Daily Norseman More Favre ambiguity ?

Saw a bunch of articles on the Web today about Favre. I guess the media is still questioning him whether or not he will be back for one more season. Interestingly enough, though Favre states that he is in fact done with pro football, he also states that he still "can still throw the ball as well as I ever have." I know I'm beating on a dead horse, but I saw Favre's statement about his ability to play as another cryptic Favreism and signify that he may be open to coming back.

Daily Norseman Vikings VS. Cowboys and a look at the NFC North

I know I’m likely to get slammed by some eeyore-ish Viking fans, but coming into that 4th quarter, I really saw the Vikings offense click, and what I saw was probably the most potent NFC North  offense coming to life I think I’ve seen all season.

Poll
Are you more pumped or worried after the Vikings loss to the Jets?
Pumped, the defense is on and the offense is starting to click

Wait and see, the defense made big plays but the offense is still a question mark

Daily Norseman Don't jump ship just yet

It's a shame to be posting this only two weeks into the regular season, but lets face it, our boys haven't been playing up to par (understatement). Coming into the third week with two losses and tied with the Detroit Lions for bottom wrung of the NFC North, its understandable that fans are beginning to panic, however If Minnesota can beat the Lions next week, things might be changing up for them after their bye week.

Green Bay plays the Chicago Bears in week 3, a game which I predict Green Bay will handily take. Should the Vikings beat the Lions, and it pains me to say 'should', The Vikings will be going into their bye third in division, not so great.

However, I feel the problems the Vikings are having is not talent related but based on preparation (or lack thereof), both coaching wise and by the players in key positions. If the Vikings beat the Lions they have that going for their psyche, plus the gametime practice and a whole additional week of preparation for their fourth game.

The Bears who sit atop the division with Green Bay right now, have played two fluff games but that will change when they take on the Packers and lose (I guarantee it!) The Bears will then play an away game v.s. the NY Giants, which I see as very winnable for Manning and crew.

A Minnesota win next week, coupled with the Bears losing two in a row going into the Vikings bye, means that Minnesota will then have a chance to tie for second in division if they win against the Jets in week 5.

As far as Green Bay goes, it won't be until week five that they face a true opposing force, the Redskins (assuming they don't fall to pieces following today's loss). Miami afterward, who I think are the real deal and can run the ball all over Green Bay's lacklustre defense.

All in all, stats may say 0 and 2 starts gives a team 13% chance to get to playoff or whatever, but I'm not a determinist. Its only week two and things are far from set in stone for the season. With a win next week, I see us jumping up to number two slot by week 5, the Bears will fall out of contention shortly afterward, leaving Green Bay are only real competition.

Daily Norseman Joe Montana on Favre's return: Favre coming back, but wants to avoid training camp

http://network.yardbarker.com/author/article_external/2265353?widget=true

Joe Montana is confident that Brett Favre will return to football this season, but believes the 40-year-old quarterback is playing coy with his plans because he doesn’t want to go to training camp.

“He says he’s not sure [about playing] because he doesn’t want to go to training camp. He’s smart,” Montana said. “I’m sure he already has that agreement with them. Nine chances out of 10 they already know and they’ve already had this whole conversation and they should just let everybody know because they know he’s going to come back.

“He knows he’s going to come back, but the reason they don’t say anything is because he doesn’t want to go through training camp,” Montana said. “If he didn’t have to go through training camp, his decision would already be made, but he should know by now going to training camp isn’t going to be hard. They’d never make it hard on him.”

Seeing as how the Vikings have shown zero signs of panicking about Favre’s pending decision, I think Montana is right on the money. Favre has always disliked going to training camp, so it would make sense that he would have an agreement with the Vikings that he’d return as long as he doesn’t have to go to camp.

The Vikings haven’t made any moves yet pertaining to their quarterback situation that would suggest Favre isn’t coming back. And with Favre’s familiarity with Brad Childress’ offense, it wouldn’t take him long to get ready for the season if he skipped camp and showed up when the team started their regular practices. Personally, I think he should be in camp with his teammates, but maybe that’s just me.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think this writer has a very good insight that Childress and the rest of his staff are not concerned in the least about whether Favre decides not to come back and have made no preparations for the QB slot should he not. Are they privvy to information we don't know? Do they know he's already a lock and keeping it under wraps so that he can avoid camp?

Don't mean to beat a dead horse but I found this interesting.

Poll
Do you think Childress and Co. and Favre have already settled on his 2010 return and are keeping it under wraps?
Yes, this has been agreed on for quite some time

Daily Norseman Petition for Favre to stay one more season

Hey guys,

If you love the way Favre has played for the Vikings this season and want to show your appreciation and desire to see him to play for one more season, sign my petition. I have a goal of 10,000 signatures, hopefully we can do far better than that. Once I have received enough signatures I will send the petition to the adress where his Vikings fan mail is sent and also to management.

Many people like to belittle the talent of both the Vikings and Brett Favre, lets prove everyone wrong on both fronts and bring Favre back for his last season and our first ever super bowl win.

Here is the link for the petition:

Also, there is a cool facebook group I found which I have signed up for as well
