Grew up in Philly, but adopted the Brewers when we moved here in 1998. They really need to bring back the barrel that Bernie Brewer slid into on home runs, where the balloons would go flying up like foam. Why would they ever take that away?

Mike Cameron, Carlos Gomez, and Arbitration

The Brewers front office whiffed on arbitration, and then perhaps whiffed again.

Don't like the Hardy/Gomez trade?

Err, maybe the Brewers shouldn't have traded JJ so quickly.

Seth McClung's Thanksgiving Tweet. It's hard not to like Son of Clung, although the Todd Coffey allusion is a bit of a non sequitur.

If I was Cashman, I'd simply call every representative of any free agent out there and say "when you've got what you think is your best offer, call me. I'll let you know whether I'll beat it within two hours."

Infielder Adam Heether...returned home from the Venezuelan Winter League this week after he strained a rib-cage muscle. Brewers assistant general manager Gord Ash called the injury -- an intercostal strain -- 'very minor'.

Adam McCalvy, who also reports that Gamel will be headed to the VWL next week, less than a week after getting married.

List of arbitration-eligible players

4

Here is the list of 210 players eligible for arbitration. The Brewers have 8 such players, some of which are a lock for arbitration (Carlos Gomez), while others are up in the air (Dave Bush, Son of Clung, Mike Rivera). The nontender deadline is December 12.

Ryan Braun: once again a Silver Slugger

1

Per Tom H.: "Braun batted .320 with 32 home runs and 114 RBI, and led the NL with 203 hits. He is the first Brewers player to win consecutive Silver Slugger Awards since Paul Molitor, who claimed the honor as DH in the American League in 1987-'88....Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder, who won the award in 2007, again bowed to St. Louis' Albert Pujols despite having one of the best seasons in club history."

MLBTR: Trade Market for Starting Pitchers

3

Hat tip to Al, who posted a link to MLBTR's Trade Market for Starting Pitchers. It's worth going through, just to see the two Brewers starters who made the list. It's also worth noting that there are FIVE Detroit Tigers on the list. You'll recall that Doug Melvin did not bother calling Detroit to gauge their interest in JJ Hardy because there was no fit to be had.
