The Phinsider Yet another Offseason thread now that Dansby is signed

Ok well the Dolphins made may Birthday special by signing Karlos Dansby (my b-day was 3-4) so now lets see what they will do to make this team an instant competitor...

Draft:

Round 1 - Miami Selects: Earl Thomas, FS Texas

Earl Thomas is a 5'10 ball hawking FS out of Texas. He might be small but has the instincts, speed, and strength to pay at the next level.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRrjr5HG_ck&feature=related

Round 2 - Cam Thomas NT UNC

Jason Ferguson is gone... out of the picture completely. Cam Thomas had a very nice college career at UNC and will upgrade our defense immediately!

Round 3- Jimmy Graham TE Miami

Jimmy is a fan favorite and wont disappoint! Has size, speed, and will understand the playbook quickly due to his love for the game and intelligence.

Round 4 - Riley Cooper WR Florida

This guy can play. He roomed with Tebow at Florida and was never really oustanding but he has speed (4.51) and size (6'3 222lbs) I being a gator fan have watched him closely and this guy will be great at the next level!

Round 5- Legarrette Blount RB Oregon

Great strength (reminds me ALOT of Ronnie) should be a 1st round pick if not for his suspension which was stupid... so he got in a fight... if it was not on national TV... he would have gotten a slap on the hand but since it was televised, it was like Peer pressure and they gave him a year off (hell thats great fort us though! AMAZING VALUE in the 5th!!)

The Phinsider Players that should now be rising on the Fins Big Board

1. Golden Tate - This guy is just amazing! A 4.42  40 yard dash, 17 reps at 225lbs, and a 10' broad jump. He is just going to be explosive in the NFL and that's all their is to it! I would love to see this Steve Smith look alike (the Carolina one) become a dolphin!

2. Jimmy Graham - What a day for Graham! A 4.56   40 yard dash, 38.5 vertical, 10' broad jump, and many other accomplishments that people don't care about but scouts do (3 cone drill, 60 yard shuttle, and 20 yard shuttle were all very good also). A fan favorite here in Miami, Jimmy can be a starter in the NFL right away given the right opportunity (and Miami will definitely give him that opportunity!) Please draft Jimmy in round 3!

3. CJ Spiller - A 4.37   40 yard time really improved his stock in my opinion. Now while Ronnie should be staying due to a clause in his contract for an uncapped year, CJ could be the future play maker for this franchise. I really like this kid and think he could do amazing things as a RB/Slot WR/KR/PR!

So go ahead and tear me apart, but I would love to see these 3 players all drafted by Miami this April!

The Phinsider This is my insight to our offseason

This is meant ot be a real scenario for our offseason. I feel we have some huge needs at NT, ILB, OLB, FS, and WR. (I would not mind a TE either) So here is what I think we should do:

1. Sign Vince Wilfork. Pay whatever NE offers + some. He has hinted he would like to play in Miami. This dude is a huge playmaker in his prime and will resurrect this D.

2. Trade down, get an extra 2nd rounder, and draft Brandon Spikes. This guy is solid run stopper, VERY solid in pass coverage (what we need), and just a playmaker. I think he is just as good as McClain if not better.

3. Cut Joey Porter, Gibril Wilson, and Fasano. This will free up cap space for my next move.

4. Sign Brandon Marshall. This guy is just a freak on the field and will be a WR1 for the next 10 years! Give him as much $ as he wants!

5. Make the draft look like this:

1- Brandon Spikes

2a - Arrelious Benn (a playmaker who could help the O)

2b - Aaron hernandez (Need a TE who can make plays like him)

3 - Major Wright (Solid in coverage.. just waiting for Gator Haters to rip me apart calling me a homer, but I will find a video and will post)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fJxN3DWQCI&feature=related (No videos of Wright yet sadly.. but I did find this:))

4 - O'Brien Schofield (young pass rusher who could make an impact)

So thats what I think should happen. Go ahead and tear me apart.

The Phinsider Football related but not Dolphin related...

Im going to see the new movie the Blindside next friday. Is anyone else gonna see it? I feel like Im gonna cry (It makes me feel like a pansy:/) I actually teared up on the commercials especially on 2 parts

1. She lets "big Mike" stay at her house and gives him a bedroom all to himself! And

He says "This(room) is mine?"

She says "Yes sir"

He says "I never had one before"

She says "What a room to yourself?"

He says in a very sad voice "A bed"

2. Michael is actually playing football now for the first time, and his mother tells him "This team is your family Michael. When you look at him, you think of me, and how you have my back. Are you gonna protect the family michael?"

"Yes Mam"

It should be a great movie and I am now on the Michael Oher fan club. Maybe when his rookie contract is up in Baltimore he can come to Miami (hey I can dream!!) But yes, please watch the ppreviews and go see the movie!

The Phinsider Which Dolphis deserve to go to the Pro Bowl as of now?

So after 7 games, which Miami Dolphins layers deserve to go to the Pro Bowl? I have seen some very impressive players, and some not so impressive players, but here are my selections...

1. Ronnie Brown RB - Has been beasting it up. T-4 in rushing TDs.

2. Randy Starks DE/DT - 3.5 Sacks but has been in the backfield almost every play!

3. Ted Ginn Jr. KR - If he just has a decent season for the rest of the year, he should sneak in.

That all I could think of:( Who do you think deserves to get in?

The Phinsider New WR/KR/PR/HB?

So i know some people are unhappy with out current punt returner Davone Bess... Well I have the solution... Will.I.Am. Incase none of you know him he is the founder/hip hop singer of the black-eyed peas. He has always wanted to play football and has requested a tryout with the Fins. He claims he beat Jamaal Anderson in a race and wants to challenge Usain bolt to a 100m race! Wow! I personally love players like this we have one in Joey Porter, others that are like him include Chad Ocho Cinco and B-Marshall! I love people who can get into the opponents heads! So thoughts?

I say Yes:)

The Phinsider Need some help!

Hi guys, sorry to post this but I really need your help. I am 17 years old and weigh roughly 220 lbs. I am 6'1 and think I can handle myself pretty well. My father and I planned on going to the NYJ - miami game in the meadowlands... one problem. He wont let me go witha  Dolphin Jersey. He says that we will have to take a train/bus from Times Square and that he doesnt want to get "spit on" and/or get in a "fight". Can anyone please put some insight in.

Thanks so much!

The Phinsider A proven number 1 WR!

Ok well, over the past couple of months I ahve heard how Miami has great number 2 Wide Receivers... well now there is a young, proven number 1 Wide Receiver on the trade block:

Brandon Marshall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I personally love the kid. Makes great plays and has great hands. I believe he will be a top 5 WR in the game if he can stay out of trouble. So do you think now that Denver has told him he will be traded that we should go after him?

The Phinsider It looks like Percy might be the pick.

percy has been visiting Miami ALOT. And last night he had dinner with Mr. Parcells! I like him (naturally being a Gator fan) but I would rather have Hakeem Nicks.

 http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/football/pro/dolphins/sfl-hyde-dolphins-percy-harvin-042409,0,3618167.column

My Thoughts: Percy is a very fast, explosive WR/RB who can break open any game. He should do very well in the NFL, but he will be there at 44. I dont think this is a smart decision.

I have a question, do you think they will be as successful as they were in college? Will Henne be 100% confident knowing he has Long protecting him still? I think so. Just want to see what other people think (yes I know this is a random toopic but IM bored and there is still 6 days until the draft!)

The Phinsider Ronnie Brown.. On His way out?

Michael Lombardi has heard that Ronnie Brown is on the trading block.

http://eatdrinkandsleepfootball.com/blog/2009/04/is_ronnie_brown_on_the_trading_block.html

Now my honest opinion to this is, I think they should do it, but only for the right price. If someone offers a 1st and mid round pick (3 or 4th) I would take it in a heartbeat. Their are plenty of RBs in this years draft class in early and late rounds (Donald Brown, LeSean mcCoy, Moreno, Beanie, Kory Sheets, Ian Johnson, etc!!!!) So if we can get a 1st round pick, I would do it.

The Phinsider Hixon Heading to Miami?

Rumor is that the NYG are very close to trading for WR Braylon Edards. If this dos happen, it is also rumored Miami is willing to trade their 5th round pick for Domenik Hixon!

http://www.realfootball365.com/articles/dolphins/13847

My Opinion: Hixon might not be the best WR in the NFL, but I like him ALOT! He he started to show alot of potential at the end of last season. I think this would be a good move.

The Phinsider Torry holt Cut

Torry Holt has just been cut by the St Louis Rams. I personally would love to see him here in Miami. He is a greaqt route runner and can teach Ginn and Bess in so many different ways! He is a future HoFer (in my opinion) and still has game left in him to be a boderline WR1/WR2 if he has help next to him. I say we sign him to a 1 year contract just like Buffalo did with TO, and have him teach our youngsters for one year.

The Phinsider The Draft in my Eyes

I would put money on our draft going a little something like this

1. Alphonso Smith CB - Not great speed according to the combine times but those have to be messed up because it looked as if all the CBs were slow.

2a. Brian Robiskie - At 6'3, he is the massive target we were looking for when we signed that bum Ernest Wilford

2b. Ron bract NT - Has all the skill sets to play NT in the 3-4.

3. Ramses Barden - At 6'6 229, he is another Big target for CP and CH. He has potential to become a WR1 in the NFl.
