I wish you all the best, you were frustrating for the last few years so I will concentrate on the positive points....

The Future.....

I watched you closely in Sacramento and when I knew it was inevitable that Tejada was leaving I didn't panic.

You started off by winning the ROY, in fine A's tradition ( Byrd, Canseco, McGuire, Weiss, Grieve, You, then Street)

You had such potential in your first year; you hit line drives into the gap as if you were punishing opposing pitchers for some personal insult.

You were popular with the ladies, my sister once told me that if you were to ask her out she would immediately break up with anyone else on the planet (except for Eric Chavez). My girlfriend thinks you look like Brad Pitt. You pretty much could have married my sister or stolen my girlfriend and I probably still would have rooted for you.

You never did anything to hurt the game. You never took steroids, you never were arrested, and you never spoke poorly of teammates or management. By all accounts you seem like a nice guy.

Potential Lost......

You found new ways to get injured, and every time you did I sighed to myself and thought, "at least next year you will be the comeback player of the year". But you just kept getting unlucky. I wasn't the only one, Gammons, who is rarely off the mark, predicted you would be the MVP only a few short years ago.

You and Chavez should have been the cornerstones of the little franchise that could but you couldn't get healthy. We (the fans) held on to hope and rooted for you every year. I was doing it again this year after I heard you took BP with Big Mac and the Matt Holiday.

First Cabrera came along and then Nomar put the final nail in your coffin. I hope you get traded, and I will follow you. I hope you put up monster numbers, I hope you show the world that you still have it. I will root for you as long as you aren't playing the A's. You deserve better, but baseball is a business and it is time for the fans and you to part ways.
