Taylor Teagarden Makes the Most Out of His Opportunity
Taylor Teagarden was called up today for the Rangers game with the Oakland A's. I remember when Tea played on that national championship team in 2005. He was a good guy and I was super stoked to see him go to the Rangers. He started out well, but this year, went 1-29 in the majors. Today, with other catchers out due to injury, he belted a 2 run shot in the 6th for insurance.
It's great to see Teagarden performing at a high level like he did at Texas.
Nate Jones promoted from Practice Squad
Due to the ankle injury sustained by Laurent Robinson (St. Louis), Nate Jones has been promoted from the practice squad.
Awesome news for a guy who gave it 110% while at Texas and is getting his chance to prove his worth in the NFL. Couldn't be happier for the guy.
Couldn't really find a more reliable link than this one. If you scroll down to the player info, it describes Laurent's injury and the promotion.
Style Points?
Texas coach Mack Brown said: "It's way too early for style points. I don't care about that. Forty-one to 10 is enough style points."
Ummm, am I the only other person bothered by this statement? Maybe Mack doesn't remember last year, but if Texas isn't flashy enough and doesn't put up enough points to wow the voters, USC will pass our beloved Horns sooner rather than later (they trail Texas by a measly 8 points in the AP and a more comfortable 31 points in the coaches poll). Which suggests that it is NOT way too early for style points.
Now, I'm not hitting the panic button, but I'm just a little concerned. I know this point has already been brough up quite a bit, but I don't know what will happen to my sanity if Texas wins out in unimpressive fashion, and the nation falls in love with USC and Florida.
