WARNING!! This might make you depressed

The Diary about the Augusta Giants, got me thinking. Since it looks like we might have some great prospects their (Villalona, Noonan, etc), how fast should the Giants move these kids along.

Its slow today at work, so I looked at some past how high profile prospects from the 90's , that of couse never panned out.

Calvin Murray 1st round pick(7th overall) 1992

AGE 21 (A+):345AB's 9 HR's,42 RBI, .281/.356, .791 OPS
(AA): 138 AB's , 0 , 6 , .188/.263 , .495

AGE 22 (AA): 2 , 35 , .231/.300 , .604

AGE 23 (AA):441 AB's 2 , 29 , .236/.326 , .628
      (AAA):50 AB's , 4 ,10 , .180/.241 , .681

Age 24 (AA):169 AB's ,7 , 24 , .260/.356 , .782
      (AAA):311 , 3 , 28 , .244/.326 , .699

AGE 25 (AA): 10 , 56 , .272/.371 , .789

AGE 26 (AA) : 337 AB, 8 , 39 , .309/.410, .885
      (AAA) : 90 , 3 ,5 , .233 , .324 , .713

AGE 27 (AAA) : 23 , 73 , .334 , .389 , .931

Got a callup that year, played a little in 2000, and was gone a year later.

Dante Powell: 1st round 1994(22nd overall)

AGE 20 (A-): 5 HR's, 25 BI's, .305/.380 ,.883 OPS

Age 21 (A+): 10 , 70 , .248/.310, .698 OPS

Age 22 (AA): 21 , 78 , .280/.369 , .834 OPS

Age 23 (AAA): 11 , 42 , .241/.319 , .704 OPS

Age 24 (AAA): 14 , 52 , .230/.335 , .710 OPS

Good first year, then moved up, lousy at high Aball but still moved up, great at AA, then falls off and traded after 98 season.

Jay Canizaro 4th round 1993

Age 20 (A+): 15 , 69 , .252/.320 ,.712 OPS

Age 21 (AA): 12 , 60 , .293/.376 , .840 OPS

AGE 22 (AAA): 7 , 64 , .262/.345 , .733

AGE 23 (AA): 176 AB, 11 , 38 , .256/.351 , .845
      (AAA): 81 , 2 , 12 , .198/278 , .636

AGE 24(AA) : 281 AB, 12 , 32 , .224/.347, .731
     (AAA) : 106 , 6 , 14 , .226/.333, .824

AGE 25 (AAA): 26 , 78 , .280/.366 , .926

Released after the season, never paned out.

Basically it looks like to me that the Giants tried to fast track these guys, even when they had a bad season, they where promoted, then jerked them around when they couldn't produce at AAA. I notice similarities with Jacob Cruz and JR Phillips.

So Im thinking should the Giants be more patient with our young kids like Noonan, Villalona, Fairley ,etc. Or is their going to be to much pressure to fast track them. Personally I would loved to see them get fast tracked, but not at the expense of their development.

Sorry guys, board with all the talk of all the moves our idiot Gm is not making.

But I need some help here. I love to read , but have ran out of material to read. My two favorite authors are Micheal Crichton and Stephen King. The following books are some of my favorites from them.

Crichton: Jurrasic Park, Sate of Fear, Timeline, The Lost World, The Andromedia Strain, Prey, Airframe.

King: It , The Stand, Dark Tower Series 1-7

My all time favorite story is The Dark Tower by Stephen King. Its a long read, 7 books but is well worth it. Sort of Fantasy, not what you would expect out of King.

I enjoy Crichton becasue he is great at suspense, and as I read I feel as I am also learning something new(nano tecnology, DNA Cloning, Global Warming theorey, Airplane enginering)in every book.

I am also sort of a Star Wars geek , I have read a lot of the Timothy Zahn books, etc. And growing up my favorite books where Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn, and The Oddssey by Homer.

So basically I wanted to give you guys a example of what I enjoy reading. So I ask, does anybody have any good novels, stories, authors they can recomend to me?

The Mitchell Report....Could be a great day for Giants fans.

According to the rumors. George Mitchell's report on steriods and baseball is due out this week, and this Giants fan can't wait to see it.

For years now, I as a giants fan have been mocked by fans of other teams and the media because I supported Bonds. They called us blind sheep for cheering the man that was hitting so many HR's to help our team win games. Basically 756 should have been one of the greatest things I have witnessed in my life, but everytime I felt joy for this historic moment the media tried to make me feel guilty of my joy. They wrote hatefull after hatefull articles chastising Bonds, the fans and the city of San Francisco for enjoying our great moment.

I frequent other message boards, CBS and ESPN and have on many occasions have gotten into heated arguments trying to defend Barry as the morons just spew the hatred feed to them by the media. So when this report comes out, I hope I see a lot of familiar names in their. And then I can't wait for the hypocrites to try and back track on everything they said.

You see its easy to hate a man not on your team. Especially when the media has tried for 15 years to make the guy out to be a jerk. But if we see names like Pujols, Ortiz, Ramirez, etc. What will fans of those teams say.Honestly this fan can't wait to see. Cuz if I am right we will find out that steriods are much more rampant in baseball then just one man.
