Peter King of SI lauded in his Monday Morning QB column former MSU punter Brandon Fields for his huge 10 punt day that averaged 56.4 yards per punt. King also remarked that Fields is not well known by even the most ardent football fans, but he is at least known by MSU alumni.

Michigan State University football player Dion Sims accepted a plea deal today for his role in an alleged computer theft ring that could allow his conviction to be expunged.

the NCAA tournament has officially expanded from 65 teams to 68 teams. it was widely believed the plan to expand to 96 was imminent and all but ratified. no decision has been made regarding who will participate in the play-in games. options include placing the last at-large teams selected or placing teams by RPI.

with fred smith reinstated to the team, the only players dismissed are oren wilson -- who lied in order to play in the alamo bowl -- glenn winston, and roderick jenrette. there are also 5 transfers (ashton leggett, jamiihr williams, myles white, ishmyl johnson, and brynden trawick).
