another exciting draft day is gone and now we get to sit back and watch how all these draftess pan out. but in the meantime, i thought it'd be interesting to see who y'all would've drafted if you were the titans given the players available at each spot. obviously drafting different players at our spot would've changed other picks, but just go with it. anyways, here is my draft given what players were available at our spots.

1 (30): everette brown. the guy is a beast. he could've gone in the top ten and somehow fell to the second round. obviously the teams know something i don't, but this guy gets to the qb and reminds me alot of the freak (vintage 2000).

2(62): jarron gilbert. the man jumped out of a pool. on second thought sen'derrick marks works just fine here.

3 (94): dj moore. i think enough has been said by this point. kiper and mcshay both agreed this morning that he was one of the best value picks of the draft.

4 (130): james casey. reminds me wycheck. would've gone cornelius ingram here but i've had my fill of florida te's

4 (135): quan cosby. having bill cosby on your side has to be good for karma

cap situation

as i'm sitting here watching other teams wheel and deal and the titans pulling a titans i was just wondering what people think we are going to do with all the space we have.

as far as i can tell, the titans had $31M in space before the offseason started and have had the following signings to date with the estimated cap hit for '09:

scaife: $5M

bironas: $3M (maybe $5M?)

collins: $8M

fuller: $3M

i rounded up for everyone just to be conservative of remaining space. that leaves the titans $12M under the cap at least. in today's nfl $12M/year on one player gets you the following:

any wide receiver except TO, moss, fitzgerald, bernard berrian (yikes), and javon walker (double yikes)

any de or dt except haynesworth, jared allen, will smith, justin smith, julius peppers, tommy harris, or tommy kelly (al davis what the hell)

basically, $12M can get you a pro bowl caliber player. too bad there aren't any pro bowlers left to pursue. so my question is how should we spend this hot stinky cash?

personally i'd like to re-sign chris carr, but beyond that i don't really care. sure coles or washington would be nice, but i don't really think that it changes the complexion of this team too much. a better option to me would be trading for boldin and using the space to sign him to a deal.

its frustrating that the titans never really go after big name guys, but now at this point i hope they sit pat since no one left is really any good.

p.s. i know the numbers are rough and the salary cap is alot more complicated than how i put it. i used 2008 salaries from usatoday.

so today is the first day that i checked mcm since saturday. in fact, today is the first day that i allowed myself to watch/read any titans related topics. after saturday's loss, i drank all the beers in my fridge and just stared at my eddie george bobblehead wondering where it all went wrong...

anyways, i'm pretty sure people have done this already, but i just wanted to give huge props to the folks on this site. this was my first season on mcm, and it quickly became one of the handful of sites i checked throughout the day and definitely strengthened my titans fanhood.

some quick thoughts on the game that shall not be named:

chris johnson is the man. part of me wishes he tried to tough out the injury and play a couple snaps and part of me is just glad i get to watch him for the next few years.

justin gage played out of his mind.

our d-line gets alot of pub, but our o-line is better in my opinion. great game by the hogs up front on both sides.

obligatory kerry collins comment: he played fine i thought. he had a couple flashbacks to evil kerry, but after the year he's had, i have no complaints if he started all next year, as much as i love vy (sorry superhorn).

freakin fumbles i mean what the !#$!#@ !@#% @!#% !@#$ !@#% $!@#.................

i hope this team comes back hungrier than ever and puts an almighty ass whooping on the rest of the league.

thanks again to all the mcm homies, and i can't wait for the day that the front story on this site has a picture of papa bear fisher hoisting the lombardi trophy over his head and no one comments for days because we're all too busy celebrating.

can we use vy and kc?

after watching ronnie brown running the single wing/wildcat/wildhog/wilddolphin, and even seeing the texans run a play or two from that formation, it got me thinking of us using vy in that position. he is definitely a good enough runner, and i'm sure he can throw better than ronnie brown (i hope). it even turns the tables and makes him a run first quarterback, which plays to his strengths, and will maybe remind him what got him to the league in the first place. anyways, just a thought.

disclaimer: i am not in anyway advocating benching kc for vy. as long as we're winning, the only way vince should start is if collins gets hurt or has 3 or 4 terrible games in a row (the 3 - 4 interception, 100 yard variety). with that said, i think using vince in spots could add a dimension to the offense and maybe get him back in the flow a bit. of course having vy rush the ball could get him hurt, but at least we have chris simms...oh wait.
