Since comments closed for the last one, I'm subbing in for D. Reese in getting this up and running. My motivations are not sincere or innocent at all as I selfishly want to discuss the return of Community. My first impression is it was great to see the characters back and there are still shades of the show as we all remember it, but it does seem like there was a bit of a difference. Maybe it's my fondness for the show and knowing that virtually everyone behind-the-scenes is new has skewed my perception somewhat. I did still enjoy the episode, and if you recall Season 3 it really wasn't until three or four episodes in that it really got going ("Remedial Chaos Theory" then the Halloween episode where they all told stories).

So now that I have gotten that out of the way...talk about whatever your heart desires here. Sports, movies, television, food, life questions you have for Papa B, anything you want.

Oh yes, just in time for That Big Game (real name trademarked by the NFL, can't mention it for fear of ninja assassins!) week, "Late Night" makes a triumphant return. This week, we have none other than Ravens linebacker and Dancing With the Stars wannabe and MCM Most Hated Ray Lewis as our guest!

Ray-Ray: I just want to thank me, myself, and I for this opportunity. It's been an incredible journey and I give myself all the glory for getting here.

RB: Don't you mean God? That's who you are always crediting.

RR: That's who I did credit.

RB: I see. So, narcissism aside, what do you say to accusations that you are over-the-top and melodramatic in pregame situations?

RR: I don't think anyone here is qualified to ask me those kind of questions.

RB: I disagree Ray, I think my five Emmy awards say that I am highly qualified to ask you anything I want.

RR: Whatever man, it's all in His hands anyways.

RB: I want to play a song for you. This is Justin Bieber's "Boyfriend". Tell me your thoughts.

(at this point Ray starts to tear up and within seconds is full-on crying, seeming to be overwhelmed by the music)

RB: Wow, so pretty much anything gets you going huh? Let's try another...this is "Call Me Maybe".

(defying known human physics, Ray has started crying harder and in fact has what could be considered waterfalls coming from his eyes)

RB: Ray, what do you say to allegations that you are trying to turn yourself into a deer in order to get into one of those Old Spice commercials as a deer mounted on a wall?

RR: What I do on my own time to recover is between myself, the trainers, and God.

RB: So you don't deny it?

RR: I took all sorts of stuff legally to help myself recover. Back off! (at this point Ray becomes a little scary)

RB: What do you have to say about allegations you were involved in those murders in 2000 and became a snitch?

RR: Listen! It's all up to a higher power now!

RB: Ok, but what do you have to say about those allegations?

RR: I am going to cut you...

(At this point Ray whips out a hidden knife and starts advancing on Mr. Burgundy)

RB: Ray, no, it was a simple question! It's part of your history! Five Emmys!!!! Fi...

Hola! Papa B has been busy lately which has prevented my most recent interview from coming out until now. But with the contributors slacking off lately (ahem...Winniel!), what better time to provide you another fantastic hot seat with the legendary Ron Burgundy? Let's also cut some slack on the whole "late night" thing here, I haven't slept in 24 hours so for me it's late night!

Anyways, this week we have a twofer. After last week's stirring victory over the Pittsburgh Dishtowels, sorry, Steelers, I sat down with linebacker James Harrison and Steelers Superfan Ben Bucktooth (retroactively renamed by his parents after the Steelers quarterback). Join me as I sit down with player and fan to get their insight!

Papa B: Yes, I understand you're a fan but could you answer the question?

BB: We have six rings! How many do you have?!

Papa B: Well I have my Channel 4 News Team ring...my Playgirl's Sexiest Man Alive ring (cherish that one)...oh, and here's my members only ring for five-time Emmy winners!

Papa B: Let's talk about your quarterback. James, how do you feel about opposing defenses taking so-called "cheap shots" against Ben Roethlisberger when you have been known to blantantly deliver helmet-to-helmet hits on opponents?

Harrison: That's why we play the game! Teams who hit Ben like that are just dirty. When I'm out there I'm just playing football, that's all it is.

Papa B: Let me get this straight...you're "playing football" but if an opponent lands a similar hit to one of your teammates it's "dirty"?

Harrison: I WILL HEADBUTT YOU INTO OBLIVION!!!

Papa B: I think I have a concussion just thinking about that. Ben, why do you get so sensitive about the towel?

BB: That towel is sacred! How dare you insult it, you obviously have no idea what it means to Steelers fans!

Papa B: You mean that a percentage of profits go to help children? I understand that fine. But what about those towels that are always sold by random people outside the stadium that you buy from? I'm sure THOSE guys are giving a percentage to charity...

BB: DON'T HATE THE TOWEL!

Papa B: It's stupid.

BB: GO F*** YOURSELF! The towel has helped countless children! If you can't understand that, you obviously hate children.

Papa B: James, how do you feel having this sort of fanbase?

Harrison: Man, I gotta be honest. I talk a tough game just so I can fit in and not have to deal with these people. Really I just want to play for a franchise with good fans like the Seahawks. Those guys are loud AND smart.

My guest tonight is the ~~brilliant~~ ~~well-spoken~~ ~~knowledgable~~ person, analyst Dan Fouts. Join me as I talk to him about football, life and creating new words and names out of the English language!

Ron: Dan, let me first just say what an honor it is to be speaking to a Hall of Famer like yourself.

Dan: Thanks for having me, Randy.

Ron: It's Ron, Ron Burgundy.

Dan: Sorry Rob.

Ron: I'm a five-time Emmy winner...anyways, Dan, can you give us a quick breakdown of the Titans-Texans game?

Dan: Well, the Texans scored more points than the Titans.

Ron: Yes, I think we all knew that. What was the biggest breakdown for the Titans?

Dan: Well Rick, from what I saw they just need to score more points.

Ron: Ron. What besides scoring points do they need to do? Maybe change things up on defense?

Dan: If they score more points, they'll win games.

Ron: So that's how it works? Scoring more points than the other team is good?

Dan: Well that's football for ya!

Ron: Who were some of your favorite players to watch from the game today?

Dan: I really like this guy for the Titans, Arian Verner.

Ron: You mean Alterraun Verner, the cornerback?

Dan: No, he's the running back.

Ron: Arian Foster? He plays for the Texans.

Dan: Right. Great to see him get back on track today after the way his season started.

Ron: I think you're getting your players confused. In your opinion, what do the Titans need to do on defense to stop giving up so many yards and points?

Dan: That's why they're one of the best defenses in the league Randall, it's so tough to do anything against them. Not many offenses are going to have success running or passing against that front seven.

Ron: Dan, I'm going to have to stop you for a moment. From one professional broadcaster to another, I have to say, you get your names and teams wrong quite often.

Dan: Sorry about that Ryan. I gotta run but final thought...it's unfortunate Schaub was knocked out early of this one, could've made it a completely different game.

Another Late Night with Ron Burgundy

Well my interview with an Anonymous-Jaguars-Fan-That-You-Just-Might-Recognize-At-A-Certain-Blog went over so well, that I decided to snag another exclusive interview (not that difficult to do when you're me, who doesn't want to be interviewed by Ron Burgundy?). This week, I am joined by Joe, one of the replacement refs who is subbing/scabbing in for the regulars while they hold out for more green. Join me as I talk to him about being an NFL referee and the way things have gone thus far in his NFL ref'ing career!

Ron: Joe, thanks for joining me.

Joe: *inaudible*

Ron: I think you may need to turn your mic on there...you're also facing the wrong way, I'm over here.

Joe: IT'S GREAT TO BE HERE!

Ron: I think my eardrum just exploded. Anyways, how does it feel to be officiating in the big leagues?

Joe: We're...we're...

Ron: It's a simple question Joe, no need to hesitate.

Joe: Hold on, I need to consult with the other guys...

Thirty minutes later...

Joe: It's been a lot of fun. Challenging, but I think we're all aware of the situation and doing the best that we can to maintain the integrity of the game. Right?

Ron: Who are you saying "Right?" to?

Joe: Oh, no one. I stand by what I said.

Ron: What's your officiating background?

Joe: Well I come from the AFAAF.

Ron: What's that?

Joe: The American Football Association of American Football.

Ron: That sounds..redundant. Who plays in that league?

Joe: Mainly former high schoolers who weren't good enough for their JV teams.

Ron: Ok then. So, how do you deal with the intense scrutiny and criticism that the replacement refs have received thus far?

Joe: Gamble.

Ron: What?!

Joe: Yeah, I place money on NFL games. Usually go for the underdog.

Ron: Joe, you know that is highly unethical and illegal for NFL employees right? You directly affect the outcome of the game.

Joe: Is it? I haven't read the rules, didn't know that.

Ron: You haven't read the rules for the league in which you are now an official?

Joe: I figured someone else would read them and I could just ask them what I need to do.

Ron: I'm going to pretend like the last few minutes never happened. What do you say to critics who say you are taking entirely too long to call things, or missing blatant fouls, or making huge mistakes that could affect who wins and who loses?

Joe: I've made a huge mistake.

Ron: You're admitting that?

Joe: After review, the previous statement is reversed.

Ron: Why, what evidence was there to reverse it?

Joe: It's what I saw on replay.

Ron: You suck!

Best SB Nation NFL blogs?

Moderators, feel free to take this down if it's not classy or appropriate to discuss this. I'm doing it cause I am genuinely curious and want to get a feel for other SB Nation blogs. And now here is some filler before I get into why I am posting this. Locker, Locker, Locker, Wright. Locker, Locker, Locker, Wright. McCarthy, McCarthy, McCarthy, Casey. McCarthy, McCarthy, McCarthy, Casey.

So lately I've been starting to branch out and exploring other SB Nation blogs. So far I have stuck to our division rivals and I think we all are pretty in consensus on those. Although I am curious to get your thoughts on BRB as I haven't spent a ton of time there to be honest (the comments I've read just seem to dismiss us as a bunch of rednecks, even though I'm sure it is all in good fun, it's annoying; they seem to have let one successful year in a season of AFC South mediocrity go to their heads).

I have been reading Field Gulls lately and really love that one, mainly this former writer who I just stumbled upon going back through their archives, John Morgan. That guy has some fantastic stuff but looks like he is no longer writing for them.

So my question to you, MCM, is what SB Nation NFL blogs should I be haunting to broaden my horizons and educate myself further on football as well as get smart, insightful views from different fanbases?

Well based on the voting, it looks like McCarthy is the clear favorite. I will put a Fanshot up of the jersey when I get it. He was my favorite to win it, so I'm glad most of us are in agreement here.

So with this team being on the upswing (in my optimistic view, even if that is not reflected in this season's record...don't be surprised if it isn't), and with a lot of good young talent now on the roster, I think the time has finally come for Papa Burgundy to get a new jersey. I've been rocking the Keith Bulluck #53 for a long time now (and will continue to do so), but I do want to get someone who is a part of this new era of Titans football. So I have put together a little poll below, my usual preference is a starter but not necessarily the "popular" ones (i.e., CJ) or an offensive lineman. I like to get someone who I think is going to be with the team for a while but also is not ubiquitous, so that is where my selections in the poll have come from. Also feel free to chime in in the comments if your vote is not in the poll.

With the draft being so close, and a member of the MCM family attending this year's draft, along with some questions about it in the draft week open thread, I wanted to share my experience of going to the draft in 2009 when I was living in NYC. This was the year we picked late after the damn Ratbirds took out CJ and ended up taking Britt. Join me as I take you through the amusing, the boring and everything in between of attending the NFL Draft in person.

This was I believe the last year before they went to the three-day, prime time format (sidenote: does anyone else miss having this on Saturday? It made for a lazy day but I loved marathoning the first three rounds). So Friday night I headed to Radio City Music Hall and stood outside with thousands of other fans for several hours. This was JUST to get the wristband and ticket for entrance; it is first-come, first-serve so obviously the closer to the front of the line, the better your seat will be.

After waiting for several hours, finally got to go through and get my wristband and ticket for admittance the next day. Saturday, you get to repeat the process and stand in line for a bit just waiting to get in to the building. Fortunately this is more festive and exciting as all the TV cameras are out there getting crowd shots, the Jets fans are already being obnoxious...and everyone is booing anyone who is wearing a Cowboys jersey.

Finally getting into Radio City, you are given a backpack with some goodies inside (though nothing too special). I brought my own bag with a draft guide I liked so I could follow along and read up on prospects as they were taken. Ironically enough, I ended up sitting right next to a Ravens fan and we managed to be cordial enough. Most of the real fans are on the top couple of balconies, I believe I was on the second one. The floor is mainly guests of the league, VIPs and people who pay for those special packages on NFL.com. We could look down and see both the ESPN and NFL Network sets, and one thing I did like was they gave everyone earpieces and you could tune in to the audio feed of either network while giant screens had the video.

Before the televised draft begins with the Commissioner, they brought out all the prospects who were there in person and Deion Sanders introduced them. Then the fun began and there wasn't a huge difference between what you see on TV and what we had in person. The biggest thing would probably be that Deion interviewed prospects just for us (I think they are now broadcast too). Otherwise...pretty much got the same experience as you would at home.

Honestly, it gets kind of tedious sitting there for hours when your team is picking 28th. This was also the Sanchez draft so that was entertaining seeing the reaction of Jets fans.

My advice for any of you attending...be prepared to stand in line for several hours the night before as well as the day of the draft. And bring something to read because you will get bored sitting there, even with the audio available from both television broadcasts. And my humble opinion is don't plan a trip to New York solely to attend the draft unless you are just a diehard draftnik and want to do it. It was cool to be there in person and I like being able to say I've done it, but I was living in the city at the time so giving up a Friday night/Saturday wasn't a big deal. Don't use vacation time for it! I much prefer sitting on my couch with the TV on and my laptop open to MCM.

Stay calm, stay classy, and drink some Scotch if it will help you get through this.

That poor Matt Hasselbeck, got $7 million this past season, and as for Locker...I'm sure he'll have the exact same reaction as Vince Young did to getting benched. Front rows of LP Field might want to watch out for flying shoulder pads. Seriously people, these are professionals, they understand the business side of things and that ultimately everyone answers to the owner. Check out 'Moneyball' for a great scene that shows this kind of understanding of how things work. Let's also be honest (and I still haven't made up my mind on how I feel about this signing so this is not me going one way or another), this is a very, very, VERY unique situation with someone like Peyton Manning hitting the open market. Locker will get his chance, we just don't know exactly when it will happen yet and this could delay it another season.

If the Titans sign Manning, won't that mess up the young skill position players' development? Jared Cook isn't known for knowing the playbook, wouldn't you hate to see people like him and Kenny Britt have to start over?

It will be terrifying seeing them have to start over with the dumbest QB in the history of the game. I think there would be some changes in the offense, but I see Manning adapting more to the Titans than the other way around. They can keep their system and just give him more control over audibles at the line, hot routes, etc. I don't expect a complete overhaul of the offensive system just because Manning is under center.

Can I say that I miss Schefter on NFLN? Having him AND Mayock made them perhaps the most respectable sports network (let's just forget that Jamie Dukes exists...) with their top news guy and draft guru. I have to believe that Schefter is correct on this, the Titans have made it pretty clear without actually saying anything that they are not going to take Finny and by all appearances it seems they're willing to let him walk. Unfortunately for us fans, this means we will not be able to see the "Rumble That A Douchebag Starts And Gets Away With A Clean Reputation, Part II" since he likely is heading to Dallas or Detroit. Wait, do either of those teams play Houston next year? Maybe there is hope after all!

Let's go ahead and just say that the Combine has become waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too hyped of an event. There are aspects of it that are important to the draft, but those are the things we don't get to watch on NFLN (that being the medical checks and the team interviews...how awesome would it be to have a camera in team interviews? I imagine it being something like on Law & Order, could totally see "The Hoodie" standing in the dark corner grilling a prospect). A lot of the rest of it has been hyped up for some reason, mainly to give NFLN something else to broadcast I think, and to give draftniks another thing to nitpick about prospects. Anyways, I digress...Barron's hernia from what I understand should not be a recurring thing so that alone shouldn't mean avoid him. If he has a good pro day I bet he is still a Top 20 pick. As far as my opinion, I believe now (before free agency) that the TItans are going to go DL in the first round.

How did giving CJ what he wanted work out for this team last year? Look, I understand the sentimental reasons for wanting Finny back, and he had a great year. Unfortunately something that a lot of fans forget is that there is a business side to football as well, and the business side says he is not worth what he is wanting. Not to mention there are 52 other spots on this team that need to be filled and throwing so much money at one guy can impact their ability to fill those other positions of need. There's a great scene in Moneyball that kind of reflects this whole "sentimentality vs. business" aspect of pro sports, where a guy gets traded and the new front office guru has to be the one to tell him and is terrified of what the response will be. I highly recommend you watch it, great film (my personal pick for Best Picture, even though it will never win). P.S. Bud don't make the personnel decisions unless Texas QBs in the Top 5 of the draft are involved!

I would say the difference is the Titans had enough solid pieces in place already, and let's be honest, they probably overachieved this year even with all the positives like the rookie class and Nate Washington taking it to another level. I think the Colts have a TON more holes to fill than the Titans did at this point last season. Even with free agency resuming at its normal time in the year, they're revamping their defense into a new front, will have a new QB who will have lots of new players around him, and will be saying goodbye to a lot of the veteran core that brought them the success of the past ten years. Personally I look forward to seeing them struggle so a certain Colts' blog writer can see what it's like to suck...

Because people are idiots. Steve Carell is a genius! A genius I tell you! Have you seen that show since he left? Used to be one of my favorites but it is just terrible now and is showing how crucial he really was to the success of it. That he lost to the guy from The Big Bang Theory (who had already won it the prior year! Thankfully the Emmys weren't a complete loss as Kyle Chandler won for playing Coach Taylor) just makes me sad. So during the offseason I will attempt to do a weekly "Dear _____" letter that will be Titans or NFL related, and maybe some random topical ones thrown in for good measure. First one obviously has to be about our boys in blue though...this one is dedicated to Nashville sports talk callers.

Hello and congrats on your promotion to GM of the Titans! I've honestly never heard of you before, but I'm sure we're going to get along great because I spend my hard-earned money on season tickets, which means I go to every game and see everything, and know what we need to do to fix this team! Here's my offseason checklist that you should follow and we'll be in the Super Bowl in no time!

1) Sign Peyton Manning. The guy played at UT and would love to come home (let's put aside that he's from Louisiana, we all know he bleeds orange and that he's pretty much from here), or at least that's what I've heard from my cousin's roommate's brother, whose distantly connected to the janitor at UT's football complex. Plus the doctors just said he's healthy and according to my dermatologist that means he can throw again!

2) Bring Albert Haynesworth back. The guy was a beast here, and coming back home would probably be the best thing for him.

3) Bring Vince Young back. Can you imagine VY sitting behind Manning for a couple years and winning a couple of rings?! He'd be unstoppable when he got back on the field!

4) Sign every top free-agent available. Spend $150 million to bring in Manning, Mario Williams, Carl Nicks, Dwane Bowe, Brandon Marshall and anyone else who is available. I'm tired of us being cheap, it's time to spend some money!

5) Hire Phil Fulmer to be scouting director. The guy is a legend in the state and fans would love to see him involved with Tennessee football again...albeit Tennessee Titans football.

6) Trade for Arian Foster. I know he's restricted, but everyone has a price! Foster played at UT and would love to come home. Can you imagine him AND CJ in the same backfield?

7) Cut CJ. He's obviously toast after Jeff Fisher overloaded him.

8) Cut Kenny Britt. He can't stay out of trouble and he's been injured. Time to move on (see number four...).

9) Cut Matt Hasselbeck. Dude is old and was not very good this year, it's obvious he can't get it further than ten yards anymore!

10) Bring Jeff Fisher back. If it wasn't for Vince Young, he would've had three Super Bowls in the past five years. Fisher is the best coach to ever coach the Titans and let's be honest, Munchak got really lucky with some of his wins this year. FIsher would be a good veteran coach who knows how to get the most out of his players!

So there you have it, Ruston (let's use first names since we're BFFs already), my ten-step guide to winning a Super Bowl in no time. If you don't follow this, I swear to Columbia Blue that I will stop supporting this team and do something else with my money.
