Lone Star Ball I believe

That game last night? Eff it. Who cares. Don't forget - these are the effing dudes who battled their arse of to win the second best baseball game I've ever seen in game 5. They came from behind (twss), and effing nutted up and won us that game. They earned us the right to forget about last night.

Let me tell you why this team is the best team in baseball. This team is the best team in baseball b/c of their unparalleled ability to let a game go the moment they leave the ballpark and focus on the next game. This team doesn't give a sh*t about last night. They have the shortest term memory in the history of baseball. They are as professional of a group of baseball players as I have ever seen, and they are going to come out and win a baseball game tonight.

I mothereffing believe with every ounce of my being.

Lone Star Ball Chuck Greenberg on with Norm at 11:30!

They just announced that Chuck will be on 1310, 104.1 or www.theticket.com (in case you've been living under a rock for the past 15+ years). Thought I'd give everyone a heads up.

How will you denote Opening Day on your social networking page? What will you say on Facebook? What will you say on Twitter?

For me?

Lone Star Ball Eff fanshots, this is the greatst video in the history of North Texas sports...

This could be the greatest thing I have ever seen. So much hilariousness, so awful, but yet so wonderful. I don't know what the hell it has to do with the Super Bowl, but this video is sheer, unadulterated, gold. GOLD I tell you!

Who is your favorite? There's a poll below, although I think Romo is clearly the best. And can someone please tell Ian he needs to lose some weight?

This video is amazing.

*UPDATE*

I was thinking, this is basically a collection of the biggest names in North Texas sports alive today. Who's not in here singing This Kiss that should be? Who would you add? The two missing that jump to my mind are Troy Aikman and Modano. I'm sure they were probably asked but just couldn't/wouldn't for whatever reason. Personally, and I admit, I am biased, I think Mike Rhyner should be in here. I think he (and his brainchild) has changed the face of the DFW sports landscape. At the very least he's way more influential than Scott Murray.

Lone Star Ball Rangers Roundtable at 5:50 on the Hardline: E.G., Baseball Jesus, others to participate

Just thought I'd give a heads up for those of you who may be interested. Evan Grant, as well as "other baseball writers" are supposed to join Rhynes and The Cobra, although I'm not really sure who "other baseball writers" are.

I will keep my ears listening to Ticket, will you?

Lone Star Ball Inside Corner is no longer.

No link, Sturm just announced it on Ask Sports Sturm. It's still up as of now with no announcement. Basically it comes down to the fact that the ESPN blog came to town, and the sponsorship from Dr. Pepper runs out at the end of October.

Kinda sucks, kinda doesn't. We'll still get plenty o' Sturm and E.G.

Lone Star Ball Ian Kinsler calls out the fans on the Bob and Dan show

Well, the gauntlet has been thrown, Ian has called the fans out on the mat. For those of you that weren't able to listen, basically, his sentiment was, the fans will come out for NYY, and BOS, but those games don't really mean anything, it's the within the division games that will make or break this team. Bob straight up asked him if the attendance (or lack thereof) is a concern, and Ian admitted it was. He said it wasn't that they needed the fans to help carry them, but that it gives them more energy to look up and see a packed stadium. (And I for one, completely buy that). One of them asked if part of the reason for the lack of attendance was the previous Decade of Mediocrity (Ha). Ian said he didn't buy that; he said that he thinks that the fans should be excited to come out and watch meaningful division games late in the season with the playoffs on the line, regardless of what has happened in the past.

My dream, as an avid Ranger fan, one who bleeds red--oh, wait--is to do anything I can to help this team win. Frequently, that dream manifests itself in me going up for a foul ball against Arod on the first row of the third base line and ripping it it out of his glove giving Kins another strike to put one 10 rows up and give the Rangers a walk-off-win. But, barring me running into a lot of cash and the perfect alignment of the stars, I'm probably not going to be able to have that much of a direct impact on the game.

What I can do, is go. Go sit in the stadium. Fill one more seat up. Take some friends. Help give my boys the extra energy Ian was talking about. So, that's what I'm going to do. As frequently as possible until this thing is decided.

I'd encourage every last one of you to do the same.

Lone Star Ball Rangers on 30 Clubs in 30 Days MLB Network Tomorrow (3/18)

For those of you that have been waiting for this, just saw that it will be on tomorrow. Hope it hasn't been posted before, searched 30 in 30, etc.  5:30 eastern, I think.

Now I have to think of some stuff to get me to the 75 word limit. Hope the U S A comes back to win this game against Puerto Rico. Victrino just stuck his butt out and let that throw from right field hit him.

OK, I'm here watching this...Guess we can treat this like a game day thread.

Lone Star Ball The George Brett shits himself story

I'm not sure if this has been posted before; I searched for it but didn't find it. This may be penalty box worthy if it's totally old news, but I hadn't seen it until the other day, so I figure some of you might not have seen it either.

This is seriously one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

Lone Star Ball OT: What's going on with Bob-less BAD Radio?

Has anyone else been listening to the entire show today? I missed the beginning of the show...did they say anything about where Bob is?

I'm getting a little worried. At one point they were coming back from break and Dan said "Bob" and then stopped himself and said "Oh wait, get that, dump that" and Grubes was like "I got it" (even though they didn't actually dump it 'cause you heard Dan say Bob's name. Then, just now Dan was about to say "With Bob not here anymore...." and stopped himself and said something like 'with the other guy not here today..blah blah blah"

Anyway, I could just be being paranoid, and this may be no big deal, but I might jump off the High 5 if Bob were to ever leave the Ticket and/or BaD Radio.

Did anyone else notice this? Does anyone have any input?

Lone Star Ball Milton Bradley and bat throwing

I'm not sure if this has been discussed elsewhere, but M.B.'s bat throwing is getting ridiculous. It seems like a bat goes flying out of his hands nearly once a game, and  it finally did some damage-after a rip and a miss last night the bat went twirling into the 4th row and some fan wore it in the face bad enough that an Angels player had to throw a towel into the stands to help get the bleeding stopped. (I was at the game so I don't know how much Josh and Tom talked about it.) I obviously haven't watched the other teams as much as I've watched the Rangers, but I'd be willing to bet no one else in baseball comes anywhere close to throwing the bat as much as he does. What happens when he kills somebody? What would happen if baseball instituted a rule where so many bat flings led to a penalty of some sort--a fine or a 1 game suspension or something? (not really sure how I feel about that, just a thought)

Lone Star Ball OT: NCAA pick'em advice sites

Last year was my first year to do it, and I had a good time. I did a little research last year--yahoo, espn, sports illustrated, but that was about it. Anyone have recommendations of other credible, knowledgable people/sites offering (free) advice on match-ups to help me create my bracket?

In order to make the 300 character limit...ok you gurus...anyone willing to reveal their good early upsets?

Lone Star Ball OT: Mavericks vs. Heat -29 to 6--2:42 in the first

What's more impressive...jumping out to a 23 point lead, or the Heat only scoring 6 points with now 2:42 left in the first?

Hello there how are you today the Mavericks are going to win it all I don't really believe that this is just to meet the minimum

Lone Star Ball Holy crap! I'm going to Surprise!

One of my buddies got laid off, another one wanted to do something cool for his 30th birthday, and I was so tired of my dissertation I was about to explode--so I threw the idea out there, and all of a sudden our tickets are booked to Phoenix. Leaving next Thursdy returning Monday. I've never been, and really have no idea what to expect.

Any advice or recommendations--things to be sure see/do (especially cool on the field stuff I need to be sure and catch), in addition to anything non-baseball related (stuff to do in Phoenix) is greatly appreciated...

Additional relevant info--we're all single, right at 30, don't have a ton of money, going to want to do our fair share of drinking, and would prefer to do it where members of the opposite sex are likely to congregate. To that end, we're staying at the Embassy Suites right next to the ASU campus in Tempe. I know, it's on the other side of the city from Surprise, but we weighed the options, we're right where we need to be.

Here are a few of my specific questions...
*Is there some type of practice activity going on basically all day/every day?
*What are the best times to be there? Worst?
*Do I have to pay to get in?
*Is it basically just practice that's open to the public?
*Do they sell beer?
*How much time will I be able to spend watching the big boys as opposed to ScrubA, ScrubB, and ScrubC?
*Are the players more accessible (for pictures, etc?)

Lone Star Ball OT--major announcement on 1310 tomorrow at 11:10

Whoever is doing afternoon drive this week said that it's going to be about the HL and what will become of them.

While Greggo is/was one of the biggest idiots on the planet, it is kind of sad to see the end of an era--the Hardline had pretty damn good run.

Thoughts as to what afternoon drive is going to look like going forward? I actually hope they bring someone completely new in who's really got something, and we just have to get used to them. All the other 2nd rate personalities (Rich Phillips, Ben & Skin, etc.) on The Ticket have already been labeled in our minds as spares.

Lone Star Ball OT -- jet ski accident at Lewisville Lake

Did anyone see this?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPOnDMEzKpk

a.) jet skis are death machines.
b.) how big of an idiot is the dude piloting this thing?
c.) all that being said, it does look like a blast.

Am I close to 300 characters? Apparently not, hopefully by adding this sentence I will get over the 30-0 character minimum.

Lone Star Ball OT baseball books

I've read Men at Work by George Will, and Moneyball. I'm about ready to start in on another baseball book. Does anyone have any suggestions/thoughts on good/bad baseball books?

Books are good, books are great. Porn is bad.

I'm leaving to go to the game here in just a bit. I grew up with Cubs reliever Rocky Cherry

Lone Star Ball For a Rangers World Series title I'd....

Don't know if anyone has done anything like this before, but the fact that Nightengale predicted the Rangers would win the whole schebang got me thinking...what would you be willing to do if it would guarnantee the Rangers a World Series?

For example, I'd be willing to get the "T" logo tattoo if it would guarantee a W.S.
