The Redskins are close to completing a deal for Denver quarterback Jay Cutler, according to an NFL source.
The source, who told The Examiner of the Redskins’ interest in Cutler two weeks ago, was uncertain what Washington had to surrender in the deal and said it’s “going down as we speak.” The Redskins have shopped current starter quarterback Jason Campbell.

The source had said in a separate conversation about five minutes earlier that Washington appeared to be bumped from the favorite position in favor of another team, possibly Cleveland. However, after hanging up he quickly called back to say, “It changed.”

Colbert Traded to the Seahawks!

Seattle has swapped a late-round draft pick for Broncos wide receiver Keary Colbert, FOXSports.com has learned.

The Seahawks — who had the 17th best pass offense in the league a year ago — have suffered greatly this year with the losses of receivers Nate Burleson, Bobby Engram and Deion Branch to injuries.

Colbert was in his first year with Denver after four seasons with the Panthers. He has 109 career receptions and seven touchdowns, though he has not found the end zone since 2005

I dont mind getting picks for players that are clearly not required on this team.

A little Nervous......as a Bornco Fan

Hello Oakland fans!

Just so you know right off the bat I am a die hard Broncos fan. I want to apologize for the ridiculous trash talk from other Broncos fans that gets tossed around. Although I must admit that it started with "Saint" coming over to MHR. I think that some of the tradh talk being said by both sides is ridiculous but whatever.

Anyway, I would be lying if I said I wasnt nervous about this first game. I honestly believe that Denver is the better "team" (Oakland may have better paper players in some positions) but the thing with the NFL is anything can happen. in 2006 Denver was a better team then Miami and lost, in 2007 Denver was a better team the Buffalo and should have lost. I think the first game is always up in the air and to put that game in Oakland and on Monday night makes it a GREAT start to the year but also dangerous. I think whichever team wins will get off to a good start to the season but a loss could send things spiriling downward quickly.

I just hope for a good game and I do believe that Denver will win something like 24-17. I really like some of the pieces that you guys have and I think we have a battle ahead for many years with some of your young guys and ours. Both teams are going the right way, Denver is just getting there quicker because the managment is a little more sound in their decision making and spending.

Anyway, enjoy the game and I look forward to the Broncos hopefully pulling out a win!

Where did all of the links to the other teams blog sites go? Before MHR was re-formatted they used to be at the right side of the page. Then once the changes were made to MHR they were down at the bottom of the main page. Now they are no where to be found! I like to look up other teams before game days and see what is happening before I make my weekly picks. Will these links be back??

PS: VERY pumped about Monday night.......and a little nervous even though I know we are the better team.

This is a well written article on ESPN about Marshall. It is interesting to hear the national media's opinion of the WR. I honestly think that he is getting more attention now then he did when he was putting up 102 receptions and 1300+ yards.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=williamson_bill&id=3329102

Broncos revive pursuit of Jets' Robertson

According to ESPN, the only thing stopping DT Dewayne Robertson from being a Bronco at this point is a financial agreement.

http://myespn.go.com/blogs/hashmarks/0-5-844/Broncos-revive-pursuit-of-Jets--Robertson.html

As the NFL meetings get going, the Broncos are starting to revive their interest in Jets defensive tackle Dewayne Robertson.

The Broncos were close to dealing for Robertson in mid-March but the talks were stalled when the team suddenly fired general manager Ted Sundquist on March 12. Sundquist was the point man in the talks with the Jets.

With Sundquist now out of the picture and with Denver still needing a force in the middle of its young front four, the team has reconsidered making a deal for Robertson, a talented player who doesn't fit in the Jets' scheme.

Still, finalizing a deal will be difficult for Denver. Robertson's contract will have to be restructured and the team has been in on-again, off-again talks with his agent, Hadley Engelhard, for several weeks. Robertson is due a $3 million bonus in June and he has salary-cap number of about $11 million for this season.

Denver would have to redo the deal to make it fiscally worthwhile, especially with the Broncos in a cost-conscience mode this offseason.

The Broncos are said not to be overly concerned about an Robertson's knee problem. The issue was serious enough, however, to negatively impact a potential trade early in March that would have sent Robertson to Cincinnati for two mid-round picks.

At this point, it seems, the only hurdle standing in the way of Denver making its biggest splash of the offseason is coming to an agreement with Robertson financially
