The Case for Ryan Tannehill

Cool article that looks at Tannehill a little bit differently. Enjoy.

According to the Denver Post, free agent Peyton Manning did not discuss contract terms during his weekend visits with the Cardinals and Broncos. Manning kept it "strictly football" during both visits, and didn't even bring agent Tom Condon out west. The Post reports that Manning was "impressed" by the Broncos, and the Arizona Republic reported Sunday that Peyton was "really into" his Cardinals visit. The Post, as ESPN's Adam Schefter has recently, insists Manning "is not basing his decision on money." Per Post reporter Mike Klis, the Seahawks and Chiefs "are out" of the mix after Manning declined both teams' overtures. He is expected to sign with a new team by Tuesday or Wednesday.

The Broncos are reportedly "regrouping" with free agent Peyton Manning on Saturday. Manning is leveraging his Denver visit for all it's worth before he leaves town to, presumably, meet with the Dolphins and Cardinals. Landing Manning would be a franchise-changer for the Broncos, but a cold-weather team with few compelling weapons on offense, it's a far-from-ideal landing spot from Manning's perspective.

The Miami Herald reports that Dolphins owner Stephen Ross is "infatuated with the idea" of signing Peyton Manning. According to the Herald's Barry Jackson, Ross is willing "to wait as long as necessary" for Manning after he's released by the Colts. Manning may not be ready to sign right away -- for medical or personal reasons -- but Ross will be there when he is. The Dolphins reportedly believe they have a "realistic chance" of landing Manning. Earlier this week, agent Tom Condon made it clear that Manning's $28 million March 8 bonus will not be pushed back, meaning a Dolphins deal could theoretically be in place before March 13.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel now confirms that free agent Matt Flynn receiving the Packers' franchise tag is "not going to happen." Beat writer Tom Silverstein calculated the club's cap commitments, and they only have $7 million to work with toward re-signing Jermichael Finley and Scott Wells, among others. Tagging Flynn would cost $14 million, fully guaranteed. The franchise tag for tight ends is dropping from $7.3 million to $5.5 million under the new CBA, so Finley is almost certain to be tagged. Flynn will hit the open market, and the Dolphins are the favorites to sign him. rotoworld.com

According to the Miami Herald, Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy believes he is the leading candidate for the Dolphins' head-coaching job. McCoy showed his confidence by turning down an interview opportunity with the Raiders. He'll have a second interview with the Dolphins on Thursday. A source tells the Herald that Oakland brass was "not thrilled" McCoy turned them down. Packers OC Joe Philbin and in-house candidate Todd Bowles are McCoy's competition. Our suspicion today was that McCoy had emerged as the favorite in Miami. Dolphins owner Stephen Ross has spoken of finding his "young Don Shula," and the 39-year-old McCoy has a relatively impressive track record as a coordinator in both his Denver and Carolina stops.

Citing sources familiar with Jeff Fisher's thinking, 101 ESPN St. Louis reports Fisher is "on the verge" of becoming the Rams' next head coach. 101 ESPN's Howard Balzer cautions "the decision is not final," but reports that Fisher is expected to choose the Rams over the Dolphins by next week or "even sooner." The Rams satisfied The Rooney Rule during Friday's interview with African American Cardinals defensive coordinator Ray Horton, so they can sign a coach to a contract as soon as an agreement is reached. In St. Louis, Fisher is expected to have say in the Rams' GM search, which typically translates to significant power when it comes to personnel decisions.

Revis to Miami CBs: You're not the best

Darrelle Revis, responding to Vontae Davis' claim that he and Sean Smith are the best cornerback tandem in the league, put them in their place by basically saying, "Sorry, kids, you're not there yet." Just wanted to share this with you guys in case you haven't seen it yet.
