As a scorer and teammate but an absolute horrible fit for the Warriors with Monta and Nellie here. Getting rid of him needs to be priority number 1 if we want to maximize the potential of our roster and become a playoff team. Even ahead of all the FO BS because we have a very nice mix of young players who want to win and play for eachother. I'm saying this because we can visibly see the lack of ball movement, poor shot selection, and negative score differential that goes on when he's playing and especially when he and Monta are in the game together. Not to mention his inability to hit 3's and not disrupt offensive flow. Even as efficient as he has been this year his inability/unwillingness to make the extra pass hinder the strengths of the rest of the guys on the floor with him.
We are full of able scorers and we do not need a go to big like most on here suggest if we are willing to play as a team and we have a healthy Randolph, Wright, Biedrins, and Turiaf who can be strong rebounders and shot blockers while getting their points on pick and rolls and offensive rebounds. Having Wrights current post game(i know we haven't been able to see it cause of injury) and Randolph's growing post game(slowly i know) give us enough post up presence considering a starting backcourt of Monta and Steph with a shooter like Buike, Morrow, or possibly Bell would be who we want taking the majority of shots while our bigs do the dirtty work and get lay ups and dunks.
Nellie's system isn't built for back to the basket players and to no suprise we dont have many. It's all about running, unselfish ball movement, getting/hitting more shots than your opponents, staying relatively even on the boards and winning the turnover battle. Obviously right now we suck on the boards but have been taking better care of the ball as of late. What I've noticed lately with Monta but not so much in Maggette is a willingness to partake in the ball movement aspect of the offense and be a bit more aggressive on D. As long as Monta continues that, a backcourt of him and Steph will work as possibly the most potent offensive backcourt in the NBA. Defensively as long as they keep an average of 2+ steals per game and give consistent effort they will be sufficient enough in helping us achieve more shots than our opponents which will be pivotal to our success.
We have 15 games left and it would not be shocking to see them go 7-8 the rest of the way but 3-12 would also not be shocking if Maggette continues to play heavy minutes with Monta without adjusting his game accordingly. Either way it will probably take a miracle to get someone to take on Maggette's contract but with this franchises fortunes over the last 2 years a miracle shouldn't be too much to ask for. Let me hear your guys views on Maggs and what you think about the Warriors recent play.
P.S. Getting Turner would also be a miracle!
Wanted to hear GSOM's thoughts on the LBJ, Wade, & Bosh signing with Knicks article.
Personally I would love to see it happen. I'n not a Knicks fan but i certainly would want to watch that team play together. I was reading the comments on the article and I was suprised that many people said they would stop watching the NBA if that happened. Them being in the east, meaning the Warriors would not have to go through them to get to the finals but be able to meet them in the finals, I'm all for it.(I know i know we gotta make the playoffs first but lets not go there, ok) Let me hear what you guys think.
To all Monta, Biedrins, and Maggette "Haters" and everyone else.
I've talked my fair share of trash about Monta, felt vindicated by Maggette's efficiency, and never lost faith in Beadrins abilities. But after all that we've seen with this team this year none of the reasons we debate about the pros and cons of those 3 can even remotely compare to how we "should" be feeling about DON NELSON. He is absolutely incapable of putting this team in the best position to be competitive.
Lets start with his inability to connect with Randolph and get him to understand that he is not a jump shooter and we didn't need him to be concerned with his offense as much as we needed his energy, passion, rebounding and shot blocking. Nellie could not tolerate his mental mistakes(that are the growing pains of young players) so he jerked his PT around causing him to lose confidence for a stretch and strain their relationship on top of that.
Now lets move on to his man crush on Maggette. Small ball for us works great when we play 3 guards with 2 bigs, yet Nellie consistently feels the need to play 3 guards with 1 big and Maggs or another SF. I don't know what our team +/- is when a SF is at the 4 but it is undoubtedly greater than -8 per game. Considering we've lost 13 games by 8 or less we could be significantly better if he wasn't afraid to surround 3 scorers with 2 team/defense oriented bigs. I'll never understand why he's so protective of fouls with the bigs when he'd rather play small anyways. Maggette should play SF only, be our 6th man no matter what and play limited time with Monta because when they are on the floor together our offense is very stagnant.
Up next we got Monta. It seems as though his relationship with Monta is so fragile that he's afraid if he doesn't play him 45 minutes per game Monta will pull a Sjax on him. The problems with that are Monta always looks gassed in the 4th quarter, bench players like CJ and Morrow often struggle because their PT is so sporadic they don't know what to expect night in and night out, and Curry is forced to take a backseat to Monta more than he should because he doesn't get enough PT with Monta off the floor.
Last but not least is Biedrins. Andris will never be a low post scorer and that is absolutely fine, Andris will never be a 1st team All-NBA defender, and that is ok too. What Andris can do is be among the league leaders in rebounds, block 2 shots per game, and get 6-8ppg off of offensive rebounds and tip-ins. For him to do that though he needs to only have to outwork the other teams C, not also PF because he's stuck as our only big on the floor. I should also point out how only recently he gave a damn if injured players were on the bench for at least home games. This is supposed to be a team and it's the coaches responsibility to make the players understand that if at least not respect it. I am convinced if we traded Monta for say D. Wade we would be 4-8 wins better but if we fired Nellie and brought in say Tom Thibodeau or any other coach who understood defense and that you can't win going small when LBJ is not your 4 that we would have 8-12 more wins.
Let me hear your guys thoughts but I feel all this bickering about the players is pretty much pointless when they are just playing their games while the coach isn't giving his best effort to put his team in position to win ball games.(if you don't like me using 'effort" than replace that with making logical decisions for his team.)
P.S. You can call me an official Nellie, Rowell, Cohen, and Reilly Hater!

Fire Nellie? Trade Jack? Trade Monta? Which would be best to do first?
So the players are giving up on Nellie, Jack still wants out, and Monta cannot co-exist with Curry in the same backcourt so which do we do first? My vote goes to firing Nellie because it's obvious he only cares about getiing the 24 wins he needs to pass Lenny Wilkins. But i also wouldn't mind trading Monta and Jack if we can get the right players in return. I'd prefer to keep Curry since he is a true point while Monta is pretty much just a scorer(which we have plenty of). Some possible trades are......
Jack and ME8 to Charotte for Diaw and Wallace. I love this trade but dont know that Charlotte would be willing to take on the extra years and Jack's attitude.
Jack and ME8 to Chicago for Deng, Salmons and James Johnson to make the #'s work. I like this one too and I'd think Chicago would too considering Rose is a bigger pg and they lack a consistent scorer at the 2 with BG gone.
Jack, ME8 and Acie to Philly for EB and Kapono. Not crazy about this but it would give us a decent PF and free up some cap space for next season. Kapono is in final year of contract.
Jack, ME8 and Turiaf to Toronto for Bosh, Derozan and M. Banks. I like this for both teams but only for us if we can re-sign Bosh. For Toronto they get a legit scorer to play next to Calderon and can move Turk to the 4 with Jack at the 3 and Ronny on the bench. This only happens though if Toronto is sitting in the 7 or 8 seed after the all-star break.
Jack, ME8 and George to Washington for Jamison and Butler. I like this one a lot.
I know how much most of you guys LOVE Monta so im sure there'll be some "trade Monta are u crazy". But all these trades would improve us this year except the philly trade which is more about getting a little cap room. And remember we want to get rid of jack for better on court chemistry. Yes Jack did have 15 dimes the other night but those are rare occasions that he is not a ball stopper.
Let me hear what you guys think......
