Bullets Forever Wolves/Wizards Trade, Rearranging Deck Chairs on the Titanic is Not Pointless

Greetings Wizards fans from a Wolves fan who has been looking at both of our rosters and can't help but be reminded of swiss cheese. I think we can help each other, much like how when you traded us the #5 pick (Rubio) for Mike Miller and Randy Foye. I kid I kid, that was uncalled for, sorry.

I'll just go ahead and post my trade idea and explain why I think it works:

Michael Beasley SF - 1 year, $6.3 mil

Luke Ridnour PG - 3 years, $3.7 mil

Nikola Pekovic PF - 2 years, $4.5 mil

Martell Webster SG - 1 year, $5.3 mil (2nd year is unguaranteed)

for

Nick Young

Rashard Lewis

Hmady Ndiaye (or however you spell it)

For the Wolves, it is simple, we need a SG that can play 30 mpg and score the ball. Right now we have Ridnour starting there and he's doing his best but it's a less than ideal situation to say the least. Our other SGs Wayne Ellington and Wes Johnson, are complete trash. Nick Young, or as I like to call him "SG Mike Beasley", would be a good fit on this team. As for Rashard Lewis, I don't have too much hope for him, but if anyone can fix his shot, it's Rubio with his uncanny ability to set his teammates up for wide open 3 pointers. Even if he continues being not so good, he's still better than Wes Johnson.

For the Wizards, from my point of view this trade is all about shaking things up and filling holes. Ridnour is a nice backup PG with the ability to play SG because he is one of the best shooters in the league. In my opinion it would benefit Wall greatly if he had a veteran such as Ridnour to help him out at PG. Beasley is a talented scorer that would play big minutes at SF until the rookies are ready to take over. He will be a restricted free agent so you would get a free look for the rest of the season as to whether you want to re-sign him or not. He could also get some opportunities at PF on your team that are unrealistic on the Wolves with Love and Derrick Williams at that position. Martell Webster is currently hurt and is hurt quite a lot, but when he's healthy he was top 10 in the NBA in 3 point shooting last year and is a good defender. If it doesn't work out, his contract is nearly completely unguaranteed next year so there is no risk involved. Nikola Pekovic is a good low post scorer and as strong as any player in the NBA, but he has struggled to adjust to the NBA so far and fouls way too much. He's buried on the wolves roster because half of our team is power forwards, but I think he could help another team in a limited backup role. Ridnour, Webster, and Pekovic are all good teammates that would steady your locker room dynamic. Beasley is a good guy that makes dumb decisions, but is by no means a cancer. Plus he's from the DC area, that has to count for something right? If this trade were to happen, I'm assuming you would probably cut Roger Mason to get back down to 15 players.

In conclusion, I think this trade would help both teams, maybe only slightly but it still helps. Maybe I am way off-base here on the value of some of these players, it's tough to know how much fans of other teams value their players. Let me know what you think in the comments and feel free to rip on me if you think this is a terrible trade!

Bright Side Of The Sun Suns/Wolves Trade Proposal. Is it Good for Both Teams?

Hello there Suns fans, me and some of my fellow Wolves fans have been looking at the Suns roster and feel as though these two teams would make good trade partners. Both teams seem to have some players that would be better served on the other team.

Here is the proposal I came up with and then I'll explain Why I think it works:

Channing Frye & Shannon Brown

for

Wesley Johnson, Nikola Pekovic, & Martell Webster

For the Wolves, it is simple, they get 2 players at positions of great need. Frye would be a big help at center as Darko is the only guy on our roster who isn't hurt that can play there reasonably well. We have been resorting to a lot of smallball lineups with Love or Tolliver at center because Darko is so inconsistent and useless on the offensive end. Frye's ability to shoot 3s would fit in well with our team. Shannon Brown has been off to a pretty terrible start, but he's better than what the Wolves have right now. If the necromancers on your medical staff can keep Michael Redd healthy, Brown is going to be playing a much reduced role and probably won't be happy about it either.

For the Suns, a lot of the appeal from my point of view is getting rid of Frye's contract. It's only a matter of time before Morris takes his spot in the starting lineup and both Lopez and Warrick seem to be capable backups. $6 million is a lot of money to pay a backup and doing this trade would also allow the Suns to save $6.4 million owed in 2013-14 and $6.8 million owed in 2014-2015. As for the players you'll be picking up, Wes Johnson is still (fairly) young. He's been a big disappointment and has confidence issues, but all the physical tools are there to be a solid role player and he has a nice looking shot even if he doesn't make too many of them lol. Nikola Pekovic is a very skilled low post scorer, but hasn't really adjusted to the NBA and fouls way too much. He's hopelessly buried on our bench behind all of our PFs whereas on almost any other team I think he would be getting minutes and a chance to prove himself. Martell Webster is one of the best 3 pointer shooters in the league and a solid defender, the only problem is that he's ALWAYS hurt. With the gaping hole the Wolves have at SG, we don't have time to sit around and wait on him to (maybe) get healthy. We need help now. If anyone can fix Webster's back, it's the Suns medical staff with their dark arts and if it doesn't work out he is an expiring contract as his salary next season is almost completely unguaranteed.

This is just one proposal, there are also other ways to make it work as the Wolves and Suns rosters work pretty well together in a trade. I know you guys are looking for a PG and Luke Ridnour could help out there, but we'd probably have to get something more in return because he's pretty good and has been valuable to us with JJ Barea out with injuries. Let me know what you think in the comments and good luck this season!

The basis of the trade is good, but it needs a little tweaking

Blazer's Edge LaMarcus Aldridge & Jerryd Bayless for Al Jefferson

Hi, wolves fan here.

This trade was brought up over at TwolvesBlog http://www.twolvesblog.com/forum/minnesota-timberwolves-den/27844-trade-big-al.html

There is mixed results over there on whether people would do it or not. So I was just wondering what Blazers fans thought of it/if you guys would do it.

Yes I know a trade like this would probably never happen and we don't particularly like the Blazers because you guys McFailed us out of Brandon Roy, but just wondering what you guys think, as fans regularly overvalue the players on the team they cheer for.

Personally, I think this trade works for both teams.

For the wolves, in LaMarcus Aldridge we get a young, interior presence that can play both positions and plays some defense. We'll lose some rebounding and scoring down low, but it wouldn't hurt as Kevin Love's forte is rebounding. We're also pretty thin at guard right now and Bayless has big upside.

For the blazers, in Al Jefferson you get one of the best offensive big men in the game and a rebounding force. He doesn't play much D, but you have Oden and Pryzbilla there to make up for it and I think they would fit well next to AL.

So, would you?

Golden State Of Mind GS/MN/ATL Josh Smith Trade Rumor

I'd like to start off with a disclaimer that this is a completely unvarified rumor.

Over at Twolvesblog.com there is a rumor that was either started or seen somewhere else about a 3-way trade involving your Warriors, the Wolves, and Atlanta. Apparently the wolves are involved because we have the 1st round picks to complete the deal.

The details go a little something like this (with some speculation as to how it would fit):

Wolves give:

Rashad McCants (to GS) Rodney Carney (to GS) 2009 1st round pick(s)  (to ATL)(we have Miami's, Boston's, and Utah's), and possibly a $1.4 million TPE.

GS gives:

Brandan Wright (to MN) Marco Belinelli (to MN) Al Harrington (to ATL)

ATL gives:

Josh Smith (sign-and-trade to GS)

Josh Smith wasn't specifically named in the rumor, but he's the only player on Atlanta's roster that makes sense for a trade like this.  It makes sense that they would do this, seeing as how Josh Smith and Mike Woodson don't like each either and they're probably giving him lowball offers. This way they get something in return if he is indeed refusing to re-sign with them longterm rather than having him walk as an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

I like this trade from a wolves perspective, what do you guys think about it?

Also have you heard anything about this rumor?
