Penny to be Skipped
Something tells me nobody will be second-guessing Leyland for this one. Fister/Porcello/Verlander are your starters for the Indians series.
Report: PTBNL Sent to Mariners - Chance Ruffin
According to Jason Churchill of Prospect Insider, relief pitcher Chance Ruffin is likely the player going to Seattle along with Furbush, Wells and Martinez.
It was previously reported that the PTBNL would be named by August 20, and then speculated that the PTBNL would be one of last years draft choices - namely Castellanos, Smyly, or Ruffin.
Ruffin was widely considered one of Detroit's top prospects this year. He quickly advanced through Erie and Toledo to make a short visit (audition?) in Detroit.

ESPN's Outside the Lines piece on Jim Joyce and the Imperfect Game. Definitely worth a read.

Thought this was an interesting read, even if it's from an IU point of view.

Purdue chat on ESPN College Basketball Podcast with Doug Gottlieb
Bob Wischusen brought up Purdue on Doug Gottlieb's podcast and they talked about the team's chances and specifically what E'Twaun Moore brings to the team for a few minutes. Gottlieb and Wischusen then talk about teams that don't have a player like E'Twaun that can "carry a team on their back" for a few games.
Skip to 35:20 for the beginning of the Purdue chat, it continues through about 42:11.
Let me know if that embedded audio thing doesn't work for anybody, first time I've tried that.
Barlow Apologizes
Freshman Kelsey Barlow issued a statement about his actions at the end of the IU game last Thursday, "Near the end of our game against Indiana on Thursday, I acted in a way that I deeply regret. I want to apologize to Indiana University, their players and their coaches for my actions. I will use this experience as a learning tool as I continue to grow as a person and a basketball player."
Coach Matt Painter added, "Kelsey made an immature decision on Thursday night, and it's brought embarrassment to both himself and our team. There isn't a place for that behavior in college basketball or our program, and we'll work with him to reinforce the values that Purdue basketball is built upon."
It is unknown if any disciplinary action will be taken.

Celek to sign 6yr/$30mil extension
I stumbled upon some insider information, a friend is close with the Celek family.
Brent Celek will be signing a six-year, $30 million contract extension with the Eagles. Signing bonus is possibly $8 million. Unsure on the exact timing of the deal.
Good to see that the Eagles will lock up a good young player.
