Niners Nation 49ers QB Alex Smith on KNBR

Fooch's Note: Thanks to pwarren85 for getting this FanPost together. I thought it was worth moving to the front page. If you want to listen to the feed go to this link and scroll down the middle of the page to recent interviews. Naturally they address all the greatest hits of the last few days including the Yahoo! Sports article and Michael Crabtree.
________________

just listened to a live interview with ralph and tom on the radio. not only did he acknowledge the issues with the playcalling (and singletary's belief in the headset) but he was very supportive of crabs-and his work ethic.

basically he supported the idea that he made mistakes, but also was firm in the fact that the first half contained alot of positive. it was a great interview, and i feel better about the team after hearing him talk. Most importantly he admitted that the offseason press had given the 9ers some false confidence and that the loss should inspire a much better game this week.

I'm gonna go look for a link, if someone else finds it, its probably worth throwing up. they definitely made him answer all the questions we've been asking on here.

Niners Nation watching the cards looks terrible

i know generally we dont have a game thread for other games, but things are looking GREAT in arizona, and by great, i mean great for us! also i love watching favre get pancaked over and over. sadly no niners coverage as to how well we played, which makes me angry at espn, but how bout them cards?!

hope everyone's week started well, just a couple more weeks till this all gets serious!

any thoughts on the trash we are watching on tv?

watching the seattle game?

on that note, im glad we'll be facing their first string offense... the 2nd stringers look much better, regardless of the defenders they are facing.

Niners Nation What caused YOU to become more than a casual fan?

I've been mulling over how to ask this, and i guess ill just use myself as example. although i grew up watching the 9ers with my dad on sundays, (he would tape the game on a vhs, and then play it to avoid commercials), i didnt follow the teams offseason moves, or passionately follow their statistics and the injury/coaching news etc that was available until much later.

However, i went to a trip overseas, and came home truly missing football. This was the year nate clements signed with the team. I haven't looked back.

i check blogs every day, often multiple times a day, my homepage is ninersnation, and my outlook on football has changed. i used to love going to the games to party and drink and yell, honestly now i would rather watch from my couch so i can re-watch plays and deconstruct whats going (thank christ for the dvr). I'm not sure if that makes me a bad fan. im just tired of the drunk idiot yelling "we want montana back" or whatever.

my question to you guys is, when did football become more than a game to you? how much attention do you pay to the team, and was there a specific event that made you pay this much attention?

dukes on the rookies

had the day off today, watching nfl network, dukes says "davis is the most pro ready tackle to come out in the draft, and has the best skill set of any drafted, iupati is unstoppable as a guard" expects the niners rookies to have "the biggest impact in the nfl" sounds good to me.

Niners Nation CFL Football Debuts on NFL Network

Fooch's Note: Thanks to pwarren85 for getting this posted. The NFL actually announced today that they'll be airing a full slate of CFL games over the course of the season via the NFL Network. Montreal and Saskatchewan was on tonight, and on July 10, they're back with Calgary at Hamilton.

CFL starts right now on nfl network, and is going to be on every thursday for a while. granted its no nfl (there are alot of different runes) unlimited offensive shifting, 120 yard field etc, but there IS some talent that comes from this league.

yeah its not the niners, or the NFL, or the preseason for that matter, but hey why not, maybe ill find a team i can follow.

I'm just glad that we get something to make this month go by a little faster
