league deal and Claussen straight minor league deal.
Here is the story...

300 character minimum filler
If anyone cares...Ryan Franklin...
signs and Mark Mulder re-signs with Cards. Also former M's infielder Jolbert Cabrera signed a minor league deal.
Wow, how about them apples...
Just for the 300,000 character thinggy........
Little Tidbits of News, nothing M's related...
I will post sites later when they become officially official.
Mark Loretta is signing with the Astros, 1 yr/$2.5M + $1M in incentives.
Doug Mientkiewicz is signing with the Yanks, but I don't have the official monies.
The RJ to AZ trade should go through in the next day or so. Luis Vizciano + at least one major prospect going to NYY.
OK, these are just too funny...
to pass up on.
Finally the Batista story is official.

And now the title says it all in this story...

Just classic articles.
And this...
Yankees: The New York Daily News is reporting that even though the club has Andy Pettitte and most likely has Kei Igawa on the way and Clemens on their radar, they may also have interest in Joel Pineiro. The Daily News said a person familiar with the Yankees' thinking said the team also has renewed interest in the right-hander, who became a free agent Tuesday when he was not tendered a contract by the Mariners. Pineiro is 28 and made $6.8 million last season when he went 8-13 with a career-worst 6.36 ERA in 40 appearances -- including 25 starts before he was shifted to the bullpen in August. The newspaper reported the Yanks also had expressed interest in Pineiro before the July 31 trade deadline before acquiring Cory Lidle in the Bobby Abreu trade.
Pettitte and the Yanks, along with other news
Pettitte resigned with the Yanks for 1 yr/$16M. Story here, http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20061208&content_id=1754838&vkey=hotstove 2006&fext=.jsp
Inge signs 4 yr/$24M extension with Tigers. McDougal signs 3 yr extension with White Sox. Kline signs 2 yr/$3.5M contract with Giants.
Jays make another signing
Toronto hsa signed Royce Clayton to a one year deal worth $1.5M.
Boy, Riccardi has the checkbook out this year. Hopefully it will fare him well to keep up with the Yankees and Red Sox.
Freddie Garcia trade rumor ??? and other news
Wow, this story, http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20061128&content_id=1746990&vkey=hotstove 2006&fext=.jsp seems like a strange trade. Not sure if it will happen.
Further in the story, it talks about the Padres and Craig Counsell as well as Manny Ramirez. I guess Counsell decided otherwise, as he signed a two year deal with Milwaukee today. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/press_releases/press_release.jsp?ymd=20061129&content_id=1747 211&vkey=pr_mil&fext=.jsp&c_id=mil
Zaun resigns with Jays
Toronto resigned Zaun -- 2yr/$7.25M
Barajas decided not to sign at the last minute, today, so Toronto resigned Zaun to the contract listed above.
Here is the link, for those that need the proof:
M's announcer will not return...
Ron (Red) Fairly will not return next season. For all those interested, or not interested, here is the link to the story:
His comments, etc. have gone down a little this year. I thought he was pretty decent, just from listening to the M's broadcasts for the past couple of years.
EX -- Mariner in the news...sort of
I didn't see if mentioned anywhere else on here, but could have easily missed it. I haven't read everything like some of you (no disrespect meant by any means).
9/1 Kansas City Royals
Released LHP Bobby Madritsch.
He was a friend of my bro for years, so I thought it should be mentioned, especially since he was an EX-M's player. Also, Justin Leone was DFA'd from Portland by the Padres on 9/1.
Reed update (if anyone cares)
I am not sure if anyone has posted this or not. I think it could have been read at the times, however this came from Rotoworld:
[After initially saying he'd begin a minor league rehab assignment Thursday, the Mariners now don't think Jeremy Reed (thumb) will be ready.
"As of today, he's not quite ready," trainer Rick Griffin said. "We don't want him to be 75 percent or 80 percent. We want him to be 95 or 100 percent"]
Maybe just another delay of the inevitable.
Moyer gone........
Take what you will from it. I am guessing all the names will be released after the game or in the morning.

First announced to most on FSN West during the game.
Deanna's note: I figured this was front-page news and figured out how to move diaries. Go me!
Also, the players involved were announced as Andrew Bard, 22, RHP, and Andrew Baldwin, 24, also RHP, both from class A minor leagues.
