TAILGATING ISSUES

Well, yesterday was Penn State's seventh home home. This season has not exactly been perfect for tailgating. The noon games have been ok, fair weather but not a lot of time to tailgate. The Iowa game- Rain. The Minnesota game- Snow, canceled tailgating, altered parking, but we dealt with it. So, yesterday was Ohio State 3:30pm start, and Great Weather!!! Time for some good tailgating. We got here early and waited in line for the gates to open. We made our way to our favorite spot. We set everything up, Canopy, tables, chairs, food, generator, music.... the same we do every week. Folks on either side have their tailgate set up to even include satellite tv powered by a generator. Everyone is enjoying a great day of fun, friends, good weather, great game in store for us all. Perfect day right? Then the Penn State campus police arrived and told everyone to turn off the generators. What? Why? Why today? everyone complied. The generators were turned off, along with the music, TV's and whatever else. When asked, why today. The answer given was "that's the rules" That was followed up with if you turn them back on you will be arrested for trespassing. What? trespassing? I believe it is time for a revision of the tailgating policies. I can idle my vehicle all day but can't run a super quiet Honda generator. Honda by the way is a Penn State Athletics sponsor. Does anyone have any information on the reason for this policy on no generators? Am I missing something? How many other people experienced this yesterday? I purchased a super quiet Honda generator because

they are made for an environment like tailgating. No noise, no problem. No one that had a generator near me bothered me. They were all being used very responsibly. No harmful exhaust fumes. No problems at all. One of the other given reasons was there are statistics on the harms of generator use. Really I was not aware of them. Do tell. I am looking for a positive way to approach the university about changing their policy on generators. Any ideas?

I had booked a trip to Miami after PSU beat OSU. My wife and I went without tickets. We arrived Wednesday afternoon and found the festivities. We ran into a large group of Oklahoma fans. I inquired about tickets to the game. When I told them we were from Penn State we were greeted with compliments of respect for Penn State and Coach Paterno. The guy we spoke to located tickets from their touchdown club within minutes. The guy with the tickets sold them to us for face value knowing he could have gotten at least $400 a piece for them. Again they were quite complimentary of our program. On the day of the game we arrived at Dolphins stadium around 530 pm. I wore my Happy Valley shirt to the game. I was insulted numerous times by the Florida fans. I watched Gator fans heavily insult the Oklahoma fans everywhere we went. I did not witness this from the Oklahoma fans. We sat in the Oklahoma upper end zone. Again we were greeted warmly by the Sooners but regularly attacked by Gators. We had a great time being there. The excitement level was near what I had hoped it would be. The game was exciting. The crowd was loud. I want to share the fact that Oklahoma fans treated us just as I would have expected Penn State to treat another teams fans. On the other hand, Florida fans were nasty, obnoxious, and actually in a way ungreatful to be in the National Championship Game. It is a shame that Oklahoma could not execute well enough to win becasue they were certainly the most deserving. It's a long way away, but I hope we can be in the game next year. Go State!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong but, I believe this the first time there has been a game played at Beaver Stadium that was for something. I know all games played mean something. There have been memorable games Nebraska, Ohio State 2005, games against Pitt, Notre Dame, LJ 2000 yards, etc.. But has Penn State ever played a game at Beaver Stadium to win a Big Ten Title? The last Big Ten Title Penn State played for was at Michigan State in 2005. before that 1994. There was not a league title to play for prior to that. I am hoping with the title on the line, this goes down as one of the greatest game atmospheres ever at Beaver Stadium! Cold or not this team deserves a record crowd, loud, racous, ass kicking crowd. What do you say? Let's Go State!!!!!

There is a strong rumor going around at PSU that Joe Paterno is announcing his retirement tomorrow and they are naming Tom Bradley the coach. Anyone have anything to match up with this? Also there is supposed to be a fly over.

I am curious if anyone else that holds a blue parking pass had any problems today? This pass...

I am curious if anyone else that holds a blue parking pass had any problems today? This pass requires an $800 donation. Which should bring a decent parking privelege for that price. Parking has been shuffled and there was little room for the number of blue passes that exist. It will only become worse for the better games. Any comments are welcome.

Anyone know if Joepa's weekly press conference is broadcast anywhere?
