Revenge of the Birds Report: NFL Film’s Sabol recovering from seizure

from Report: NFL Film’s Sabol recovering from seizure

NFL.com is reporting that NFL Films president Steve Sabol is in a Kansas City hospital recovering from a seizure he had Saturday night.

The 68-year-old Sabol was in Kansas City to accept an award on behalf of NFL Films when he became ill.

Sabol was taken to a hospital, underwent a series of tests over the weekend, and was awake and alert Monday.

Steve’s father, Ed, is the founder of NFL Films and was selected for induction to the Pro Football Hall of Fame last month.

Steve Sabol began working for his father in 1964. He has won multiple Emmy Awards for writing, cinematography, editing, directing and producing.

... I just wanted to give a shout out to Steve, and hope for a quick recovery ... class guy and an icon to any NFL fan

Revenge of the Birds rumors already have begun

from- http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=Aq806zQ6MhM1rQVdxabzAAxDubYF?slug=pfw-20110306_gallery_cable_reunion_rumors_already_have_begun

• Would Cardinals star WR Larry Fitzgerald(notes), who we hear wants to be assured of a much better situation under center before agreeing to a new contract, be satisfied enough with free-agent QB Marc Bulger(notes), the Ravens' backup last season, as the new QB in Arizona? "I think Bulger might satisfy Fitz, provided the Cardinals pay him a boatload," one team insider said of the former Rams starter who is considered the front-runner among possible QB candidates via free agency or trade. "He likes (Cardinals head coach Ken) Whisenhunt. But Fitz is a hard guy to read. He knows how to turn on the charm and answer questions. It's hard to find out what he's really thinking."

... there is the extent of it, anyone care to read between the lines?

Revenge of the Birds Arizona Judge gives 7 year old right to decide custody.

A seven year old boy was at the center of a county courtroom drama
yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy had a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulation requiring that family unity be maintained to the highest degree possible. The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried and said that they also beat him. After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him. After two recesses to check legal references and confer with the child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the Arizona Cardinals, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.

Bright Side Of The Sun Derick Fisher ... Accident?

The only success the Lakers had stopping Stoudemire came when Derek Fisher fouled him with a slap in the face, causing a gash atop his nose after his protective goggles cut him.

Steve Nash had 17 points and 15 assists—before taking yet another postseason hit on his already battered face

Quote To Note:   “I don’t think I broke it. I think I rearranged it. Obviously there’s a dent and it’s bent. I think I whacked the cartilage out of place but I tried to push it back into place so it’s not as bent now but it’s still nicely curved.”—Phoenix guard Steve Nash, on his nose-to-shoulder collision with Derek Fisher in the final minute of Game 3.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Phoenix Suns forward Amar’e Stoudemire’s mother was arrested on Saturday and faces charges including speeding and operating a vehicle without a court-ordered ignition interlock device.

Scottsdale police say an officer conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a black Lincoln Navigator near 116th Street and Shea Boulevard at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Saturday.

The officer identified the woman as Carrie Mae Stoudemire, 54. Stoudemire's driver’s license stated that her vehicle was required to have an interlock device.

Stoudemire told the officer she did not need one on all the vehicles and that she had it on one of her cars. Police say Stoudemire's eyes appeared “watery and glassy.”

Stoudemire's driver’s license was valid, but the interlock device requirement was effective until Oct. 30. She was put in handcuffs and placed in the back of a patrol car.

A few minutes later two men arrived at the scene. Officers identified one man as Amar’e Stoudemire. Officers told the men to leave the area because their presence was causing Carrie Mae to "act out" as she yelled from the patrol car, “Amar’e get a lawyer!”

The Phoenix Suns forward and the other man left the scene.

Carrie Mae was booked into a Scottsdale jail and later released by detention staff. She faces charges including operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock device, speeding and failure to drive in a single lane.

Arizona Official Threatens to Cut Off Los Angeles Power as Payback for Boycott

By Judson Berger

 - FOXNews.com

A member of Arizona's top government utilities agency threw down the gauntlet in a letter to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, threatening to cut off the city's power supply as retribution for the city's boycott of Arizona.

If Los Angeles wants to boycott Arizona, it had better get used to reading by candlelight.

That's the message from a member of Arizona's top government utilities agency, who threw down the gauntlet Tuesday in a letter to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa by threatening to cut off the city's power supply as retribution.

Gary Pierce, a commissioner on the five-member Arizona Corporation Commission, wrote the letter in response to the Los Angeles City Council's decision last week to boycott the Grand Canyon State -- in protest of its immigration law -- by suspending official travel there and ending future contracts with state businesses.

Noting that a quarter of Los Angeles' electricity comes from Arizona power plants, Pierce threatened to pull the plug if the City Council does not reconsider.

"Doggone it -- if you're going to boycott this candy store ... then don't come in for any of it," Pierce told FoxNews.com.

... I say, if the Suns are getting blown out again tonight we shut off the power at half time :)

Bright Side Of The Sun How many times will Fisher flop

... on Nash? ... or whomever is close to him

“He’s a great passer, a great penetrator, great shooter,” Bryant said. “They surrounded him with guys that complement him and feed off him, and they’re a great offensive team.”

Yet as the stars’ battered bodies attest, sometimes playoff success is due simply to outworking, outmuscling and outlasting opponents. Los Angeles has held teams to 41 percent shooting in the postseason, while smallish Phoenix has outrebounded its playoff foes while outscoring them by nearly 10 points per game.

Lakers coach Phil Jackson already teased Nash for carrying the ball, but carrying momentum is much tougher following a full week off. Although the Lakers and Phoenix both swept their second-round opponents and won six straight playoff games overall, neither expects to ride last week’s wave into Staples Center.

“With this break, we’re back to Square One now,” Lakers point guard Derek Fisher(notes) said. “To empty that jar out and then fill it back up is not easy, but we have to be prepared to do that.”

Revenge of the Birds Speeding Tickets

Both AD and Bernard Berrian ... AD doing 109 on hwy 62 in Minneapolis, and Berrian doing 104 in a 60

No crack pipe or pot in the car? No hooker who got raped? No gay lover? No dead bodies in the trunk? No psycho wife throwing golf clubs? No steroids or Whizzinator?

Just a regular old speeding ticket, what kinda sh!t is that ... I know he at least had some Hennessy in the car

... I think one or both should be suspended for a least one game, and preferably this week ... lol

Revenge of the Birds Will the roof be open Sunday night?

Does anyone know if the roof will be open or closed?

We all know (most of us from personal experience) that coming from MN to AZ in the winter makes 60 degrees in the Valley feel warm ... and for those of us who live in the valley, 60 is f#@kin freezing.

So its doubtful, even if the roof is open, that they will be cold ... but the Vikes are a dome team ... and its a dry cold.

Revenge of the Birds Nothing this week about Haley?

You guys are slippin'

idk about any of you but it was great to see Haley upset the steelers last weekend, and it felt like a little bit of redemption to me.

personally, I think we should set up a separate blog so the USC fans and the Waner fans can have this ridicules argument (Warner is the one guy we cannot lose), and the rest of us can get back to talking about the Cards and the rest of the NFL ... the 'real' NFL season starts after thnx-giving, and were about to find out who are the men, and who are the boys

Ps. Warner = man ... Leinart = boy

Revenge of the Birds Warner - Fitz issues brewing?

Did anyone catch this article about Marcus Ftiz (Larry's younger brother)

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/09/28/marcus-fitzgerald-gets-more-attention-than-he-ever-wanted/

Marcus Fitzgerald gets more attention than he ever wanted Posted by Mike Florio on September 28, 2009 12:28 AM ET

Though destined not to have the same kind of football career as his big brother, California Redwoods (of the UFL) receiver Marcus Fitzgerald has gotten plenty of attention this week, thanks to a series of inflammatory tweets he posted on September 20, during and after the Cardinals' 31-17 win over the Jaguars.

His misadventures with the popular Twitter service were discussed by ESPN's Chris Mortensen during Sunday NFL Countdown, and they were mentioned on multiple occasions during the NBC Sunday night coverage.

But while everyone seems to accept the fact that the comments from Marcus do not hint at a problem between Larry and Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner, a couple of unanswered questions remain.

Did Larry send Marcus a text during halftime of the game indicating that Larry was frustrated?

Did Larry call Marcus after the game and indicate that the Arizona wideout was "pissed" about the lack of balls thrown his way, notwithstanding the 14-point win?

It's one thing for Marcus to have been joking (and, if he was, we're still trying to find the punch line).  It's another thing for Marcus to flat-out lie about communications with his brother that didn't occur.

To date, there's been no indication that it was a lie.  And so there's no reason to think that Fitzgerald wasn't frustrated.

And, based on Sunday night's ugly home loss to the Colts, there's no reason to think Fitzgerald isn't frustrated now.

For the season, Fitzgerald has 17 catches for 181 yards and two scores.  That projects to 90 receptions for 965 yards and 11 touchdowns.

For an ordinary receiver, those numbers are great.  For a great receiver, those numbers are ordinary.

So, regardless of whether he said so last week, how can Fitzgerald not be frustrated?

Revenge of the Birds Things I've noticed (so far)

NFC west teams aren't very good ... and we probably have to admit that to ourselves, and take some of the criticism

AZ Cards - I never would have guessed we'd miss Haley so much, but this years team has yet to find an identity, this is not the team that went on that playoff run, and our margin for error is zero ... one mistake on O or D and we're playing catchup (not that I noticed a game plan) ... No Wells after Miami ran all over Indy, i don't get it?

SF 49ers - I can't wait to hear someone say "But the 9ers should have beaten MN and be 3-0" ... maybe so, but the 9ers were pathetic for 3 quarters and then MN tried to hand them the game in the fourth ... SF was 0 for 10 on third down on offense and they were gashed by MN on D ... Singletary has this team playing out of their head, and deserves credit, but again, the margin for error is zero, and they won't beat any good teams

Seachickens - They came to play and still couldn't get it done at home/ not going anywhere without Hasslebeck ... Still, this is a better team than SF and should challenge for the division

SL Rams - Worst team in football

this division is totally up for grabs ... and we have to watch some pretty ugly football to see who wins it

Also -

Teams that are very good ..

The Jets, Baltimore in the AFC

The Giants, Saints in the NFC
