Trey Zeigler Leaving Central Michigan
The move we were all anticipating has happened, as CMU athletics has confirmed that on Tuesday morning they granted a transfer request to Trey Zeigler, son of fired former coach Ernie Zeigler.
CMU Fires Ernie Zeigler
In a move that had to happen, but many thought wouldn't because of Ernie's trump card in star player and son, Trey Zeigler, Central Michigan University Director of Athletics Dave Heeke today announced that head men's basketball coach Ernie Zeigler would not be retained for next season. Zeigler lasted six season in the maroon and gold, compiling a 75-111 record.
Tigers v Braves Photos
I am down in Lakeland, and had tickets to today's game, and will be at the games on Friday and Saturday. These are the pictures I took today, thought you all would like to see them. Sat in Section 109, Row GG, 2 rows up from the Braves dugout. Sorry for the lousy quality in some of them, because all of them were taken using my tablet.
I will also try and upload some pictures from Tuesday, when the Tigers prospects played an exhibition against Western Michigan University. I was able to go onto the field and take some pictures.
Hope you all enjoy these, Eat Em Up Tigers!

Spring Training Tips?
I am heading down to Lakeland this coming Monday, and will be there through Saturday, catching 3 home games (Wed., Fri., Sat.) while I am down there. This is my first spring training, and am just wondering what some of the veterans out there suggest as far as what restaurants to check out, how early to get to the ballpark, what to do if I'm looking for an autographs, and just overall, things to do in Lakeland, and at Joker Marchant Stadium. Any help is greatly appreciated!
MAC Basketball Preview 2011-12: Central Michigan Chippewas
Ever since I first came to Central Michigan University and attended my first basketball game, they have become my favorite team to watch on campus, which is strange considering I was a terrible basketball player growing up, and I would rather watch a Tuesday night Sun Belt game than any NBA game. And as lousy as CMU has been since Chris Kaman left, that may leave you even more confused about why I enjoy watching them so much.
I love that college basketball, especially at mid-major schools, is so much more of an intimate game than football. And because prior CMU getting a new arena last season, crowds of less than 1,000 people were common, so it felt like my own little secret form of entertainment. Despite winning at least a share of MAC West titles in 2009 and 2010, CMU took a step backwards last year despite being picked to win the MAC West again, and having highly heralded recruit Trey Zeigler come to the team. This year, CMU comes in under the radar, but with another solid recruiting class by head coach Ernie Zeigler, things could be turning around in Mt. Pleasant.
CMU v Kentucky: Q&A with A Sea of Blue
CMU was the least impressive of all the MAC teams to earn a victory last week, stumbling on offense. But luckily for them, the defense stepped up and held their opponent to 137 yards of total offense. It also helps that the opponent last week was FCS South Carolina State.
This week CMU gets a big step up in competition as they travel down to Commonwealth Stadium to take on the Kentucky Wildcats. Throughout the week I had a chance to exchange a few question with A Sea of Blue and the head of their blog, Glenn Logan. You can find my answers to his questions in this article.
Preview: Central Michigan vs South Carolina State
Football season is finally here, as action gets underway around the country on Thursday. Central Michigan comes into this season off a disappointing 2010 season that saw them fall to 3-9 overall. The 2nd year of the Dan Enos era hopes to erase those memories, and that all begins with South Carolina State visiting Mt. Pleasant, in the season opener for both teams. Kick-Off is set for 7pm.
CMU Names Football Captains
CMU has named it's captains for the upcoming football season. Defensively, Senior linebacker Mike Petrucci, and senior defensive lineman John Williams; while on offense junior quarterback Ryan Radcliff and junior receiver Cody Wilson were selected captains in a vote of their teammates on Saturday.
CMU Faculty Association Strike: What It Means For CMU Athletics & MAC (UPDATE)
All summer long you've been reading about lockouts, and work stoppages in the NFL, and the NBA, and are probably tired of hearing about such stories. Perhaps you turned to college sports thinking that nothing like this could ever affect student athletes, but it appears our beloved Mid-American Conference, and in particular, Central Michigan University is going through similar issues.

2011 MAC Football Preview: Central Michigan Chippewas
Now that summer is winding down, football season winds up. While NFLers were negotiating, college programs have been practicing and filing down their depth charts in preparation for Labor Day weekend when the season begins. The weather outside is heating up and that must mean it's time for us to begin previewing the MAC, one team at a time...
After four of the greatest seasons in CMU, and MAC history, the Chippewas started the post Dan LeFevour era with a new head coach, and a new offensive system. Needless to say, the Dan Enos era did not start in the way that Chippewa fans had hoped. But despite their poor overall record, there were some signs that the team was building for the future.
Peter King Picks Lions for Super Bowl
Not sure if any of you saw this yet, but in an interview this morning, Peter King of SI kind of, sort of, picked the Lions to go to the Super Bowl. Now he's generally wrong with his Super Bowl picks, and I know many people don't like his writing, but still, pretty cool to see the Lions getting some recognition from one of the most read football writers out there.

My First Pistons Game
Hey everyone, going to my first Pistons game this Friday to see them take on the Knicks and Chauncey. Thanks StubHub for allowing me to get $4 tickets! Having never been, what should I look for, experience, and all that other stuff, like food, and parking. Going with a pretty big group of friends (8) so if theres any advice for something like that, that would be greatly appreciated. And just to get to 75 words, Let's Go To Work.
The Lions Next CB (hopefully)
Trolling twitter this morning, I saw this"
"@AdamSchefter: Raiders CB Nnamdi Asomugha's contract voided and he will become a free agent"
I know he would come at an expensive price, but this is the shutdown corner that the Lions need if they want to significantly upgrade the secondary and make the big jump to playoff contention. With the draft position they have, they likely aren't going to get a shutdown corner, but instead can focus on other areas of need, such as LB and OL. I really hope the Lions at least reach out to him, and make an effort to bring him to Detroit.
Calvin: In, Favre: Out
http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/post/_/id/21975/favre-out-calvin-johnson-in-at-ford-field
While I am thrilled that Megatron will be playing today against a thin Vikings secondary, I am a little disappointed that we don't get to see Favre play today. Mainly because I was hoping to see Suh rip his arm off like in Beowulf. All the same though, fantastic news that Calvin is playing. We're about an hour away from kick-off now. GOOOOOO LIIIIIIIONNNNSS!

NCAA 11 (xbox 360) Online Dynasty
I'm looking to start a online dynasty in NCAA 11 for XBOX 360, and am hoping to have as many MAC teams in it as possible, but feel free to pick any team you want. If you are interested, feel free to join. The league is public, so it is first come first serve. CMU is the only team taken so far, but there is at least one other guy who is for sure in, though he hasn't joined and taken a team yet. So that leaves 10 open spots.
League Name: rovitz
Thanks, and hope to see some of you in the dynasty.
Lions Management Does It Again!
According to Brian VanOchten of the Grand Rapids Press and MLive, the Lions will be one of only two NFL teams this season to lower ticket prices. The only other team being the Jaguars. While USA Today reports that 18 of the 32 teams will be raising their prices. I think this is a great move by management to show the fans some love, and try and make it more reasonable for us to come out to games. I fully applaud the Lions for this decision. Let's hope that with the improved on-field product, and lower ticket prices, that we can avoid having so many blackouts this season. And sorry I dont have a link to the USA Today article, their server seems to be down at the moment.

Would the Lions have won a game this year?
Imagine they didn't draft Matthew Stafford...
Does this team, realistically, win a game with Culpepper, Stanton, and whoever else they might have brought in to be the 3rd QB? Stafford played amazing in the win over the Browns, and managed the game well against Washington, and as the season wore on, it was obvious Stafford was the best QB on this team, far and away. I seriously think this could have been back to back 0-16 seasons if Stafford was not drafted to QB this team.
Just a an open question to the rest of the readers out there, what are your thoughts?
Ruined Sundays
As far back as I can remember in my life I have always been a die-hard Detroit Lions fan. They have always been there; consistant, embarrassing, infuriating, and just plain down right awful. For the 21 + years that I have been on this earth, I can remember watching Lions football for about 17 of them. And there is not one thing that immediately comes to mind about them that brings a smile to my face
