the physics of pitching

anyone else catch the HBO "Real Sports" segment on the physics of pitching?

I think it's obvious to any human that the stress put on an arm from throwing a baseball (especially if you wear birds on the bat)  isn't natural.  (my wiffleball experience backs this!)

Former Cy Young pitcher and alleged "asshole" Mike Marshall has developed a completely different way to throw a baseball that is believed to eliminate the stress put on the arm.  It's weird to watch the delivery... not pretty.  people throw off the opposite leg and have a strange follow through.  He developed this throwing technique at michigan state and claims it's scientifically sound.  He currently is only working with people whose arms have already been destroyed, but aren't willing to give up the dream, for $20 a day.

Former cardinal Joe Magraine was interviewed and pointed out the obvious reasons why no one within the game will even comment on study.  (pitching coaches losing jobs, the Marshall dude isn't exactly easy to work with and it's hard to change a habit that has lasted for over a hundred years)

I found it interesting and if anyone knows anything else to add to this or thoughts on it, please please me.
