SMACKDOWN: Feliz vs Holland

Can't get much better than this.  20yr old that hits 100mph or the 21yr old lefty that touches 97.  Both have dominated all season long and now seem to be competing against only each other in the AA playoffs, as their actual opponents don't seem to have a chance.  Who has the better future?  Who sees the majors first?

My bet is on Feliz being the best major leaguer, but that is based more on age and background than anything else.  I think Holland is the first to reach the show.

Rotoworld on Rangers:

http://rotoworld.com/content/features/column.aspx?sport=MLB&columnid=2&articleid=30039&p g=4

Has brief writeups on the top 10, plus a little bit about the 11-20 group.  I continue to be impressed by the depth of the system, evidenced by the guys that are not in the top 10, yet have appeared on a top 100 list somewhere in the past 2 months.  They state that the 11-20 group would rank as the 2nd best 11-20 group in all the land.

Noah Lowry

Walked 9 guys in an inning and a third yesterday.  7 in the 1st inning, came back out to start the second inning and walked the first two guys before getting the hook.

Steve Blass or early spring?

Other news:  Favre retires, I have a monster dong, and the dow is geting pounded again.

75K for a better grade...

A post by deltabourne in an earlier thread was meant to be an insult, but it got me thinking.  What is there to stop the Yankees (used as an example, please substitute your least favorite big spender) from paying the most well known prospect graders/list makers to upgrade their prospects?  I would think the Yankees (ex.) would gladly pay 250k/year divided by the top 5 graders to bump their guys up 10-15 slots on lists.  I know GM's rely on scouts and other info when making trades, but honestly, the general masses is what allows them to keep their kickass jobs.  If the general masses see Joba, or Hughes, or Kennedy, or Horne, or Tabata, or Jackson, etc ranked highly, than the GM gets praised when they give up their solid veteran for him.  If those guys aren't ranked on any of the top 50 or 100 lists, the masses assume they got nothing in return.

Makes sense to me and if I'm Cashman, I'm calling Mr. Sickels tomorrow.

Please don't make fun of me if I'm missing something (besides integrity, which I am convinced can be bought).

Spanks in advance.

Edinson Volquez = Roy Halladay

Dallas Morning News reports that Volquez will start the season at High A Bakersfield.  I remember the Blue Jays doing this with Roy Halladay.  Mark Conner was the pitching coach for Toronto in 2001 and is now the pitching coach of the Rangers.  I like the move.  He wouldn't have helped at all this season anyway and this really sends a message to him that he won't make it if he doesn't fix his command problems.

Any hope for Marlon Byrd...

Agreed to a 1 yr deal with the Rangers today.  Surely they don't expect him to be the opening day cf.  Maybe a platoon with Lofton?  He has been really lousy since his rookie year and doesn't even have strong left/right splits that would make him a likely platoon candidate.  Just a low risk/high reward move?  I use 'high reward' very generously.
