Peyton Manning's perfect fit: The Baltimore Ravens?

I don't doubt t how successful he would b here, but the dismissal of Joe Flacco in this article is just insulting.

Baltimore Beat Down I love that we play the Chargers this week.

The Baltimore Ravens have performed fairly well this season. If you told me at the beginning of the year that we'd be at 10-3 at this point of the season, I think most Ravens fans would take it. Sure the losses came to unexpected teams but that is why the season is played; Every team wins a few games they shouldn't and loses some games they should have won (unless you're the Green Bay Packers).

The current four game win streak this team has been riding has been against teams that have allowed the Ravens to play the smash mouth football they thrive in. Cincinnati, and Cleveland were two divisional opponents the Ravens knew very well. San Francisco, like the Ravens, want to pound the football and play great Defense. Indianapolis is just.. well Indianapolis.

The Chargers come at the perfect time as the only team left on the regular season schedule that are capable of giving the Ravens a sample of what a high powered offense can do.

Baltimore Beat Down Let's make Ray Rice a beast in Madden!

EA Sports and ESPN have combined to start a new competition called Club100. For 5 different positions, someone will be given the coveted "100" overall rating for a certain attribute. Yesterday, voting was open for QB accuracy, with Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Philip Rivers and Drew Brees up for the title. Tuesday (today's) August 23rd's vote is for the running back that can be named the most elusive back in the game.

Ray Rice is one of the backs up for debate. LETS GET HIM A 100 RATING!

Baltimore Beat Down Nnamdi Asomugha will likely be a Texan

It is rumored on ESPN.com that Nnamdi Asomugha will most likely be headed to the Houston Texans, simply because they are able to offer him more money than any other team out there: 14-15 million a year.

UPDATE VII: Michael Lombardi of NFL Network is reporting that the Houston Texans are the new leaders in the Nnamdi Asomugha sweepstakes, and the reason is money -- he says they're offering him $12 to $15 million a year. For comparison, the Jets are paying Darrelle Revis $11.5 million a ye

Baltimore Beat Down Season's predictions

While checking my mail, i saw an interesting article on Playoff predictions and projections. It predicts wins and losses for each team as well as their route through the playoffs. Although i think the system is really flawed, it's definitley worth looking at.

Baltimore Beat Down So much for a Secondary problem

Seems like Yahoo noticed we weren't too happy being labled the eleventh best linebacking corp in the nfl. How would they make it up to us? On sunday they posted their DB rankings and gave us a very generous spot.

Baltimore Beat Down It's About Time!

Every year, us football fans get in line at midnight, to buy the latest copy of Madden and are thoroughly disapointed when we pop the game in for the first time, select our beloved ravens and see the injustice, a mediocre rating. I know i was excited and satisfied to see that the Baltimore Ravens are ranked the third best team on Madden this year 90 Overall) behind the Saints (92) and the Colts (91). The Steelers are ranked an 84 overall, third in the AFC north. Check out the complete list by clicking on the link below the jump.

Baltimore Beat Down T.O. a Raven?

Baltimore Beat Down How do you guys feel about Cromartie?

I just saw on ESPN that The Chargers are in the market for a RB and are shopping CB Antonio Cromartie. I know some of you guys might think that hhis 10 int season a few years ago was a fluke, but i still feel that he is a very solid corner and a young one at that. I know it might seem highly unlikely, but how about a Mcgahee/Cromartie deal. I think we all agree that Mcgahee's not going to want to continue to wors as a backup and after the amazingly productive year he had, i think we can get solid value for him. Do you guys think we should work on trading away McGahee for a corner, or should the efforts be more towads trying to get a Wide Reciever..

I mean at the very least, we might be able to get the colts for once

Baltimore Beat Down New Coach on board

Former Defensive Coordinator Dean Pees has been hired by the Ravens to coach the linebackers. The 60 year old most recently was coaching linebackers in New Engladn and before that Ran the whole New England Defense when they were making those Super Bowl Runs.. Not a bad add I guess, but New England's linebackers were definitley average at best this year so lets see how this goes. Ofcourse we all know the real LB coach is Ray Lewis, but i think a coach that has done a lot and won couple rings can atleast bring over some confidence and experience. Baltimore Beat Down Players you wished played for the ravens

I was checking out the "Ask Baltimore Beatdown" post on the steel curtain and i found a post like this about the steelers. Consider it comic relief from the sunday night game.. We always talk about the idea of having certain recievers, and personally, when our offense was terrible i used think [dream] about manning together with the prolific ravens Defense. And please consider all the hypothetical situations, even the T.O. mess years back

Hoping this'll be fun

Baltimore Beat Down Are you talking to me about, PLAYOFFS?!

Yahoo sports has a blog called "Shutdown corner, where do they talk about power rankings and other interesting things going on in the nfl. They also do a weekly update of a playoff picture predicition (ppp?). last week, even though the ravens won a great game AT San Diego, they still had us going in, only as a wildcard team. This weak though, is a different story. Check out the link :

Baltimore Beat Down Keyshawn gets slammed by Mason

Hey guys, I found this link on Yahoo sports and though it was absolutley amazing. Basically, Keyshawn Johnson was "talking smack" about the Ravens recievers, and Derrick Mason finaly did what we've all been doing to all the doubters and Ravens' haters: shut him down! I loved reading this so i think you guys will probably like it too, so check it out!

Baltimore Beat Down Eagles, Ravens Deal?

I was reading something on yahoo sports talking about the Ravens possibly aquiring yet another WR who, like Washington, has not done much in the past, Reggie Brown. (Check out the link below)

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/rumors/post/Eagles-could-be-dealing-wide-receivers-soon;_ylt=AqTyMl80qww2YIQujeNMDF45nYcB?urn=nfl,185474

Now i believe that Brown isn't worth much and I wouldn't be in favor of getting him for lets say a 5th round pick (Remember we got Landry in the 5th round). If anything we should rest Mason and throw out Harper and Washington more often to see how reliable they are in these preseason games. If they don't show much, then go after Brown i guess. Joh Harbaugh was a coach with the Eagles though, so if they ever did bring him in, they must know something about him that we don't. Keep in mind that Brown is only a 5 year pro.

What'ya guys think?

Poll
Should the Ravens bring in Reggie Brown if it costs them a 5th rounder or less?
Yes, we need all the WR we can get.

Baltimore Beat Down Predicting the 2009-10 Season

I found an interesting article on yahoo talking about the Raven' upcoming season. I personally feel their prediction of our record is a few wins short. They seem to think that the Rex Ryan's ansence along with Jim and Bart is gonna hinder our performance. they also brought up an interesting fact that our pressure on the qb has significantly fallen since the 2006 season when the Ravens posted 60 sacks. Last year they had 34. It's interesting to see what the expectations for next year are around the web. Check out the link below and let me know how you feel

Baltimore Beat Down Now what should Ozzie do?

The retirement of Derrick Mason has, to say the least, totally transformed the expectations of many fr the Baltimore Ravens for this following season. Even though Mason has not filed his papers lets be prepared for what will most likely  happen. I'm sure everyone will agree with me that although the Raven's recievers have potential, they will not help us compete for a superbowl like Mason could have. So the question approaches:

What shoul Ozzie Newsome do?

Does this increase our chances in possibly risking more in order to land someone like Brandon Marshall, a guy who could quite possibly, blossom into the leagues's BEST wideout with Joe Flacco throwing him the ball? Or are the Ravens content in attemting to run the table with what they have. Do you guys think that giving a first and a third is now more likely because of the sudden announcement of the retirement. Don't forget that Suggs still has a deal to be finalized by Wednesday and Marshall is also a guy looking for a huge contract.

What'ya guys think?
