for the third straight year, the pilejumper gets the award.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3773686

maybe we are all wrong about him. maybe his prowess isn't reflected by simple metrics. maybe his influence reaches far beyond half tackles, and systematically getting owned by offensive lineman.

naaaaaaaaaa....

i seriously question any college football award at this point. how any "professional" can by guilted into voting him such an honor is beyond me, and i have to logically think that the above decision making rationalle is being applied to every award in NCAA football. The Heisman, the Bednarik, etc., are all shams.

the guys over at TNL did their job:

I hate the Land Grant Trophy. I hate what it represents: a Big11 10 forced rivalry that neither team views as such.

I hate looking at it. It looks sterile. It looks like a filing cabinet. It looks like something a retarded 3rd grader put together with legos and spare parts from bowling trophies. There is no personality in this "award", as opposed to a little brown jug, paul bunyan's axe, etc.

I hate that we didn't win it last year, if only because Costenbader could have broken into the trophy case in the Lasch building to righteously smite this abomonation.

Outside of this year, the traditional matchup between us and MSU really has meant very little. I propose a few ideas that the winner receives that might at least stir up some extra emotion on Saturday:

1) Joe's glasses from the statue outside of the stadium (if MSU wins)

2) Sparty's (mascot) helmet. would look nice hanging in the stadium. In the alternative, sparty has to go an entire season without the logo on one side. the double entendre would be incredible (if psu wins)

3) The Lion's tail (if MSU wins)

4) religeous relic-a piece of joe's hipbone post-surgery (can't take credit for that-that was the nittany turkey's idea)

just brainstorming here. feel free to enter any good trophy/award ideas.
