Pioli: Chiefs still want to bring back Carr after signing of Routt
NFL.com giving a head nod to Arrowheadpride...
"The signing of Stanford Routt does not impact where we're at with Brandon Carr," Pioli said, via Arrowheadpride.com. "As a matter of fact, Romeo (Crennel) and I both reached out to Brandon yesterday as this was unfolding and talked to him

Observations of The Worst Offensive Lines in 2011
A while ago I had broken down into a system to look at the best offensive lines in 2011 (Located HERE). This was used in comparison to where we compare in these stats that I compiled . So now I want to take a look at the worst passing offensive lines and figure out who the arguably are the worst passing teams are and what the average draft position is for each team. In this research I will break down the statistics of each of these teams and the positions as a whole to help us better understand how a line should not be put together (At least theoretically).
Again, the weakness in this study will be that I’m only doing this for this year (as it will take plenty of time to put just one year together. Maybe if I decide to do this year after year, or go backwards to study, this will become a stronger study). There are other variables such as elite quarterbacks that will skew statistics. For this reason I am taking only the bottom 11 passing offenses (the Chiefs were in the bottom). I would like us to not have one of the worst passing offenses in f every aspect of the game. So I think looking at the bottom 10 passing offense would be a good next step. Taking the bottom 10 passing offenses also helps equalize variability by having an elite QB. A variable that could also skew these numbers is injuries to the offensive line.
The offensive lines that I broke down are the Jaguars, Broncos, Browns, Dolphins, Rams, 49ers, Vikings, Colts, Bears, and Seahawks. (Worst is subjective terminology, but I went with the consistent worst stats in passing categories). I chose this route because if the big guys are doing their job up front then the other members on the team have the best chance of creating these stats (again subjective). If the guys up front aren't doing their job then we have guys flat passing stats.
There were four main categories that I wanted to observe to identify how these teams built their respective offensive lines. The first two categories go hand in hand -- round and draft spot. This will help identify when these players were drafted. The draft number is used to help pinpoint the position in the round that would be best to develop a player at a specific position. I used the category ‘Drafted by’ to help determine whether the players are developed in house, or if they were free agents. The numbers closest to one mean they were more consistently free agents. The numbers closer to 0 mean they were more consistently developed in house. The last category is the amount of NFL experience. I suspect that the amount of experience that is on the line will help tell a story about the other statistics.
So let us begin:

Observations Of The Best Offensive Lines In 2011
I want to take a look at the best passing offensive lines and figure out who the best teams are and what the average draft position is for each team. This comparison will come from starting players to depth in an attempt to break down how some of the best players in the game are added to the best offensive lines. In this research I will break down the statistics of each of these teams and the positions as a whole to help us better understand how a line can be put together.
So this isn't a, 'Hey lets grab the best guy out there' post, but a different strategy by looking at how and where elite teams have addressed their needs.
The weakness in this study will be that I’m only doing this for this year (as it will take plenty of time to put just one year together. I hope that Orton remembers this for the rest of the season...
Lest us not forget that Tebow has better stats than Elway, and 'obviously' will surmount Elway as the best QB Denver ever saw.
"Jets fan savagely beaten on his own turf by a drunken gang"
Jets fan severely beaten after Chiefs loss in New Jersey.
"The lifelong Jet fan suffered a fractured jaw, cheekbone and eye socket, and also has bleeding on the brain."
I know that it has been hard to be a Chiefs fan, but WOW taking a loss to this level is unacceptable!

What We Know About The CBA And How It Affects The Chiefs
Reviewing all the CBA stuff in the owners proposal myself. Good run down here. -Joel
I'm a bit bored and wanted to take a peak at how the leaked information could effect the Kansas City Chiefs.
Revenue Split
Players receive 47 to 48 percent of revenues, less than the roughly 50-50 split in the previous deal.
Unlike the previous CBA , where $1 billion was skimmed off the top, the new revenue model is supposedly based upon all revenue. This is to occur after this season is completed. Owners will receive approximately 52% and players 48%. There are provisions for the owners to have a higher percentage in the event of certain revenue targets are not met. Over a 10 year period the players percentage should not be below 47%. This seems to benefit the owners if over the next few seasons the economy continues to sink and they need extra money for operating expense and such. The downside is that they will be required to supplement the players when profits increase.
Next season, In 2012, the players will receive, 55% of national media revenue, 45% of NFL Ventures revenue, and 40% of local team revenue.
The positive for the owners is if that spend on stadium investment they will receive a credit of up to 1.5% of revenue each year. Arrowhead recently had a major overhaul done to it... so it might be a few years until this comes back to help the taxpayers in Kansas City. Clark can make minor renovations to Arrowhead and still recoup some of the losses that are occur making small investments into the stadium.
The owners forged change in the system seeking a change in the splitting of a net revenue share of 50/50, Owners initially offered $1 billion less, but it appears that the final deal will result in approximately $200 million in positive change for them. This number could drastically increase in number depending on how the NFL grows. This was the owners’ top priority seeking to extract significant monies, as well as a credit for stadium spending.

Its time to get our Big Sal!
Dan Saleaumua came out of Arizona State as a defensive end and tackle. He was drafted in the 7th round with the 175th of the 1987 draft by the Detroit Lions and played there for two years. For the Detroit Lions he recorded four sacks over this time as a nose tackle. Detroit had doubled down on nose tackles that year and had decided to go with Jerry Ball as the starting nose tackle, releasing Dan Saleaumua from the team. The Chiefs ended up bringing Big Sal onto the team in 1989 (the same year Derrick Thomas was drafted). So could Jerrell Powe be our Big Sal?

Arrowheadpride Mock Draft 2011
Last year in our 2 round draft I selected Maurkice Pouncey, and Sean Lee. Maurkice Pouncey was selected 18th overall by the Pittsburg Steelers and proceeded to have a Pro Bowl year. I'm not sure if this was why the Vikings decided to trade back with the Lions. Sean Lee was picked up right before the Viking's pick with Dallas's pick at #55. He did have some nagging injuries in the offseason limiting his play. Towards the end of the season he came on strong as he intercepted Peyton Manning twice... one of which was for a touchdown.
No trades or FA's will be used in the mock draft. More after the jump... and I will be selecting this upcoming Monday.
NFL and players appear to have reached the precipice Read more: http://www.kansascity.com/2011/03/10/2716091/nfl-and-players-appear-to-have.html#ixzz1GHDeTCgm
The NFL would then have to resume normal business operations under rules it determines to be appropriate. In all likelihood, the system would be similar to the one used last year, where there was no salary cap, and unrestricted free-agency would be granted to players with at least six years experience. The free-agency signing period could begin as soon as next week. If no injunction is granted or the NFL wins on appeal, the league would then cease operations.
Heading to Kansas City...
So here in about 4 hours I'll be jumping into the car and screeching out of the parking lot on my way to Kansas City. I should be arriving around midnight tonight and was wondering what was going on this weekend. Are there any special Chiefs oriented events on Sat?
Also where are people planing on meeting up on Sunday before the game? I'd absolutely love to meetup with a few of you fellow AP'ers while I'm in town.
Pioli and Haley pour the foundation.
Chiefs TE Brad Cottam on playing football again after suffering a broken neck: "If I thought there was any increased chance of something bad happening because of the injury, I would not have come back. They tell me I'll be able to play without any more concerns than normal. As long as that's the case, I'll be on the field."
Chiefs DE Tyson Jackson on improving on his rookie season of 31 tackles and no sacks in 16 games: "I can tell from just the first few OTAs, I understand the game more. The fundmentals are stronger. Everything is starting to slow down for me. I should be a very productive player this year."
With The 62nd Pick In The Arrowhead Pride Mock Draft, The Minnesota Vikings Select...
Just to keep you guys in the loop...
Maurkice Pouncey, and Sean Lee... that makes for a pretty good draft right there.
ArrowheadPride Mock Draft... The vikings are up!
Who would your pick be?
With The 30th Pick in the Arrowhead Pride Mock Draft, the Minnesota Vikings Select...
There are plenty of positions that need to be filled on the Minnesota Vikings to push them over the edge into their first Super Bowl win. The first question that needs to be answered is Brett Farve coming back, or will he retire again. Riding on Farve's arm the Vikings were 2nd in points...yet it was also this arm that threw a crucial interception when all they needed to do was run the ball and get it close enough for a field goal. The only person from the backfield that is missing is Chester Taylor.
The Vikings arguably have the best running back in the game in Adrian Peterson, yet why did the Vikings running game struggle so badly. On reason is because of an increased focus on the passing game. The Vikings went from the 25th most effective passing game to the 8th most productive. The addition of offensive Rookie of the Year, Percy Harvin also helped. Bernard Berrian, Sidney Rice, and Visanthe Shiancoe are all receiving threats so they are stacked at Wide Receiver and Tight End.
The holes in offense appear to be in the offensive line. Specifically the center and guard positions. John Sullivan has been sub-par, as has right guard Anthony Herrera. If Farve is to come back he will want these positions solidified, and the only way it appears this is going to happen is from the draft.
On the defensive side of the ball lets start off with the defensive line. This has to be the Vikings strongest areas as they have Jared Allen, Ray Edwards, Pat, and Kevin Williams creating a huge wall up front. This wall allowed an average of 87 yards rushing (2nd in the NFL). One could argue that Pat Williams isn't going to be around for much longer, but for value, and best player available no DT really strikes my fancy, especially when one in the later rounds can be groomed by these 2 studs in the middle.
The linebackers are average at best, but a solid middle linebacker in the middle could make the linebackers look stellar. The same could be said about the defensive backfield... no real shutdown corner or safety's can be found on the team. Yet this team came up 19th with an average of 218.4 passing yards per game. The Vikings do have some talented QB's to face twice each year, Jay Cutler, Aaron Rodgers, and Matt Stafford. This means that the defensive backs should get a major upgrade in the offseason.
Chargers not interested in Thomas Jones or any other FA RB.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the Chargers have no interest in any free agent running back currently available.
San Diego would've been Thomas Jones' ideal landing spot from a fantasy perspective, but GM A.J. Smith doesn't want him. By not at least pursuing a short-term stopgap, Smith appears to be limiting his options in the draft. The Bolts will have to use a first- or second-round selection on a tailback.
Wade Smith heading to the Texans
Joel got a big nod in this article about Wade Smith heading to the Texans.
Stats to backup that we need a solid 3rd down WR.
his fanpost is for the most part a test to make sure everything turns out properly with a more in depth look out what we have to work with in our offense.
The 2008 season we had Tony Gonzalez as our go to guy on 3rd down, and I believe that in order to be successful we need someone that we can count upon to hold onto the ball, and make plays on 3rd down. This is what will keep drives alive that died off quickly.
Some Graphs to check out after the jump.

Eagles not planing on signing Runyan
According to Bob Brookover of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Eagles are reportedly so impressed with right tackle Winston Justice's play that they do not feel the need to sign free agent Jon Runyan at this point.
(hopefully I did this correctly)
Tyson Jackson in River Falls?
This is my first fan post but figured I would get this out there.
KANSAS CITY, MO - FOX 4 Sports has learned that Chiefs' first round draft pick Tyson Jackson boarded a plane at 6 a.m. Friday morning en route to River Falls, Wisconsin and the Chiefs training camp to sign his contract. The contract will be worth more than $50 million over five years and more than $29 million guaranteed.
